The clean out of the baby's room was almost completely successful! We got all the furniture moved out except for a dresser we are giving to one of my hubby's buddy, then all I have to do is wash the clothes that are in there and put them away!

Baby's room cleanup went amazing! We got everything cleaned up except for a dresser which we are giving away, and some clothes that I need to wash and put away. We filled up four giant black trash bags full of clothes to give away! It is going to be nice to start things. I have a feeling my mom is going to get us a crib soon....it is the only thing that I really want so far to put in the room. I think that once that is in there it will feel real!

So I didn't know that there were now two pages to our little thread, so I wrote a response twice!! I like the second one better!

Good Morning Courtney im glad that the clean up went so well im sure its exciting now that you almost have the room ready for the baby, and it will be great when you add the crib, so what color will paint the room or are planning to keep it the way it is, personally i cant wait to find the sex cause i want to paint it either blue or pink. i havent started on any thing yet and the room is filled with so much junk we have been using it as a storage room so a lot of work will have to be done. so how did the appt go and how's the spotting, i hope all is well please update me on that.

Name: CourtneyHope | Date: Sep 3rd, 2008 8:13 AM
The visit went well, the spotting is normal as long as it isn't bright red or heavy. He said that it is from the uterus stretching and pushing on the cervix. We did not get to hear the heartbeat though. He said that there was less then 50% chance of hearing it, so we tried, but couldn't find it yet. No biggie though. We are hoping to hear it at our next visit! We are going to paint the room either white or off white. That way if the kid wants to change it later or we want to change bedding or pictures, it will be neutral. Two more visits and we get to find out the sex!!! When do you go back for your next visit?

Name: decbaby | Date: Sep 3rd, 2008 8:28 AM
thats great news and your right its no biggie not hearing the hb as long as its there then thats great, and good move on the room color decision our room is already off white but i still want a color i dont know its just how i always visualized it i guess. my next appt is not until 2 weeks its on Aug 16th so i have along wait canit wait for the time to pass. so what are the names you're considering?

Name: CourtneyHope | Date: Sep 3rd, 2008 8:37 AM
We have already chosen our names and if it is a girl it will be Penny Hope, and if it is a boy it will be Oliver Robert. What names are you considering, or have you already chosen yours? When is your due date again?

Name: decbaby | Date: Sep 3rd, 2008 12:07 PM
my due date is right after yours the 22nd of March, and no we have no definite names planned yet, i really like yours though i think penny is really sweet and Oliver Robert seems like a name of some one important and successful so i wish your baby all the luck. Our names are really different than yours any ways but for a girl i like Jude which means generousity and giving and for a boy it will probably be like the name of my husband's father which is very arabic, something that you wouldn't even be able to pronounce but hopeing that we will be able to negotiate that later on once we've known the sex. Are you showing at all yet i mean im sure to yourself maybe but are people noticing it, im not showing at all and im just dying for my belly to pop sooooo much.

Name: CourtneyHope | Date: Sep 3rd, 2008 12:17 PM
I am showing to myself! I don't think it is noticeable to others though. I too am ready to have my belly pop so people can tell. I like Jude, that's pretty! Hope is a middle name tradition for the females in my family, so we would definitely carry it on. I knew you were due the day after me, I don't know how it slipped my mind! You should for sure hear the heart beat if you are going in at 14 weeks. I go back again at 16 weeks, so we are going to hear it then. We go on the 30th, then our next one we get to find out what our baby is!

Name: decbaby | Date: Sep 4th, 2008 10:14 AM
i cant wait to find out the sex of the baby, i think then it becomes even more real, i hope every thing will look ok at my next u/s i always worry. so what is your plan for delivery do you want to go all natural or are you planning on taking an epidural, personlly if i deliver natureally i will deffiently take an epidural i could never take it especially that i got a taste of it the last time i was pregnant and had to get the sac down it was really painful. i think that my morning sickness is starting to ease up. you will be starting your 12th week on Saturaday isnt that right?

Name: CourtneyHope | Date: Sep 4th, 2008 10:40 AM
Yes!! HOORAY for 12 weeks on Saturday, and your's on Sunday!! Then it is time to celebrate with a sigh of relief! Everyone hates when I say this, but I never had morning sickness. That's why I worry. I think that we are just in the stage that since we can't feel anything and our symptoms are subsiding we feel like 'can we really still be prego?!' That's how I fee anyway. I am planning to start out without pain meds, but if I want them I'm not going to be high and mighty, I'll take them if I need them. We will just have to see, I am not sure how it will feel, or whether or not I can take it. My sister did it without meds, but she had a 6 pound baby that slid right out lol! Do you get an ultrasound at your next visit?! We got one at 7 1/2 weeks, then we don't get another till we find out the sex! That also sucks cause you can't see it for months at a time! Where do you work? What does your hubby do? Is this going to be the first grandchild, or are there many in your fam?

Name: decbaby | Date: Sep 4th, 2008 11:17 AM
yes this will be the first grandchild, you know i never thought about it till this sec when you asked so yah i guess it will be real special then, im an only child and i've been brought up with my mum who's amazing my father left us when i was only 4 yrs old and he's not involved in my life at all he doesnt even know that i got married! so this baby will be the heart and soul for my mom i think she lives alone. on my hubbys side too he has an older brother and a younger sister none of which are married yet. so this baby will be spoiled ughhhh. i'll try to fight it though nothing worse than a spoilt child. my hubby's an accountant at a stock exchange company and i used to work as a part-time editor/copyeditor in a website but i dont go any more been feeling very tired. oh and here we are quite lucky i think cause the system is quite different than in the states, i have an u/s each visit and we hear the hb each time, and we go to the doc every three weeks, and at some point we will do a 3D u/s but im not sure when i'll have to ask the doc next time. another thing that is quite strange also is that our babies are usually born smaller than yours in the states i dont know why i mean the normal weight for a new born here is 3 kilos which is 6 pounds but i always hear that people in the states gave babies that are 8 and 9 pounds sometimes even more! thats amazing i wish my baby would be that big too. do you have any traveling plans i read that the best time to travel is in the second trimester?

Name: CourtneyHope | Date: Sep 4th, 2008 12:01 PM
I wish we could have travel planned! I would love to jet set and go somewhere! I can't though, my job is being super awesome and letting me carry over any unused vacation time to use during maternity leave. Our baby will be the 2nd grandchild on my side (hopefully the first baby girl!) and like the 40 somethingth grandchild on my hubby's side. No biggie there. Especially cause his brother's psycho girlfriend and his nut-job of a sister are all due within 3 months of me. So not so special for that side! We are going to get a 3-D ultrasound to find out the sex. It costs extra, but it will be worth it. In the states we go every four weeks then we go every week in the 8th or 9th month. I am hoping for a big healthy baby, but at the same time I hope it is little and healthy cause the bigger it is, the more it hurts!!

Name: decbaby | Date: Sep 4th, 2008 12:09 PM
3Ds cost extra here too, actually i think that they are quite expensive but not sure how much exactly, and i think that in the 8th and 9th month the visits are more frequent but i havent asked about such details yet. we dont have any travel planned too im not sure if we will be able to afford it because of all the baby's expenses and so on, we dont have insurance here in Egypt i mean we do but it doesnt cover the doc i go to or the hospital and so on so we pay for every thing. oh how's your spotting doing has it stopped?

Name: CourtneyHope | Date: Sep 4th, 2008 12:20 PM
Yup, it has stopped! Still nervous of course though. I know it's normal we couldn't hear the heartbeat with the doppler thing, but at the same time I would've have had a sigh of relief if we did. We have insurance, but the 3-D sonogram is still $95.00. I think we get a video to take home though, so it is way worth it. I wish it was October!!!

This is TOTALLY normal. My dr. has always said:Brown=old blood=no wrry
red=new blood=worry!!
I'd only worry if it continues.

Good Morning Malak! Or good afternoon! How was your weekend? Congrats again on the 12 week mark! Super exciting!

Name: decbaby | Date: Sep 8th, 2008 9:40 AM
Hello Courtney, how was your weekend, hope it went well, do you have any pets i mean a dog or cat i have 2 cats and am kind of worried about how they will deal with the baby, do you know any one who had cats and were fine with the baby?

Name: decbaby | Date: Sep 8th, 2008 9:42 AM
my weekend was fine thanks for asking :) how was yours, are you getting any specific cravings? i'm still quite sick and can't stand much of the food i miss eating so much.

Name: CourtneyHope | Date: Sep 8th, 2008 10:51 AM
To answer your first question, I have two dogs. A big one and a little one. I am quite nervous of how they will reacte to losing our attention, but I have been told that since the baby will hold our scent that it shouldn't be a problem. One of my best friends has a few cats and she said the baby is doing fine. I would be weary though because they say that you shouldn't have cats for some reason, I'm not sure if it is the litter box, or something else. I did have a wonderful weekend. Spent a lot of time with the hubby, so that was nice. I have been having cravings for nothing but sweets! Last night my hubby took me to Dairy Queen so I could get a chocolate oreo blizzard! I craved big soft pretzels the other day too. MMMM, making me hungry!! Is your sickness getting any better? I can't imagine. OOH! I wanted to tell you that I figured out that when I lean my back against the wall and place my fingers right above my pubic bone I can feel my uterus/baby!!!! My hubby felt it too, you should try it, it is so exciting!!

Name: decbaby | Date: Sep 8th, 2008 11:51 AM
Thank for the pet info that was comforting, and i don't think that you should worry at all about your dogs, they are usually great with children, i just tried the wall thing to feel my uterus but im not sure what i should feel and sorry this might sound really dumb but where is the pubic bone exaclty . Thanks.

Name: CourtneyHope | Date: Sep 8th, 2008 11:55 AM
Don't be silly! The pubic bone is right where that hairline stops, you should be able to feel it, it's your pelvic bone too I think. Anyway, if you push gently along the top of that bone you should fee a little ball on the inside of you, kinda like a football...it's weird, but it's there! I hope you can find it cause it's really cool...I can only find it when I'm standing up. My friend just informed me that she thinks I will have a boy because I never had any morning sickness. All my other friends and family swear that it is going to be a girl....anyone making guesses on what you will be having?

Name: decbaby | Date: Sep 8th, 2008 11:58 AM
oooh and your cravings sound so SWEET id love to be able to have some of that too. well maybe soon. what are your dog's names, my cats are a female and a male the girl is Diva and the boy is Smokey, my mum also has two dogs both males and they are the cutest things Pekineese, Teddy and Dusty.

Name: decbaby | Date: Sep 8th, 2008 12:03 PM
no, no guesses at all at the moment i haven't asked any one about they think, i guess it just slipped my mind but my best friend did the chinese calander thing for me and said that i will have a boy, i also feel that i will have a boy but that doesnt go well with the morning sickness theory now does it, well i don't really believe in any of that stuff i mean i believe when i see it (on the u/s). i'll go try feel my uterus again, i hope i can if i dont maybe its just too soon and it hasn't moved up yet.

Name: CourtneyHope | Date: Sep 8th, 2008 12:35 PM
We have a female black lab mix named Lucy, and a male rat terrier named Loki. They are our kids right now and that's the only thing that makes me nervous...they have all the attention right now, and they are not going to get as much when the baby comes. I think the chines calendar thing is a bit of mumbo jumbo...depending on what site you go to, I have had both results, a boy and a girl. So who knows. As long as it is one or the other...not one in the same...we are excited!!! I'm sure your sickness will go away soon, we are almost ready to head into the second trimester, which from what I've read is the easiest! I think maybe we should head there next week...what do you think?!

Name: decbaby | Date: Sep 8th, 2008 6:01 PM
oh i love labradours they are so kind and are supposed to be really good with children. Yes we should definetly move into the second trimester group next week and under a different more cheerful thread title too. I know some say that the second trimester doesnt begin untill week 14 but i don't care personally i think that its the 13th so yey for us we're on to the second trimester. oh and i also don't believe in the chinese calendar at all either.

Name: CourtneyHope | Date: Sep 9th, 2008 9:05 AM
I have read in so many different forums that the 2nd trimester starts at either 13, 14, or 15 weeks. I am good with 13, so that will be perfect! Yes, a better title will suite us...I think it's cute that people still pop in and give you their advice! We should think of a clever thread title so people want to wonder what it is we are discussing! I hope you had a great morning! Did you happen to feel your uterus?!?
