hey girlies... i noticed that we needed a new thread so here it is..... so i added a couple of pictures to the photobucket thingy. I need to transfer the pictures from my camera to my computer and i might do that today. so things have been pretty cool around here. Tripp is the most awesome baby! omg what a difference between crow and tripp. sheesh.. crow was a screamin' demon from the time he left the womb but this little man is so mellow. he is so easy to please. he either wants to eat or a pacifier. he totally doesn't even cry that much when i change his didy. although he does hate it when i change his clothes! lol and he doesn't really love the bath yet but i think he will. he is totally content to sleep or just to chill on my chest. but this is the first baby that actually will sleep in the bassinett. it is so awesome. oh and i absolutely love love love my cosleeper! it is the best! i just started using it two nights ago cuz i've been kicking it on the couch until my ouchy from my tubal healed cuz it was way too hard to get in and out of bed but it is all better now. and i swear my bed never felt so good! :o) so about the pumping thing... when i used to pump i used to do it after i fed baby and i definitely started to produce more milk when i did it like that. but of course now i'm not doing any boobie work! lol gosh it is so crazy that all of our babies are here already. it is kinda surreal! but i love it!

I found you guys!!! I read through most of the posts and am so glad that everyone seems to be doing well with their lo's:) I've been crazy busy trying to adjust to life as a Mommy and add to that we were evacuated from our house for 3 days because of a nearby forest fire -yep, me, Kirt, Kai and the 2 cats had to pack up the car and leave -and of course I had no idea what to pack to take for the baby so I ran out of clothes, blankets, diapers, etc by the second day, so you guessed it....I had to buy more baby stuff! I was so angry since I could picture his closet full of clothes at home, but it had to be done. We're all adjusting to the new member in the house and the new non-existant sleep schedule. I'm BF'd too and it seems to be going well (knock on wood!), but I'm hoping to start pumping so Kirt can give Kai a bottle every day too -then I can have a few hours to myself once and awhile....thanks for the advice about pumping after feeding -I never would have thought of that. Kai does cluster feeding during the day which makes it hard to make any kind of plans. Oh, and he's awake again -gotta run, but I'm going to try and get on here more!

hey pam! wow an evacuation huh? that sucks but at least it was only for three days! i'm in california and since this last weekend's thunderstorms and lightening we have had so many fires. i think the number for the entire state was at 842 fires. that is alot. since sunday the skies have been all gray with smoke and we can see the haze of smoke across the street now it's gotten that bad! i think it kinda smells good but i know it is not healthy. freddie has been so awesome today by the way! like last night he was getting bottles for me all night long which wasn't that much but every three hours and the help was certainly nice and appreciated! :o) he was being not so helpful up until that point but now he is being great. maybe the voodoo doll that i was pushing pins into the other day worked! lol but i seriously miss my taylor and my cody! taylor says she doesn't miss me yet... she said 'ah mom gimme another week to miss ya' lol so talking about losing weight..... i was at 157 pounds when i delivered and i'm now at 136 pounds. woot woot! but i really need to work on my ass! lol and the flabby flab! so my little bean is gonna be three weeks old tomorrow! wow the time has flown by already!

hey girls - Levi is totally different than Rachel too. He is a wonder child so far!! She came out screaming too and never stopped - right now she cries and screams 100% more than he does! He is sleeping like a doll too!!! The last 4 nights have been great except for a bit of hell on Sunday. He gives me at LEAST 5 hours but is averaging about 6 1/2. He eats, sleeps and poops - and doesn't cry unless I change his diaper. He likes getting his clothes on because he knows his diaper change is over. :) We're having a garage sale tomorrow - our neighborhood is having it's community G-Sale weekend so I though what the heck - why not get rid of some crap. It might be a nightmare with two kids but we'll see. DH is getting ready to BBQ some burgers. YUM!!! It's been gorgeous here -mid 70's and into the 80's this weekend. NO forest fires here! :) Sorry about the evacuation. I would have freaked out and packed the car full of everything I would ever possibly need. :) My ass and everything in the middle need some work. Got down to 165 this morning - I seem to drop about a pound or two a day right now. It won't last forever but..I'm enjoying it for now! I think most of it is water weight since I can see my foot bones now. haha...they aren't marshmallows!!

Hi ladies! Jaxon is growing like a weed. As of today he weighs 9lbs 5oz and he is just about a month old. He can go in 3-3.5 stretches between feeds during the day and then anywhere up to 6hrs at night. I started giving him one bottle during the day. My doc said it wouldn't interfere with my supply if I limited it to just one bottle. I want him to get used to the bottle because eventually I will be making the switch to formula. Let me tell you....he HATES the bottle. He moans and whines in anger & swats at the bottle...I persist though and eventually out of sheer hunger he takes 3oz. We are back in the hospital because his skin wasn't healing well enough with the oral antiobiotics he was getting...so the ped wanted him on a IV again. We are going to be in there for another week. It sucks! I miss my ds1 and my own bed. I just want Jaxon to be better though and off all this medication! I have lost 20lbs so am down to my pre-ds2 weight. Haha but not the weight I want to be at. I am striving to lose another 10lbs (pre- ds1 weight). If anyone wants to see my babysite: babysites.com/sites/deannedt/

Yay eastcoast! Long time no talk! Ah...I'm getting sick of writing kiss ass emails lol looking for a job is NO fun! I can't believe I go back in just 4 days :( I did EIGHT loads of laundry today! Ace is giving me a few mre smiles now. He's a bit of a crab I have to admit lol he just gets bored very easily. He doesn't like to sit still and just snuggle much. He's getting so much bigger already. I'm actually off to bed, just wanted to stop by!

haha ddt - my little chubster was 9.6 lbs 3 days after birth! He goes back on Tuesday for his second PKU test and I'm afraid to know what he weighs. He has to be at least 10 pounds by now. I dont' know how they gain weight with as much as they poop! I had changed him, started feeding him, he pooped again so I changed him, he finished eating - and pooped again! 3 times in 45 minutes!! I hate it when they poop right after you change them. :) Ok - I'm going to bed. Keep us posted DDK!

I would just prefer not to pump at work. I work second shift at a bank and we are on strict deadlines to finish our work so our breaks are based on work flow. I couldn't guarantee I could pump when I wanted to. Also the tuesday after a three day weekend is like HELL NO 15 min breaks there!! I just was confused about the whole offer both breasts at one feeding? and If I have to be to work for 4pm and don't get home until 10ish what do you think would be a good schedule to start pumping on?

Name: gabby509 | Date: Jun 27th, 2008 1:54 PM
Hi girls. Eastcoast good to hear from you! I'm so glad you and Kai and DH are doing good. That evacuation thing must have really sucked. I am so bad at preparing with things like that, and I probably would have run out of stuff the first day, haha. So King went to the dr. today. We went on Monday because he was congested and I got a little worried and then today was a follow up. So on Monday he weighed 10 pounds 3 ounces and now today, 4 days later he weighed 10 pounds 8 ounces. The dr. said he is in teh 95th percentile for his weight. She said breastfed babies don't usually gain weight this fast but that everything is still good and he's healthy. I got my hotsling in the mail yesterday ad I'm trying to figure it out. I put it on yesterday and put King in it and he looked at me like what the frig is this thing?, haha. He was so huge in there, all smooshed up. Oh and I saw everybody talking about the nipple sheilds before and I have a question. I was given a shield after I came down with the mastitis. They said I developed the mastitis because he wasn't latching on properly and that the shild would help to teach him. So I've been using it for a while now and it is really helpful. My question is that I saw some of you guys saying that it will hinder my milk production but I've been using it for 3 weeks now and my milk is still flowing strong. I have continued using teh shield because my let down is so fast that he gags and chokes if I don't use the shield. He latches on great now, but should I try to get him off the shield or is it ok to keep using it. I'd prefer to use it, but if it's going to hinder my milk production I guess I should stop? I don't know, I need advice!

Name: gabby509 | Date: Jun 27th, 2008 1:59 PM
I actually have so much milk that I have to pump after he eats just so that my boobs are completely emptied at each feeding. The doctor said I have a higher chance of developing an abcess since I had the mastitis and I need to make sure the breast is emptied after the feeding. Oh and also the lactation consultant said that King has an extrememly strong suck. So she said I am still getting enough nipple stimulation with or without the shield.

Name: gabby509 | Date: Jun 27th, 2008 3:14 PM
Where's everyone at? King is sleeping and it's only a matter of time before he wakes up, haha. Actually he is sleeping in his new hotsling. It;s pretty cool, I can't beleive he actually likes it. And it only took me like 2 hours to figure out how to actually put him in it, haha. Dawnie you gotta tell me how soho jobs goes because if you find something that's legit on there I'm gonna sign up for it. Me and Fred are trying to buy a house and me not having an "on the books" income is really really hurting us.

Ah I have 3 more days of freedom! I got a response back from a job as a youth specialist but I don't think I'm even gonna bother making an intervied. I would LOVE the job, but it's 7O miles away and a serious paycut so.....:( I'll have to weigh myself later then pick up ace so I can tell you all what he weighs. He was 8 pounds 15 ounces at his last appointment but that was 4 weeks ago. I went to walmart today and when I got home he was SO happy. He's hard to get smiles out of but they're coming :D he's usually very impatient and won't sit in one place long enough for me to really be able to play with him but we were laying on the bed and he was so much fun. If I held my hand out he would reach out and touch it. I think he'll be able to hold toys really soon.

hey girls. Tripp is asleep right now so I have a few minutes to get on here. He was kinda fussy this morning so I gave him a bath which he loved (NOT!) but then I fed him and it knocked his butt out! lol Ah man, Kay... three more days of freedom huh? are you going back to walgreens? you are right? do you have a set shift or do they change it on you every week? hey Dawnie - my fingers are crossed for you to get the job of your dreams! ;o) as far as weight gain for Tripp.... last thursday he weighed 5 lbs 10 oz and then on monday he weighed 6 lbs 4 oz and i'm sure now he weighs even more. freddie says he is getting to his fighting weight! lol but now i'm happy cuz he is finally gaining weight! yay for enfamil! lol :o)

Here's just a little blurb I found on nipple shields: Nipple shield. ONLY TO BE USED AS A LAST RESORT, the nipple shield is a flexible nipple made out of silicone that is placed over the mother's nipple during feedings so that latch-on is possible for the baby. To prevent the baby from becoming too addicted to nursing with the shield, it should be removed as soon as the baby is latched-on and nursing well. The length of time during the feeding that the shield is used should also be steadily decreased. Possible problems associated with the use of nipples shields include a drop in the mother's milk supply and insufficient transfer of milk to the baby. Because of these possible risks, it is strongly recommended that you only use a nipple shield under the direct supervision of a lactation expert such as as a lactation consultant or La Leche League leader. It should be noted, however, that even with the possible risks of using a nipple shield, as long as the mother is aware of what to watch for, breastfeeding with a nipple shield is much more preferable to not breastfeeding!

I just remember the lactation lady telling me to not use it very long -but I don't remember anything more than that. It was hard for me to use and I didn't like it so I gave it up with Rachel. We're having a garage sale today and it's been kinda lame. Not many buyer. :) We just want to get rid of our crap! My husband is practically giving stuff away...it's his first garage sale. :) He hates it too! Levi got up at 2:45 last night after I had oh, maybe 3 hours of sleep - and stayed up till 5. At about 4:30 I totally snapped at my husband for not getting up to help take care of him. Then I was all mad and decided I was just gonna get up for the day. :) haha..that lasted not very long. I had put Levi in his car seat and he passed right out - and then I was too mad to go back to bed so I waited up for a while - I had to be stubborn - and then went back to bed about 5am or so. At 7 my husband got up and took Levi with him and shut the bedroom door so I could sleep and of course, I felt really bad then. I was so emotional last night! I think my hormones are going crazy now. :)

haha fefer that sounds like a lot of nights/mornings at my house. I get so pissed off and snap at him then later feel really bad and almost embarassed. Lack of sleep does evil things to me! OMG I can't believe I forgot to mention I got af full on a few hours ago.....I got a free pms pass for being snippy this morning! He was like ohhhh hormones...that explains it....I'm staying away from you LOL

Ah disko I missed your post. Yep I'm going back to the hell hole. The only nice thing my boss does is try to keep me on a more regular schedule because I have small children at home.

Hello girls! I cant believe i missed you gabby! I was at violets appt then I made a poor choice by taking her to the grocery store with me - ugh did that suck she cried and cried so i had to carry her and wheel the cart at the same time I ended up holding her and pulling it along with me... but chas is with her dad this weekend so i had to go alone :o( Violet gained 2 lbs ! she is now 8lbs 12 oz and 2 and a half inches taller! the doctor of course told me AGAIN not to let her sleep with me - and she went on to tell me how a lady who went there suffocated her 4 month old by sleeping with him .... ugh .,..what to do what to do

Name: gabby509 | Date: Jun 27th, 2008 9:06 PM
Dawn, I did that the other day with King. I took him on like 4 errands and he was good the entire time until our last stop. We went to BJ's and he was good up until I was paying and then he started screaming his head off. I ended up taking him out of the cart and carrying him but it was REALLY difficult trying to push that huge ass cart with one hand. Then after I got all the way to the car some lady came up and asked me if I wanted her to hold the baby while I put my groceries in the car. I was like um no thanks. I wanted to tell her, you certainly can not hold my baby but you can put the groceries in the car for me, haha. Oh well. So Violet is catching up with her boyfriend. Ok well I'm gonna go eat my oreos and milk.

hahhahaha!! aww this is true! Seems violet has reddish brown hair and greenish brown eyes lately lol I just stare at her like .. who are you! hahaha I think she resembles my dad a little bit - I been on that soho jobs site for like a hour or two applying for jobs... seems like an OK site..but it is like all links to go to sites and apply for jobs and some of them i wonder if it is a legit site..I worked from home 2 times before for a few years each but none of these jobs seem like what I did ..ahh well I will keep looking ... i would like to be like a customer service rep for like online help thru instant messaging or something - not phone work.

Good luck with the job hunts girls! Kay I can't believe you go back to work in a few days....how long were you off for? That seemed to fly by! As of yesterday, Kai weighs 9lbs 5oz, which is a weight gain of almost 2lbs in a month:) The nurse said that was fantastic since the goal with breastfed babies is 1lb a month for the 1st 3 months -so I'm really happy:) Also, he slept for 6 hours straight last night!!! Part of the reason I haven't been on here in awhile is because he doesn't sleep like a newborn is supposed to:( He usually naps for an hour during the day, and then sleeps for 3 hours at night, up for a feed, sleeps for 2 hours, up for a feed and sleeps for 1hour, up for the day -so he's awake and alert ALOT. I was so happy to get 4hours of sleep straight last night -I feel like a new person:) So today's the day I'm going to try pumping and introducing a bottle each day so Kirt can feed him once and awhile. I'm a little nervous though since he won't even suck on a soother -he just spits it out and looks at me like I'm crazy for even trying. So we'll see what happens. Dawn, I love that Chas named her drawing Kai -that's cute! It is hawaiian for ocean and scottish for fire. And I can't remember who was talking about the flabby flab, but I've got it too and it's driving me nuts!!! I can't wait 'til my 6 week appt...once the dr gives me the ok, I'll start exercising again. Oh, and the evacuation, they gave us 10mins to get our stuff and get out. We were in the middle of bbq'ing so by the time we got the bbq put out, grabbed some stuff for Kai and managed to force the cats into their carriers, we had no time to pack anything for ourselves -wearing the same outfit for 3 days is not fun. But we managed -thank god Kai sleeps in a co-sleeper so we could just grab it and go!

Pam I am going to tell her what it means when she comes home she is with her dad this weekend but she will like knowing what it means. I knew a girl named kai actually ..then my friends sister named her son Kai - so i guess it can be either for boys or girls the name ? I like it alot it's different and alot of times with boys they miss out on unique names. Ugh the weather is crappy here today - rainy and way hot and humid. Plus a friend from NY is coming up to visit with her sister adn wants me to go by with the babe so I actually have to go out in this caca ...

Aw man, I just tried to put on my old fat jeans and they fit but were skin tight. I've always been a size 6 or 8 but right before I got preggo I gained some weight and was snug in an 8 and comfy in a 10. So my "fat" jeans are a 10 and they are way snug now. A size 10 would be good if I wasn't 5 foot tall, haha. I was 178 when I delivered and now I'm down to 155 but I'm used to being 130. Oh and we are going out to dinner tonight and I am forced to wear my maternity capris because all my other ones are wayyyyyyy too tight. I'm not happy about this. My mom is gonna watch King for a few hours while we go out. She's so excited and it sounds bad but I feel human again. Like we can go out and do things, not just sit around the house. Ok well hope everyone is doing good today, sorry for my rant!

Name: Sprinkles | Date: Jun 28th, 2008 4:32 PM
Aww have fun!!! I have NO babysitters lol well except chas! so i envy you there lol ...I got my capris on today they are a lil tight but they are my normal size which is a 13/14 ...its my HUGE hips.. ugh I am regulating my drinking habits though - i was getting carried away with the ice tea which is full of sugar and coolattas ...so i need to drink more dreaded water

Hi ladies, sorry I've had NO time... I think Ellie might be colicky so I've been losing a ton of sleep. She's only eating for like two minutes at a time but she eats every 15 minutes because she's so busy crying. My milk is starting to dry up a bit so I'm going to give in and buy a pump. Anyway, I added pictures of her to photobucket.

Name: kay101 | Date: Jun 28th, 2008 7:31 PM
Wow I was the super duper uber bitch from hell today. I only got 3 hours of sleep yesterday and then I was up all night with bitty man till 7am. Sleep deprivation on top of pms...man not a good combo for the hubby. I think I struck the fear of God in him because he let me sleep all day but I'm pretty sure he's pissed now :P I've been having problems getting on because I guess my virus protection expired and I had to renew it because my computer was acting up.....turns out it was full of virus' and all sorts of fun stuff. I still have to weigh myself and bitty man so I can share how big he is. I have no baby sitter either....we haven't done anything by ourselves in about a year.

Name: disko love | Date: Jun 29th, 2008 2:33 AM
oh gabby I'm so jealous of you and fred being able to go out! Lucky! I dont have my babysitter yet either (aka Taylor LOL) and there is no way in hell I would leave both of my little ones with mil - no way jose! hahaha oh dear amanda - every 15 minutes with only 2 minutes of actual feeding time?!? Dear lord - you are one strong girl! That is difficult for both you and ellie! Hang in there momma! My little man has been awesome *knock on wood* he sleeps for about 3-4 hours all night long and he is pretty good during the day he has been alert more for the past few days which is cool. Ok I'm off to watch a movie with freddie now. Talk to you later!

Name: fefer1 | Date: Jun 29th, 2008 3:49 PM
hey ladies - I only have a second since I need to head outside - it's 85 in my house right now, It sucks. we decided to try going to a Drive-In Movie Theatre on friday with both kids. I figured Rachel would fall asleep since it doesn't start till 10 and Levi, well, he's easy. Well...Rachel would NOT go to sleep, screamed for over an hour till we let her get up and sit with us, screamed some more, jumped all over us and the back seat. I wanted to give her away. :) Levi slept through it all. He ate right before the movie started and got a quick one in when it ended. I was so frazzled by the end of the night I wanted a drink. :) I was already sleep deprived since Levi got up at 4am Friday and was up till 6 and I had to get up at 7 for our garage sale. NEVEr again does she get to go with us!!! Levi sleeps really good though. Just about every night this week he's slept for at least 6 hours, usually 7. Last night he went to sleep at 10:30 and woke up at 4 to eat and was instantly asleep again till 7. He is sooo easy! Amanda, I feel for you. Rachel was very colicky and had acid reflux BAD. I'd check with your doctor about the eating thing - that doesn't sound normal to me. Every 15 and only for two minutes???? Maybe there's something you're eating she doesn't like?? I don't know - I'd check just to see what the doctor says. Poor thing though!! Ok, got to get outside in the shade where it's cooler. I'll check in later!!!

Name: amanda17 | Date: Jun 29th, 2008 4:24 PM
Thanks fefer, I'll call her doctor. I havent been eating anything out of the ordinary though. I am so worried about her. She cries non stop. :(

Name: kay101 | Date: Jun 29th, 2008 7:11 PM
Hey amanda you might want to try cutting dairy out of your diet for a few days or about a week and see if that helps. A lot of babies are very sensetive to it. Try pumping and see if she takes it from a bottle....if she does she might be having some latch problems. Sorry you had such a rough night out fefer! We've done pretty well on our outings so far, but liss is old enough to hold still for a while :P I have nothing exciting going on....just obnoxious cramps and I'm really down about tomorrow being my last day at home.
