Elective Cesarean Insurance

Hi Everyone, Has anyone had a c-section by maternal request (i.e. notmedical issue necessitating the cesarean)? If so, could you share with me how your insurance handled it? Did they pay as much as they would've paid for an emergency c section? Did you have to pay out of pocket? Also, what state are you in? Please do not respond to this post to tell me what a bad idea an elective c section is. I'm not necessarily even planning one, I'm just gathering info on my options and this is info that I need. I've seen too many threads on the topic of elective c sections turn to flames so if you try to engage me in a conversation on the merits of elective c sections I just won't respond. Thanks to anyone who has info for me : ) I really appreciate it! Mellie

I would say the best thing to do is call your insurance company and ask directly because every insurance is different. Also you could ask your doctor about it because he/she might have experience with that insurance.
