I am about 5 weeks pregnant and have fibromyalgia. I have a 3 year old but I wasn't diagnosed with the fibro with my first pregnancy. I'm looking for answers, websites or any type of information that would be helpful for me. If anyone out there has dealt with this illness while pregnant please contact me or help me find info about this. Everything I've come across says there isn't alot of info on pregnancy and fibromyalgia

I am on my second pregnancy and have had fibro since I was a teen (36 now). You are right about the lack of info, but there are some simple steps to feeling better. Remember to get a good night's sleep and drink plenty of liquids. I found tremendous relief from swimming and water aerobics. Remember to rest, rest, rest. Ask for help and don't over do it. Some women get relief from the increased hormone relaxin. I have less back pain, but increased hamstring trouble. I never miss my Physical Therapy appointments. Keep yourself healthy and you'll be fine. A doctor once told me: 1/3 of women get better, 1/3 stay the same, and 1/3 get worse. Here's hoping you are in the first third! AMY

I am 41 and 32w 1d, I have a 5 yr old girl. I was dx in Aug '99. No major problems during my first pregnancy. However, my second I had problems becoming pregnant and turned to fertility doctors. The fertility hormones mentally did me in to start. I was so depressed already that by the time the pregnancy actually happened my depression became extremely severe. So much so work became impossible. Now further along the pain has been extremely difficult for me. I do what I can to rest, but that is painful for me also. I just can't get comfortable. And ironically when I do fall asleep and am comfy it's time to get up and go. I'm seeing the OB today and asking when is the earliest this birth can take place. I'm afraid that I'm going to be so "broken" that I won't be able to take care of my baby.
