CLOMID PG'S.....more likely on days 3-7 or 5-9??

Name: Lindsey Title of Question: CLOMID PG'S.....more likely on days 3-7 or 5-9??

Question: People who have conceived on Clomid please answer......did you take it on days 3-7 or 5-9?? My dr. prescribed me 5-9, but I want to know if 3-7 is more likely to get pg. Tnanks!!

Answer: I just started my first round of clomid this month, but my doctor said that normally it is more effective days 3-5 (which is what I did) I am due for AF on 8/26 so I will let you know... good luck to you :)

Answer: Hi Lindsey I took my Clomid on days 2-6 and I got pregnant first time after trying to concieve for over 2yrs. Everybody is different though. Hope you full pregnant soon.

Answer: I have not taken clomid yet, but I have researched it a lot b/c my doc wants me to take it. I think that if you take it days 3-7 you are likely to form more follicles than if you take it days 5-9. It seems that the norm is for doc to prescribe it days 5-9 for a month or 2 first, then if you O but are not preg, changes the days to 3-7. If you are not O'ing w/clomid, the dose gets up'ed, til you do. But each doctor is different some say they get better results with days 3-7 and some better results with days 5-9. I say you should probably follow doctor's orders unless you don't feel comfortable with his plan for you or his treatment of you; then you should get a different doctor. Good luck

Answer: When to start really depends on the individual and why they are taking clomid. Taking clomid days 3-7 may not give some woman any advantage to achieve pregnancy. I took clomid for follicular production for IUI. I've taken it on both 3-7 and 5-9. My initial response to clomid on cd 5 was 7 follicles on one ovary and 5 on the other. After a few more cycles I was only able to get 1 follicle. My doctor then moved me to cd3 and I had 4. For my situation, follicular development, the longer I used clomid, the least effective it became. If I had moved to cd3 earlier than 5 cycles, I would have been on injectibles a lot sooner. With all things medicine, its best to approach conservatively. Your doctor will be able to monitor your cycle to see if the clomid on cd 5 is effective, it not he can move you to cd3 if needed.

Answer: Research does seem to support that you will get better results from 2-7 or 2-6 than 5-9 but the controversy is the possibility that the eggs produced from the early cycles may not be "mature enough" though I've seen more than enough pregnancie resulting from those early cycles to believe that it definitely works often enough. And research doesn't say one way or another about the maturity really. Answer: The reason more pregnancies are achieved with cd3 vs cd5 is that earlier use of clomid stimulates follicular stimulation. Woman who begin clomid on cd3 typically have a greater response and produce more follicles than woman who begin on cd5. Also, injectible use is more common with woman who begin on cd3. The injectibles keep the follicular development moving forward. But again, our ovaries are like lemons and their is only so much we can squeeze out of them. An unnecessary large level of clomid taken earlier in the cycle can limit the number of clomid cycles available to a person.
