Hi all. I went to the doctor yesterday for my first scan. I am 6w2d along. There was a strong healthy heartbeat at 138 bpm and all was well with that. Then as she got to looking around, there was another yolk in the same gestational sac on the other side. She said there was a possiblility of twins. Is it possible that one isn't developing as fast as the other???? Anyone have any thoughts?? ↓
There was only one heartbeat. You could actually see the baby and the yolk sac with the heartbeat, but on the other side of the sac there was another yolk, but no heartbeat or anything. ↑

It sounds like it started as twins and only one developed (which is actually common) I believe that if the other yolk is not viable, it will be reabsorbed. Six weeks is a little early, sometimes the heartbeat is not seen until around 7 weeks, so maybe it's just a late starter. I would call the doc and see if you can get a better explanation. I know it's hard when you're there, you always think of all these questions after you leave. When do you go back for the next ultrasound? ↑

To answer your question, my next appointment is on July 10th. I will be 8w5d then. Hopefully the other one will pull through! I had a miscarriage in March, so this would be so great if both survive! (But I won't be disapointed if I just get one healthy baby) :) ↑

Yes, I'm just 16 weeks. I have had some issues already and my last pg was full of complications so I kind of know how you feel with the worrying. Pregnancy is so stressful as I'm sure you know. I am so sorry to hear of your loss in March, but you have been blessed! ↑

Congrats to you! I wish I was in my 16th week! I would be past the first trimester. Since my miscarriage happened at 7 1/2 weeks last time, I'm pretty nervous and will be until I at least get past that point. sticky baby dust to both of us! ↑
