Am I eating enough?

Hey everyone. I am 8 weeks 3 days. Lately, I've been adding up the amount of calories I'm taking in each day and I'm barely reaching 1600-1700. Is this enough? I've been eating plenty of fruits and veggies. I'm not experiencing morning sickness, but I just don't feel like eating that much. I sometimes have to force myself to eat in order to get to 1600 calories. I drink a lot of water and take prenatal vitamins. I'm just worried I'm hurting the baby.

Usually it is sufficient to eat around the same amount that you did before becoming pregnant. "Eating for two" is a myth. You are really just feeding yourself as the baby will take what it needs first and you get what's left. Just do the best you can!

Just pretend you're breastfeeding and need 500 extra calories per day. Add foods that will meet that goal. You'll have to continue this way after baby is born, if you'll be breastfeeding.

Don't worry too much about it at this stage. I had morning sickness until around week 20 and didn't start gaining any weight until then. Now I've gained 20 lbs! Just try to continue to eat healthy (including veggies and protein) and take your vitamins. Your doctor should check at some point to make sure you are not anemic (if you are, you can take extra iron supplements.) Don't worry - you're not hurting the baby!
