Katie, I have noticed the same thing and am also trying to get pregnant. I have had 2 miscarriages so I'm worried that the bleeding could be related. Does anyone have any information? Thanks!

Answer:
According to the book Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Weschler, a day or 2 light bleeding right around ovulation is normal. It is another fertitlity sign that can help us identify where we are in our cycle. Its usually the result of sudden drop of estrogen just before ovulation & tends to occur more often in long cycle. I personally have this kind of bleeding and had a cycle length of around 35 days. Was pretty worried initially & even had an ultrasound done to check for cyst but everything turn up fine. But after reading the above mentioned book, make me feel really relieved cause me, too, suffered from an early miscarriage 2 wks ago.

I have this and so did my Mum. The most interesting explanation I saw was that it is due to a drop in oestrogen just prior to ovulation. I only get it some months - maybe that's when I'm actually ovulating. Haven't really bothered about it except now am trying to get pregnant and wonder whether the blood will affect environment for sperm - anyone have any info on that?

I am also trying to get pregnant and have just started bleeding 15 days after my period. At first I had hoped it was Implantation Bleeding but it is definately more of a 'bleed' than 'spotting'. Is it now too late to conceive or is there still a chance before my period is due? Any info on mid-cycle / ovulation bleeding & implantantation bleeding would be a great help.

I had a miscarrage one and a half year ago and trying to conceive now. I have the middle cycle bleeding also. The miscarrage was happend at the middle of my cycle (suppose). But no explanation from my OB/GYN. I do think there are a relationship with the middle cycle bleeding and miscarrage. Is there someone can explain this to me? THanks!

Hi, me again. My period is due today, I have had slight cramps and only a slight amount of brown discharge which is unusual as my cycle is normally regular. I have my fingers crossed that I could still be pregnant and that the mid cycle bleeding was just due to ovulation after all. I will let you know how I get on. Am still very confused though regarding mid-cycle & ov. bleeding - can't seem to get any concrete advice on either.

Answer:
It is quite normal to have a slight bleed around the time of ovulation due to hormone changes, it does not affect your fertility. Implantation bleeding usual occurs around the time your period is due and can be accompanied by cramps. And i would also like to say there is hope after miscarrage, i had 2 and now i have 2 perfect children.

Well its now the 1st Feb and still no period....however I did a pregancy test on Sunday and unfortunately it was negative. No sign of a period though, no symptoms like sore boobs like I usually get. Am thinking of doing another test mid-week but don't have any pregnancy symptoms either. Not really sure where to go from here or what to do? Any advice? Thanks.

I'm not sure about that. I have never spotted around that time except for this month. I thought it might be an early implantation, but was wrong. Why does it seem like I'm pregnant and not. Waiting on period, but negative test result.

Well it's now the 7th Feb and still no sign of my period. I saw the nurse on Friday who seems to think that I'm not pregnant due to negative hpt & lack of symptoms however she sent me away with a sample bottle which I had to take into the surgery this morning, however I have to wait until Friday for the results. I have also rec'd an appt for a ultra sound scan in 2 wks time so hopefully they can give me some answers & at least put my mind at rest that nothing is wrong in that department. Has anyone else had any luck?

Answer:
Looking back on some of the different questions, it does seems quite normal for some women to experience bleed/spotting during the time of ovulation. It's usually due to the changes of hormones. there have been a few times when I have noticed some spotting right during the ovulation period. I have one son and have had 2 miscarriages this past year. I don't think the bleeding is related though. some say spotting during ovulation is a good indication of being fertile and is a window to show when the best time to have intercourse. As for Carol, the fact that you still have no period but did experience some brown discharge could indicate a missed misscarriage. It's definitely best to continue to see your ob/gyn if you don't get your period soon. Best of luck!

I have 2 kids, and to my knowledge have never had a miscarriage. This past December I had 2 1/2 days of bleeding, then I ovulated. I thought I was starting to ovulate (had egg white cm on Sunday the 6th) so we had sex on Sun and Mon. Haven't had any ovulation signs since, and now i'm bleeding again around ovulation time. Not sure what to think, just hope all is okay in the fertility dept.

Answer:
I've had three pregnancies and two of those were miscarriages. I never had implantation bleeding with them, but was told that this bleeding is more like spotting that usually happens before your period is due. If you have pretty regular cycles you could probably differentiate between the two. It's usally a day of light spotting if it's implantation bleeding. If your real period comes a week later it could indicate some hormonal changes and if your period is late, it may indicate that you could be pregnant.

I have been keeping track of my cycles for about 9 months now and have noticed light "spotting" around ovulation. I haven't been on the BCP for a year and a half and my hubby and I were just going to "let it happen." We're starting to get worried that it has "happened" yet and this sounds similar to many of your situations. Maybe the midcycle bleeding is related... maybe not.

Katie, I too had experienced spotting during ovulation last year. This happened to me usually a day or two after a positive result with an ovulation test kit for the LH surge. I had made a Dr.'s appointment believing something was wrong. A couple of days before my appointment I took a pregnancy test and found that I was pregnant with my son so the bleeding had no effect on conception. I hope this helps. I wish you all luck.

Has anyone heard of a correlation between organic milk and mid cycle spotting? My periods have been drop-dead regular for my entire life (28 days) and for the past 10 months they have been changing. I have regularly started to notice spotting during mid-cycle, which has only happened less than a handful of times in my life beforehand, and my cycle is now irregular - most months now 27 days, but last month was 4 days late. My periods themselves have also become irregular (to me) - spotting for 2-3 days, then VERY heavy bleeding for 2 days, then all of a sudden nothing. I have heard some testimony about the use of organic dairy products, and how they affect hormone levels. It dawned on me that I switched to organic milk about the time that my cycle started changing. Has anyone else heard of this? Thanks!

I had mid-cycle bleeding about 1 1/2 months ago. I thought it might be implantation, but I got my period about a week later. Now I have not had any bleeding for over 4 weeks, and previously my cycle has been about 3 weeks. I have taken a pregnany test, and only come up with negative results. Is there a connection between the two?

Hello Everyone! I believe that what I experienced earlier was implantation bleeding b/c now I am 6 weeks pregnant!!! Yeah! Now I am seeing very very very light spotting when I wipe and I am concerned. I know that when women bleed in early pregnancy there is a 50% chance of miscarriage... I wonder if its too light to worry about or if there is anything that I can do to increase the chances of this pregnancy continuing? Anyone's input would be appreciated because my mind has been racing... I go to the Dr. tomorrow so I will let you all know how it goes...

I have a friend who is a NFP coordinator and for the first time I had tinges of blood in my cervical mucus. I am a few days away from my supposed ovulation time (day 13 right now). I never discovered before but I always check my cervical fluid on the tissue or with one finger sweeping the vagina. I read to check with two fingers and "squeeze" the cerfix to check for mucus. When I did this I discovered the bloody mucus. My friend told me some women have this ovulation bleeding and it is normal not to worry.

Hi everyone, not really an answer, just wanted to say how relieved i am to read all this! i've had spotting / light bleeding mid-cycle for a couple of years (and on and off before that), and i'd never thought much of it until recently when someone told me it wasn't normal and could be a sign of something serious. V.relieved when google led me here... it seems like it's actually very common. i just get a couple of days of spotting, which, mixed with my normal discharge around that time, means that i have to wear a pantyliner, but that's no great hassle really!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with this problem. I have been trying to get pregnant for 8 months. I have had spotting before ovulation, during and after. Not all in the same month, it will change on me. I took Clomid for one month in Dec. and my ovaries enlarged and I developed a cyst. This cause a lot of irregular bleeding. My last cycle length was 31 days and I think I ovulated on the 15th or 16th of this month. For the past 3days I have had very light spotting and today some light to medium bleeding. I also didn't know if this was implantaton bleeding, spotting, or starting my period early. How the heck do you know????

First off, I'm so glad that what I'm going through appears to at least be somewhat common. I have experienced brownish blood around what I *think* is my ovulation time (my periods are somewhat irregular), but last night I started bleeding a lot more than what the midcycle bleeding has usually been like, and it's more red. Any ideas why it might be so heavy? My period isn't due for at least another week.

My cycles range anywhere from 33-56 days and it is only during my longer cycles that I have some mid-cycle spotting. I've been charting my temps for several months as we've been TTC and noticed that the spotting usually occurs up to a week before I actually ovulate. If you are in doubt as to whether or not the spotting corresponds to ovulation then I would recommend charting your temps so you know for sure.

Hey everyone!! It is good to know that I am not alone in this battle. My husband and I have been trying for 6 months now and bleeding , ovulation , the whole fertility process could be confusing, frustrating , and just plain upsetting but one thing i realize in this whole process while i wait for my blessing to come is that the most important thing is to believe that we will bring children into this world , not by our own power but with God's help. Prayer have brought me through some obstacles before ,so this doesnt make it any different . Just believe my sisters and we shall recieve!

I have been trying for over a year with no success. Some cycles have been normal lenght (20-30 days) But some are longer (45-50 days). I have been to an OB and my ultrasounds are normal as are the paps. Seems that durring a long cycle I get spotting that isn't linked to ovulation at all. Estrogyn rises to push ovulation causing brownish discharge but isn't enough to cause ovulation. The spotting stops and my BBT and CM fluctuates before the process starts all over again. It is makes me mad that my body is working against my hopes of child birth. I chart CM BBT and LH. Currently on cycle day 37 no ovulation as of yet. Only my second cycle this year.

Hey everyone, I hope you all are well. I was waiting to post until I had more news to share with everyone, but things are great here. I went to the Dr. at about 6 1/2 weeks and was able to see the hearbeat on the ultrasound. It was such a relief. I was told that I have a tender cervix and an infection (due to increase vaginal secretions which can be common with early pregnancy). My Dr. said that the infection is fairly common with increased mucous, but due to the tender cervix and some bad coughing i was experiencing (thanks to whatever bug happened to be going around at the time) it was causing bleeding. So thanks to a good round of antibiotics, robitussin, a little bit of rest, and :( no sex with the hubby until my next visit, the bleeding has stopped and we think that everything is going to be fine. We are so thankful and I hope that this is helpful to anyone experiencing the same things and let this give you hope. I am now 8 1/2 weeks pregnant and my husband and I are thrilled - we are going to tell the family over the Easter holiday, but will reamin cautious. For those of you who are still trying - don't give up! It can happen for you at any time maybe sooner than you know. I'm glad that everyone here is being supportive of all because we are all in this together. I hope everyone (including me) has a successful pregnancy and many beautiful babies! Oh, by the way - I'm only having one... I know thanks to the ultrasound :) but hopefully it is one healthy, happy baby!! Good luck all!!

I have had 2 polypectomies in the past 8 mths. Now I am trying to conceive and the Dr. has put me on clomid ( I do not start taking it until my period arrives this month). I am noticing a couple days of spotting light red to brown during mid cycle and am afraid the clomid will make it worse or I will be unable to get pregnant. Note: the reason I feel like I do about the Clomid is because while trying to regulate my cycle after surgery the Dr. tried birth control pill & patch. Both caused intermittent bleeding and heavy periods. My body just does not react well to hormone pills I guess. Should I just go see a fertility specialist and not wast my time w/ my reg. ob/gyn?

Oh, I also forgot something. If you notice the mid cycle bleeding, should you have had sex prior to, during, or after. If this is a sign of ovulation, I have heard that you should have sex before. I just want to make sure this is right. THANKS everyone who has posted on this website. It has been a blessing reading your stories and gives me hope...God bless

hi, so relieved to find this site! I am also trying to be pregnant & am worried because i started to bleed three days after my last period. I don't know if it's ovulation bleeding, implantation bleeding or my body is just doing it's own thing to confuse me! My breasts are very sensitive and 'burning' inside, pregnancy test was negative. ovulation test was positive! I am very confused!!!

My partner and I have been trying to conceive for about 5 months. I am on a 33 day cycle and period never arrived. Did a pregnancy test 4 days later which cameout positive. I had been noticing a dark brown discharge from the day before doing the test which doc says could be implantation bleeding but I have had it now for 8 days on and off although today less than any other day. Any advice? Could this be a miscarriage? Waiting confirmationof pregnancy from urine sample - results on Fri

Answer:
Just a word to the wise...if you are having ANY type of bleeding between periods and you are not sure if it is ovulation bleeding--see your Dr. It can be anything from hormones, bacterial infection or a polyp(s). All which could possibly interfere with conception, however easily treated for the most part. I know from experience as I am now ttc also. I start my first round of Clomid next month. Best of luck to all ttc.:)

When I went to the bathroom this past cycle, mid morning, I saw alittle spot of pink on the toilet tissue the day I would normally ovulate. Does that mean I ovulated that day or could the pink spot indicate that ovulation is about to occur later that day or the next? Thanks!

Almost ever question I read throughout this web site, they lead to one big problem. Lack of one major hormone PROGESTERONE. Just make sure to spend the money on a progesterone cream that has 500 mg per ounce of progesterone. Apply two times a day 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon on soft skin. Start on day 7, yes day 7, especially those with PCOS. This hormonal cream changed my life. Think about it for those trying to get pregnant, progesterone is the biggest role player in early development. It can only help, trust me.
