I am 24 almost 25 weeks pregnant, I am feeling a lot of discomfort in my lower abs, and on the sides. I went to the doctor and they said everything was fine but I want to induce labor now. I want to hold my little baby girl and I need to know... is a safe way to induce early labor?

I know how ya feel. im so miserable and ready to have my baby girl now. i am at 29 weeks. my friend just had her baby early due to pre-eclampsia at 28 weeks and she only weighed 2lbs 4 oz. you want to carry your baby as long as you can, so she will be healthy. if she is born now you wont get to hold her, she will be struggling for life in an incubator. just hang in there and hold on to her as long as you can!

olivia....ok, um this post is worrisome....why would you want to induce your labor when your baby isnt even done growing? 40 weeks is full term and you are just over halfway there. think of what is best for her. if you have that baby now you risk her not even survivng...immature lungs, brain bleeds, chances of developing infections...the chances of her having developmental issues are huge. you wouldnt even be able to hold her.....i would seriously rethink your motives. why would you even want to risk it? perhaps you need to talk to someone about this.....find out the facts from a professional and i hope you change your mind.

umm there is no doctor on the planet that will tell you it's ok to induce at this early gestational age - there is no guarantee that your baby would survive being born this early - be patient honey - suck it up - if you tried to induce yourself now and had a bad outcome I don't think you would ever forgive yourself you have 15 weeks to go - you can do it .....take a bath or take some tylenol that will help with your pain....

there is only one thing i can say to this...SELFISH honestly i promise you i was in more pain that you...with a dislocated hip...bad sciatic pain on both sides... and on bed rest due to other complications and I NEVER once said hmmm let me induce labor so i can stop this pain.... your baby isnt anywhere near ready to come out and yet you want to risk your childs life so you can be more comfy?? HONESTLY GROW THE HELL UP...and i feel so sorry for your child because if you are this dumb and selfish now...i can't even imagine what life your child has instore.... you would risk the life of your child because you have some pain... very mild pain if i might add...some ab and ligiment pain... and you want to get your baby out... you make me sick i really hope this is a fake post...i am so irritated by this post... there are woman who have gone into labor that early and lost their children or have children with severe problems that would give anything in the world for it to NOT have happened to them..and yet you want to bring your baby LONG before he or she is even developed??!! you disgust me.... selfish selfish...immature selfish girl..you aren't ready to be a parent if you cant put your child before yourself... i pray this is a fake post.... because i fear for your child...

I had a friend who's babygirl was born at 24 weeks and guess what? She died. My son was born at 36 weeks and STILL spent a week in the NICU. Babies at 24 weeks have MAYBE a 4O% chance of survival. Next to my son there was a baby girl that was born at 24 and the father asked her nurse if she had gained any weight. The nurse told him she had gained 3 ounces so now weighed one pound 2 ounces. She was a skeleton of a child. Her skin was red and thin, nearly translucent and her ankle was thinner than my pinky finger. She was literally skin and bone. The rest of her I really couldn't see because she was covered with tubes and monitors. She was on oygen, a feeding tube, an iv with antibiotics and fluids, monitors, a billiruben light and God knows what else. A fullterm newborn cries simply because it's cold. How do you think a tiny baby, not even a pound, feels being poked with needles all day long? Have tubes down their throat? They can't even cry because their lungs aren't developed. Hell, I'm an adult and an IV hurts ME, I cried my damn eyes out every time they had to put one in my son. He only had one in for 3 days but guess what? IV's fall out and his had to be done 4 times during that. His hands and arms were bruised from them, as were his tiny feet from having blood drawn. I had contraction 3-5 minutes apart for 8 weeks straight. I was in labor and delivery all the time afraid my son would come too early. I had an amnio done at 36 weeks to see if his lungs were developed because my dr. thought he had a knot in his cord which put him at a high risk for stillbirth. That amnio put me into labor and I would have taken all the pain in the world to keep him from what he went through that week. How dare you even think of trying to have that poor baby so early.

Oh Olivia~

I think that you are not taking the beautiful opportunity of being pregnant. You couldn't have a more intimate bond than now, she is truly part of you. There is a oneness that I don't think can be matched.

I'm 35 weeks and I am sadden that my pregnancy will soon be over, yet very excited to go through the birthing process and hold her in my arms.

Why do you want it to be over so soon? She needs you to love her now, talk to her, tell her how you feel. I have no doubt that she respond to you.

I am the mother of a former 23 weeker. Trust me when I tell you: if you had ANY idea what it's like to watch your baby fight to live, you wouldn't be so eager to have her born. You won't be able to "hold" her. Her skin will be too fragile. You won't be able to do much of anything, except sit and pray that her brain doesn't bleed, that she doesn't end up with cerebral palsy (or worse), that she learns to eat on her own, that she doesn't get an infection, etc... She'll likely battle learning disabilities, sensory disfunction, motor skill and speech delays as well as a host of other issues.

After she spends (assuming she survives) months in the NICU, she'll need oxygen at home and you won't be able to have people come visit, because they could introduce her to germs that could kill her. Chances are good she'll deal with damaged lungs for many years, meaning asthma problems.

Trust me when I tell you that weeping by your child's bedside, as they cry soundlessly (due to the ventilator tubing) during multiple iv stick attempts (and they finally place one in her head) is FAR more painful then ANYTHING you could endure during pregnancy.

I am pregnant again now and want nothing more then to be in pain, bloated and uncomfortable beyond endurance. Anything that means this baby doesn't have to fight the way it's brother did, just for a chance at life.
