Well first off, I am 38 weeks pregnant...I have been having this weird fetal movement that started probably a month or so ago but when it started it only happened about once a day for a few minutes, it gradually got more and more frequent and now I feel it probably anywhere from 3 to 6 times a day...The movement I am talking about is like the baby is moving her feet in and out, in and out, in and out, it's like repeated evenly spaced movements that lasts anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes...I asked my doctor what it was and she said that fetuses practice breathing movements, although they cant actually breathe oxygyn they practice the movements in the uterus and some woman can see or feel it happen when they are practicing this but she also said that it must be her back or chest that I am feeling but that is not possible because when I feel these movements it is by my rib cage where her feet are (since she is head down and has dropped her back would be in my lower abdomen where I never feel any movement.)...Soo sorry if this is soo long but I was wondering if anyone thinks I should be worried about this and if any of you have experienced this or might know what I am talking about or what it could be???? ↓

...Im sure some of you have felt the baby have hiccups right?? With hiccups the movement is kinda like a quick jerk like a hiccup (lol bear with me, im trying to explain the best I can, it's kinda hard) these movements are way slower but rhythmic and repetitive like hiccups. When the doctor said baby was practicing breathing movements that is exactly what it's like. Only its like she is just sticking her foot out then back in...i dunno its weird. I am hoping someone knows what i am talking about... ↑

You know, there isn't much room in there, and it may just be that she is trying to stretch out, but to you it feels like a frantic movement. I am 36 weeks 4 days and sometimes I feel like my little man is doing a dance. I could swear that both legs and both arms are flaling all around. I watch my tummy when it happens and it is very bizarre. I know exactly what you mean when you discribe the hiccups, and I understand the breathing movements as well. When they are practicing the breathing it does manifest as a whole body movement. They kindof stretch out and then retract. I had a 3D/4D ultrasound and actually got to see it in real time. If you are worried, don't be. I am sure everything is perfectly normal. If there were something really wrong at this point, your OB would have picked up on it. This is our second child and I have to say that this pregnancy has been very different from the first. This baby moves around a lot more and is more vigorous. Is this your first child? ↑

With all 3 of my pregnancies I used to get this weird movement in my belly, and it started after about 36 weeks or so. The baby would all of a sudden move really fast inside of me, like a convulsion almost. It freaked me out the first time it ever happened. I thought the baby was in distress or having a seizure or something. My Dr. said he wasn't sure what the movement was exactly, but that it was something quite common that women would ask about when they were in the last weeks of pregnancy. It's almost like the baby got really hyper all of a sudden or was trying to break out, lol! I knew what to expect with my 2nd and 3rd pregancies after that. It's so easy to get worried during the first pregnancy because all these movements are weird and new. Especially when you are almost at the end of your pregnancy and you get nervous and just want everything to turn out well. Don't worry, as long as baby is moving around frequently and Dr. says everything sounds good then all you have to do is wait for your LO to make it's presence. Congrats in advance! ↑
