I'll be 14 weeks on Tuesday, I have an appointment at the optometrist this Thursday to get new contacts/glasses. I'm just wondering if there is any reason I would need to tell them I'm pregnant. I couldn't think of any reason they would need to know, but I don't want to take any chances. Like I know for the dentist you have to tell them because of X-rays and stuff. So if anybody knows any reasons, please let me know! Thanks in advance!!

Yes, you should let them know. Pregnancy can cause changes to your eyes -- your prescription, dryness primarily. Assuming it's just a regular checkup, there's nothing to worry about endangering you or your baby, but it's just good to let your optometrist know. About the only major thing to know is that they won't correct your vision through lasik/lasek if you are pregnant or planning on getting pregnant for a whole year after the surgery because pregnancy can cause mild vision changes for up to that long after delivery.

Oh wow, I didn't know that pregnancy caused changes to my eyes too! That's really good to know. Thank you so much, I will let them know when I go in
