Hi everyone! I am 6 weeks pregnant and went in to see the Dr. today. They did an exam b/c of some symptoms I was having and they said I have bacterial vaginosis and gave me flagyl. I'm still nursing my son, but they said it was still okay to take. I came home and did some research online (I know, not always smart), but it totally freaked me out. I'm not sure if I should take the meds or not. I'll call the Dr. back tomorrow and ask more questions, but I was curious to hear if anyone else has had to take this medicine in the first trimester. With my first pregnancy, I had the same problem but my Dr. didn't treat it and it went away eventually. The concern is that bacterial vaginosis can lead to pre-term labor, PROM, lowbirth weight, etc. I'm just so confused, b/c I know there are risks with having this infection, but there are also risks with taking the meds!! ↓
I had this with my first pregnancy. They also gave me flagyl. I have a healthy daughter who is not almost 3. I also did the research (which online is very hit or miss!!), but it helped my symptoms, and I did not have it again during my pregnancy. Hope that helps. ↑
