7w3d - yolk sac, fetal pole, no heartbeat????

Hi there! Went for my first u/s today. Dr. saw a yolk sac and a fetal pole, but no heartbeat yet. Sending me for progesterone and hcg tests. I am going back for another u/s next Tuesday. Has anyone else been this far along with the same results? He thinks I may actually be earlier in my pregnancy simply because of the 72-hour window of conception. Thanks! JM

I have not been in the same situation, but my doctor told me they don't really expect a heartbeat until 8 weeks. Do you know exactly when you ovulate? Sometimes womed don't ovulate mid-cycle and measure smaller than predicted.

This happened to me the first time I had a miscarriage. I also had to wait for the hcg tests to confirm that it wasn't good news. But, some people have very good stories with cases similar to this. With my last M/C, I was 7 W 5 D and they had a heart beat, but it was only 79.

With your early date, it is VERY possible that the baby doesn't have a heart beat yet. Don't get discouraged.
