My 10 mo LO is have a very very hard time with teething. The first tooth came in no problem. Then a week later (this week) 3 teeth strated coming in. The 2 top front teeth and one lower tooth. One of the top teeth has broken the gum, the other 2 are just hanging out causing her great pain (she grabs at her ears). A friend told me use Infant Motrin. It's working well. Any reason to be concerned with Infant Motrin? She is on day 3 of it, 4 times per day as she is night waking with the pain (it wears off around 2 am). ↓

Yeah, I hate when it does that. I don't see any problem with the motrin if it is for infants, maybe just take a break from it after 4-5 days and try some other things because the more she has less it will work. Have you tried Baby Orajel? I found this kind that isn't the gel, it's like liquid drops in a small bottle. I think it works really well, also I bought some small freezies for my 2 oldest and I gave my lo one that wasn't opened and I smoothed the sharp edges with scissors. She loved it because it was so cold and I gave it to her before bedtime with some drops and she slept really well for the first time in days. Maybe something like that will help your lo too. ↑

Thanks Crystal. well the day before the Motrin I royally screwed up and gave the orajel to my LO THEN gave her the bottle at bedtime. Well, that resulted in her being unable to take a bottle, screaming bloody murder for almost one hour! We'll just have to get through this. The doc office said call after 5 days on Motrin. You would think the other 2 teeth might be popped by then though. ↑

Oh, I never heard about that! I feel for you, I have done the same thing at night with my lo, and it took almost an extra hour for her to fall asleep cause she couldn't eat right away. It's all a learning process...lol! ↑

I don't know about going blind from using it but any kind of pain reliever is meant to be taking temporialy. It can cause liver damage if taken for a long period of time. But, for a week or so shouldn't be a problem. ↑

Hi Melissa, I noticed you said your dd is grabbing her ears? Could her pain be from an ear infection? I bring this up b/c my poor dd was suffering for almost a wk with what I thought was teething (and it may have been that too) and a very low-grade fever 99.1, she started grabbing her earrings on one ear very intermittingly---I thought she had just "discovered" the earrings ..turns out she had double ear infections. ↑

p.s I gave her tylenol AND motrin...alternating the doses every 2 hrs (so she's getting tylenol every 4 hrs and motrin every hours)...I did that when her pain got to be too much and it helped. ↑

Poor baby! It's so hard to see them in pain...Infant Motrin is what I use for my ds when his mouth is bugging him. Gosh, I never heard that story of that family...that is so sad. I usually rotate what I do for him. I hold off on the motrin as long as possible, trying teething rings, cold clothes, carrot sticks (he LOVES to gnaw on them), a sippy cup...when nothing else will soothe him I offer the drops. GL and I hope your dd feels better real soon! 3 at once! Poor thing... ↑
i give my lo natural teething tablets from a health food store and they work awesome. Way better then the pain relievers. You just desolve then in a bit of water and bango no more pain. They also relax and soothe. He sleeps all night if he has them. ↑
