I understand it's very common for women 35 and over. I'm just looking for someone who may have gone through this. I found out at 7 weeks that I had an eptopic. It was very painful and emotional - I'm wondering if anyone had one, did they get pregnant again? How long before they got back on a normal schedule for ovulation? Anyone with advice? ↓
I am 35, and had an ectopic pregnancy Feb 2003 which resulted in the removal of the left tube/ovary. We had completely given up the possibility of having another child (because this was also after five miscarriages.) Two years later (Feb 2005) we discover I am pregnant. Did not even realize the obvious signs/symptoms ... assumed missing period was stress and nausea was a crud-bug my kiddos brought home from school ... I am now very, very pregnant. I suppose if it is meant to be it is meant to be. God Bless. ↑
I had an ectopic pregnancy about fourteen years ago. It had implanted behind my uterus after aborting out the end of my tube. Thankfully, it failed to find an adequate blood supply and died. If the pregnancy had found a good blood supply it may have continued, even to term. Then I probably would have died. I have since gone on to have three more children with no problems. My next child was born about 14 months after the ectopic. ↑
I had an ectopic pregnancy in May of 1996 when I was 29 years old. I conceived again in November of 1996 and had a healthy baby boy that following August. Good Luck!! ↑
I had one this past February and my body is now finally getting back to normal. It took a few months. I have been getting acupuncture and charting my temp every day. My Doc told me to wait until this month (June) before I should begin trying again because my tube had to heal (it was not removed, luckily). My acupuncturist said to wait until August. I have no patience and it is hard but I may give it to August anyway - I don't want to go through it again. Good luck to you!! Be positive!!! ↑
I'm 35 years old. I am currently going thru an eptopic pregnancy. It's interstinal (spelling?) eptopic pregnancy. Meaning it got to the end of the tube but beginning of uturus - right where they meet. I had to go to the hopital and they treated it with drugs. I'm still bleeding now (doctor said that was normal).
We have no children, my first pregnancy was a miscarriage, this second one is an ectopic.
I have a question...They say a sac but no embryo AND they said the sac was abnormal shape. Did anybody experience those two? If so, did you go on to have children? Why was the sac abnormal shaped? ↑
Nancy, I didn't have any sac - by the time I got to the doctors office (terrible pain) they did an ultrasound to see if they could find the sac - which they didn't because (I didn't have one) they couldn't see anything. I had severe internal bleeding. I was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery and was cut hip to hip - the upside to that was they saved the tube and the ovary. I had an HSG test done last week (dye shoots into the tubes to look for blockage) and got the ALL CLEAR!!!!! Thank God. Mine also got to the end of the tube - I was told it was a very freak thing - I'm just confused now because my cycles were always at the end of the month 26th - 27th always 29 days. After the surgery I got AF on June 10th and I'm not sure if this is going to be a new cycle for me or not. I'm sorry you had to experience a miscarriage and an eptopic. I wish you all the best. Have you been tested to see if you have any scar tissue? ↑
I recently had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy in my right Fallopian tube. I had a salpingectomy (total removal of my right tube) I was told that I should experience normal ovulation in 6-8 weeks post surgery. I was also told that at time I could try again and the longer I waited before trying the more likely I would have a successful pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancies are common to women who have had tubes re-tied, pelvic inflammatory disease, scar tissues, and is slightly increased in women over 35. Women who suffer from tube disorders also have higher incidences of ectopic pregnancy. Provided your other tube is normal you should have no problem getting pregnant. If you still have a portion of or all of the tube in which you got pregnant in there is an increased risk of pregnancy up to about 12%. If your ectopic was other than intrafallopian ( such as intra-abdominal or extrauterine) then risk of a repeat ectopic is not as high. hope this offers some help.......:) ↑
Thanks for the info. I did have an HSG before we got pregnant. They say a lot of women get pregnant right after an HSG and we did. We actually dried getting pregnant for over a year. Because of that the HSG was one of the test that they ran. They diagnosed us as "UnExplained Infertility". While getting the HSG they said it would be like mentrual cramps. It was for part of the procedure. Then a while into the procedure I felt PAIN!!!!! I don't curse (I'm a quiet person) but wow, I cursed in my head!!!! Luckily I didn't say it out loud! I grabbed hold of the table and was screaming to myself, "This is more pain then the mentrual cramps." I couldn't bear it! Tears were starting to roll down my eyes. It was the worst and longest 20 seconds. Then we got pregnant. I read that the extra pain I felt could have been my tubes becoming unblocked. They gave me the OK and said the tubes were not blocked and they are OK.
I have an appointment mid July to go back to the doctor. One of the things she discussed was getting another HSG to make sure the eptopic didn't scar. I'm all for that because I truly feel the HSG helped us get pregnant. Good Luck to you and all with the pregancy. Sorry to go on and on but I wanted to tell of my experience in case it helps others. ↑
I am feeling exactly the same. Wondering what will happen next. I want more than anything a healthy pregnancy. I just had an eptopic surgery Friday, June 15, 2005. I went in for an ultrasound happy and left Saturday feeling very emotional also. I am wondering the same thing. Very afraid I am but can't give up. I was told also that I was at 7 weeks. I have so many concerns. I feel better today. I am 28 and was spotting since June 24 for about three weeks with no cramps or pain and ended in surgery. I also can't understand why. I have had a few urinary infections and wonder if this caused it. Don't give up. I am not. Just stay in contact with your doctor and keep a small calander in your purse to write down all the important dates/how you felt that day. Almost like a diary. I started in June and regret not having taken the ultrasound sooner. I had planned a lot for the pregnancy at such an early state. ↑
Jenn, I had an ectopic in April 2003. I was nine weeks and had no idea until it ruptured.( I did know that I was pregnant) I had no pain and felt great actually. I lost my left tube and became very disheartened as this was my 2nd pregnancy that did not work out. My husband and I started trying this year (we married in April) and it took us three months to gte pregnant. I am surprised, elated, scared, you name it. Just know that there is hope. I am 35 and will be almost 36 when I have this baby - I have had an ultrasound already and this oen is not ectopic- thank goodness. I am hoping all goes well since I am very early on in this one - only 6 weeks. Good luck Jenn. You're time will come!! ↑
I have two friends who both had an aptopic pregnancy and both lost a tube. One became pregnant the third month afterwards and had a healthy baby girl, the other took a year or so but she had fertility problems as a seperate issue too. I am sorry to hear you have had to go through this I have had miscarriage but not ectopic but I have heard how dangerous and horrific they are from my friends. I hope you conceive quickly and I know it will be the most amazing moment when you get to see that little heartbeat. ↑
Charlene and Louise, thanks for the feed back and kind words. Charlene - CONGRATULATIONS!!!! That's great news. Keep me posted on how things are going. I was told by my doctor after surgery and after the HSG test that I had no PI disease, no scar tissue before or after eptopic; so she really doesn't know why it happend. Freak thing. My cycles are now backwards - instead of the end of the month they are at the beginning of the month and it's running about 30 days - we tried to conceive in June but that failed. We are trying again this month and will hopefully happen - I was thinking of an ovulation kit to help me pinpoint ovulation more clearly. I'm so nervous but at the same time can't think of anything else. I fortunately have both my tubes and ovaries and I'm sorry to hear about the women here who have lost one. My doctor had told me before surgery that if I did lose a tube - I would still conceive from the other tube. So best of luck to you ladies. Nancy, I also heard of many women who have had the HSG test and the dye actually pushed the scar tissue out - I'm that happend for you as well. Painful process to go through but worth it if you get a ++ test result. Thanks for sharing everyone. I'm going to be 36 on the 23rd of this month (around ovulation time) and we are really trying - hopefully conception will be my birthday present. Thanks everyone. It's nice to hear from everyone. ↑
Jenn,
Try using the cervical mucous as a tool for ovulation. The more clear and stretchy, the better for you and most likely optimum time. That is what I was watching for. It is stressful to ttc, but stay positive and keep things fun!!! It happens when you least expect it! Best of luck and keep us posted. Happy early birthday!!! ↑
I am 35 and had an ectopic last year and it definitely " rips your heart out. " I became very depressed and then realized there was reason that it was just not meant to be to have a baby at this time. I understand the emotions that you all went though. I am now blessed being 17 weeks pregnant with twins ! I wish everyone the best ! ↑
i had an ectopic back in 1992 was 19 at time didnt know i was even pregnant bled for days ended up at hosp. having surgery which part of my right tube was removed now im 33 trying to have a baby been trying for 1 yr no luck i honestly dont think i can get pregnant but im praying i want a baby more than anything so i am going to have a hsg test nxt month i am nervous, scared i heard you will feel severe cramping ,hoping after this i will get pregnant if anyone has any advice for me or can give me more info on the hsg test please let me know...thanks ↑
Lisa, I had the HSG test done in June and I personally did not find it that painful nor uncomfortable. It is slight cramping but last a total of maybe 3 minutes - when I left the hospital I went shopping. Didn't bother me at all. I wish you all the luck with your test. They say if there is some scar tissue in you tube sometimes the dye from the HSG test pushes it out. The doctor told me it also increases your chances of pregnancy because your tubes are "cleaned out" from the dye injection. Don't worry so much about the test - it's not that bad. Good luck ↑
i had an eptopic pregnancy 2 years ago - i am now 34. i am still getting pain on the side of the eptopic. i didnt lose the tube - it was treated with drugs. the doctors say the pain is unusual but is probably scar tissue. i had a scan which was all clear. has anyone else suffered pain this long afterwards? i have been to my doctor several times but they just keep telling me its probably nothing. ↑
im 29 and last november found out i was b weeks pregnant only to find out a week later that it was ectopic, i had to have my left tube removed, then only to discover i have cysts on my right one, i am still trying to concieve which is very difficult because my preiods arent regular anymore since the operation, so you arent alone ↑
