My sister is 4 months pregnant. During a recent test the doctor told her that the baby is showing little movement and that growth is improper. They say the child may have problems later. Now they want her to decide if she wants to go ahead with the pregnancy or do an abortion. She is distraught and also confused as to what would be the best thing to do. Also i have heard that abortion so late into the pregnancy is risky. Could someone plz offer some advice.

DId they offer to give her an amnio? That would diagnose what the problem is if there actually is one. It does not sound like they are at all sure if or what the problem is, if it were me I would absolutely NOT terminate the pregnancy unless I knew for certain that the condition was not compatible with life. I think a second opinion would also be in order in this case. Doctors can be wrong! I was told my baby may have had Trisomy 18, a horrible chromosomal problem that typically results in death a few months after birth. Well, she was born perfect and is a healthy, happy 19 month old little girl. Please, please, please have her get more info and more definitive diagnosis before terminating the pregnancy. Good luck and if you can, please let me know how it goes.
