HI all i am pregnant with Ferternal Twins due 25th Dec 08. I am planning a c-section approx 3 - 4 weeks early, i am only small built so the doc recommends this the safest procedure. I have a 2 1/2 yr old son, and am looking for any preperation advice on twins. Eg: Should i sleep them together for the first few months?, Is it really that hard to breastfeed twins?

Hi Sethina....congrats on your twin pg. I am due with fraternal twins also within the next 3 weeks or so. You wont get too much of a response on this board reagrding twins, its mostly clomid posts and fertility questions (which is ok, it just that his is the twins and multiples board not the fertility board). Anyway, I have a 2 year old (she'll be 2 at the end of Septembetr) also. I plan on sleeping the teins together in one crib until they are ready to be on there own. My daughter is still in her crib, so I figure by the time she is ready for a "big girl bed" the twins will be ready to be in their own crib and just move hers over. Howw are you feeling?

Hi All, I am 7 weeks pg with ferternal twins also. I'm so excited, but very nervous. I would love it if we could get and advice thread going, any suggestions would be appreciated. I met a mom of twins and she told me to keep them on the exact same schedule. For her it worked great, she said when one woke up she woke the other one. She would bf one and bottle feed the other and then switch on the next feeding. I think it's worth considering. Anyway, good luck to both of you. Cindy

hi fnc.....congrats to you too on your twin pg. They were able to tell they were fraternal already at 7 weeks???? Wow, modern technology. Anyway, I heard the same thing about the schedule and intend to do it (as best I can anyway). My parents are getting us a night nurse who works with twins so hopefully we will get them on a schedule. Anyway, good luck to you too.

i had a set of identicla twins in 2004. breastfed them both till a year old. was alittle hard at first but things got easier as they grew. i did sleep them together for the first 3-4 months. they wouldn't sleep in seperate cribs. i had a 1 year old son at the twins time of birth. get them involve so they don't feel left out. let them get diapers from thepack for you so they feel like their helping trust me it makes the jealousy a little easier to deal with. good luck with everything and let me know how things go. if you need someone to talk to about twins and stuff you can feel free to talk to me too if you want.

I am 33 weeks pg with twin girls. And I was wondering how did everyone find out that they are having fraternal or identical twins, (besides if you are having girl/boy)? And I have asked my doctor (many of times) and he always says that they cann't tell untill they are born. I was just curious.

Sam0208...I'm shocked that your dr didn't answer that questions correctly. With u/s they can tell as early as 5w if the twins are identical or ferternal, both babies in one sac is identical (one egg that divided) two sacs is ferternal (two seperate eggs were fertilized). Congrats to you and best of luck with your twin girls. Cindy

NO, Identical twins can have one or two sacs. Actually, having one sac is dangerous and considered a high risk pregnancy. Identical and Fraternal can have two sacs.

For all you ladies that are or have been pregnant with twins, did you use clomid to get pregnant or was it natural?

Identical twins can really be in two seperate sacs? I never knew that!

I conceived twins naturally, it was a total surprise. We are expecting two boys that are in their own sacs so they could be identical, we won't know until after they are born. I too would be interested in any advise on raising twins or just on getting through the first few months. Thanks!
