Anybody preg & still BF?

I was wondering if bf feels different when you are preg? My boobs get VERY sore when af is due, & I'm worried the hormone of preg will make it even worse. We are talking about ttc again soon, but as our ds is only 10.5mths I would like to continue BF as long as possible when I'm preg. Any & all experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm still nursing and am pregnant. My dd is 10.5 months and seems to really nurse more often, every time I sit down to relax she crawls on over and starts signing milk to me, haha. Lately its been 6-8+ times a day. Some days it seems my nipples are sore not excrutiating tho, then others it doesn't even bother me. But my dd is very clingy and loves getting her cuddles and love in. I tried weaning to keep my sanity, but right when I found out I was pregnant she refused bottles completely and milk out of any sippy cups : S so I'm just going with the flow for now. Good Luck!

I am ttc and am still bf'ing a 16 month old. I did fall pregnant already when my dd was 8 months..but it ended in an ectopic. I am hoping to fall preggers soon this is my 2nd month ttc. Good luck to you and there is no reason to wean unless your pregnancy is considered high risk. Often the colostrum produced during pregnnacy turns the lo's off the nursing so they self wean. Other times it does not bother them at all. However, you will need lots of energy..as will I.. good luck to you and BABYDUST!!!!!!

Hey ladies thanks for your feedback. Britt_m congrats on your pregnancy & I'm glad your still able to bf, it gives me hope. Ds LOVES boob when he's on but only seems to want it about 3 times a day, but he does gets clingier & wants way more cuddles & boob when I'm ov, it's like he can sense what we're trying to do lol. Anyway best of luck to you both & Kristin72 hopefully we'll be preggers soon too.

My son kept rejecting me and eventually transitioned to bottle and formula completely. Lo and behold, I found out a month later that I was pregnant. (SURPRISE!) Anyway, just a question here. Is a woman's body able to produce the colostrum for the new baby if you're still BFing the older sibling?

MurphBabes to your question YES you still make colostrum. I asked my midwife the same thing at my last app & this is what she told me. Some women find they start to make it during the pregnancy which is why some babies self wean because of the taste change. For most women however, your milk slowly changes & when you go through labour your hormone & chemical signals change, & as soon as the placenta is delivered, your breasts only make colostrum as it would if you weren't breastfeeding prior to baby's birth. However if you have an elective cesarean your body won't get these hormone & chemical signals & won't know that you just had a new baby, so won't produce the colostrum. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I guess I never gave our bodies enough credit.
