Answer: Hi Abby, I'm guessing you mean a hysterosalpingogram? I've had it and the worst of it was the speculum. I didn't even notice when the dr injected the dye. But some people say it can be uncomfortable. I guess it depends on the person. I also have had a hystersonogram. Twice. And that wasn't so bad either for me. Again just the speculum was uncomfortable. The hysterosalpingogram was pretty quick too. I did have a lot of bleeding afterwards though just to warn you. They led me to a bathroom to change and it seemed like a ton of blood came out when I sat on the toilet and I needed a pad afterwards. I guess the dye bothers the lining and causes you to bleed. I had the test done on my lunch hour and went right back to work. =

Answer: I won't lie to you - I had a hsg in March and it was f*$king painful. I almost vomited with the pain. I'm one of the unlucky ones with a very sensitive uterus I guess but I really wish I had known that beforehand. I wasn't expecting it and that made it worse I think. However, the pain did go away quickly but I was uncomfortable for about 24 hours afterwards. I had the same thing as sunshine too, lots of blood afterwards but the doctor said that's normal. However, in the end it didn't effect ovulation or af so I guess the body recovers pretty quickly. Good luck, hope it goes better for you! I'm not trying to scare you but just wanted to you be forewarned at least. =

Answer: Naomi98, are your tubes blocked by any chance? I always wonder if peoples tubes are blocked, maybe it's more painful b/c the fluid has nowhere to go and just builds up in your uterus and causes pain. Just curious. =

Answer: Hi Sunshine, I also heard the same thing but I didn't have any blockages so that wasn't the reason it was painful for me. I think it just really varies from woman to woman. I had read up a bit about it beforehand and definitely the majority of accounts weren't painful so that's why I guess I'm in the minority! =

Answer: I had my HSG done. Mine was quite painful at times. They had to use a dialator on me. Not sure why, but they did. My tubes were clear. Good Luck =

Answer: Hi everyone, I am new to this threat. I was thinking to have one done too if I didnt get pregnant within this month or two. I was thinking maybe will have the artificial insemination if didnt get pregnant within a reasonable time, now has been ttc for half year no luck =P will have the test and see if everything is okay. Dr say even if we want artificial insemination we need this check as well...what are the reasons for your all to have this test anyway? sorry if this is too personal .... =
