Ok, I know the areolas are supposed to get darker when pregnant. I also know that not every woman experiences all of the traditional pregnancy symptoms. So my question is this: do the areolas *always* get darker? Or is that only a possibe symptom? Maybe those that have been pregnant before can answer this. Thanks everyone! ↓

I am almost 100% positive that all women experience darkening of the areolas to some degree during pregnancy. However, it is in my experience and in those I know experience that the darkening does not happen as a symptom but much further into the pregnancy around the 4th or 5th month. GL! ↑

Sometimes it can happen early, but to others it happens later. But yes the darkening and enlarging will happen at one point or another during pregnancy. The reason is so that in case you decided to breastfeed that the baby kind of has what I like to think of as a target when breastfeeding, so they know where to go. Mine look about 3 times bigger than normal, and darkened 3-4 shades. I cant remember when it happened, but I remember they got larger somewhat in the beginning, but I think continued to get larger and darker till DS was born. They stayed that way until I stopped breastfeeding. :) hope this helps some. ↑

*looked* as far as I know so far I am not pg, but still waiting to test. My aereolas have not gotten larger, but are still dark from DS being born. ↑
