Pregnant with twins naturally
Name: Anne
Question: I'm just curious how many people got pregnant with twins on their own. I did. But it seems like a lot of people are having twins due to fertility drugs. How many of you ladies are a "natural wonder"? ?

Answer: Me...29 weeks with fraternal twins. A boy and a girl. Totally accidental pregnancy and twins to top it off. Whats even worse they dont run in my family and he only has one set in his and its like distant family. LOL Go figure, I wasnt even prepared for pregnancy...I get twins. I have so many questions, but this particular room doesnt move very fast so no one talks to me. I want to know if other people are going through what I am! Anyways congrats and I will be sure to check back! =

Answer: My pregnancy was unexpected too. I keep having these feelings of not wanting two. One baby would be fine, but twins seems so diffucult. My doctor told me this is normal. Anyway, the twins run in my family. My sister has twins. Guess I was playing with fire. =

Name: Robyn | Date: August 10, 2005, 17:59
Answer: I think its a total common feeling. I still get those feelings once in a while. The begining though was the toughest. I didnt think I could handle it and went through a sort of depression. I have accepted it more now and my family is really excited so it makes it easier for me to be excited. Its a blessing and you never get more than you can handle. Dont ever be afraid to ask for help either. How far along are you?  =

Answer: I'm 15 weeks..... and it feels like i've been pregnant for 2 years....lol. =

Answer: I am a "natural wonder". I actually am the first in my family to have twins. They don't run at all in my family. They are contributing the twins phenom for me from the gastric bypass surgery I had a year ago. The is if they are fraternal. If they are Identical then it was just a fluke.  =

Answer: Me,i am 30 weeks with identical twin boys.I was actually on birth control when i got pregnant.Never the less it is truly a blessing,i think we are the lucky ones.My time is getting close and i am sooooo excited.Good luck to all of you!!!! =

Answer: i'm happy for this post because the rest are about clomid babies! I am 24 y/o and 23 weeks pregnant with twin boys. They are totally natural, and twins don't run in my family either. I was super-overwhelmed but my husband was excited, and once the shock wore off, our families were thrilled (they didn't know we were ttc!) and have made it so that we will get TONS of help from them once the twins are born (around Thanksgiving). The feelings of "I just wanted one!" are COMPLETELY normal and common. But at the same time, we are getting 2 for 1 - less time being pregnant and if you only wanted 2, you'll be done! We want 4, so this is just a jump start :)... let's keep this thread up - I agree, this section is slow! congrats, ladies :) =

Answer: Hey Anne, 15 weeks huh? Wow...I know it feels like forever. I am almost 30 weeks and Am soooooooooo ready now! They are starting to drop slightly and sitting right on my intestines it feels like. I have basicly stopped sleeping all together because I cant get comfortable. I am having braxton hicks like you wouldnt believe and am about one more, "OMG youre getting so huge" comment away from going all postal and hurting someone! LOL I hate those comments but hey...comes with the teritory!  =

Answer: natural for me as well.. I'm week 30 with identical twin boys. Just like Krystal =) Twins also run in my familly so I kinda expected to have them. I'm very excited because these are my 1st kids so i'm hoping this is it for me. I am also very happy they are boys because I cannot imagine raising two teenage girls =)  =

Answer: Me too -- totally natural -- and unexpected (i.e. completely unplanned). I'm 38, with a demanding job, and we already have a little toddler, so now we'll spend the first few months with three kids under age 2 -- yikes! I just found out that they are twins -- I'm only 12 weeks into this pregnancy and can't wait for the 24 hour "morning" sickness to end. When do you go from absolute fear to excitement? Seems like everyone else is excited for me (some even use the word "jealous"), and all I think of is, "oh, gracious..." So glad to read your stories - it makes me feel less alone and freaked out. Thanks. =

Name: Robyn | Date: August 11, 2005, 17:50
Answer: Teresa, I think I am still going through bits and pieces of being terrified. Everyone else was excited for me and I was so unhappy and scared. Even though I was, "Blessed," I didnt start getting excited until I saw the 2nd u/s and you could see the two different people in there and hear the two heart beats and its just amazing. Then got terrified again at how much stuff I needed for TWO babies and the preperation at hand, then excited again when I found out my work was throwing me a baby shower and my sister so I am getting loaded up on stuff so its not as stressful on me. Its normal for hormonal women to go back and forth like that especially with twins! =

Answer: I am also expecting twins naturally and when I found out I was so shocked. Never saw that coming but my husband and I are so happy but we have not told any one in our familiies. We really want to surprise them. Anyways Good Luck to all of you. I am due in December but feel like I'm going to pop. Is anyone having problems with varicose veins. My legs look like a map and I feel so much pressure when I'm standing. I'm 17 weeks and so worried. I just want everything to be ok. All I here at the doctor is that my pregnancy is high risk and well you know how that goes. I still have a while and so I'm concerned like everyone of course. Anyways Good Luck to all of you and Enjoy Your Little Angels!! =

Name: Sam | Date: August 11, 2005, 21:25
Answer: Hi, glad to see more "surprise" twin stories. I am almost 36w1d with identical twin girls, all natural, twins to NOT run in my family. I am ready to be done. The docs say that I have come a long way with No serious complications. If I don't go into labor on my own, I am scheduled for induction at 37 weeks. That's next Wednesday!! Yikes! Wish me luck.  =

Answer: Its so good to know that there are other people out there in the same boat!!! I just found out yesterday! I feel silly to ask this question, but does fraternal twins mean when they are sharing the same sack? (with the one placenta??) I know how you feel Mary, about the doctors negative side to it all!! Im gonna go and see a different doctor next week! Oh and Congratulations to everyone on there double joys to come!! =

Answer: I am 30 weeks and 4 days pregnant with identical twin boys. I got pregnant with twins naturally and on birth control. I was not planning on having children for another 2-3 years. I have twins on my mother's side and my husband is an identical twin. Oh well, this is my blessing from God and I have finally accepted the fact that in 4 weeks I will be the mom of two little boys. =

Answer: Me too...7 weeks pregnant with twins. A total shock...I am 35 with 13 and 10 year old girls...so there were no baby plans for me. I haven't been pregnant in almost 11 yrs and this. WOW!!! Twins...I am still in shock. I was fine when my doctor told me that I was pregnant but twins. Everyday I am having feelings of not wanting twins. I have gone from having 2 children to 4...over night.  =

Answer: all natural right here! :) I carry the gene obviously.. my maternal grandfather was a twin and his mother actually gave birth to 4 sets of twins, yikes.. I read/heard it skips generations, but is possible each time. well, I'm 22w1d with twin girls :) how far along are u? do u know what you're having yet? my EDD is 12/16, but with twins, everyone knows they don't go that far.. dontcha think they ought to make a more predictable edd? =

Answer: YaY! all natural right here! :) well I carry the gene obviously because my maternal grandfather was a twin.. his mother actually gave birth to 4 sets of twins (yikes) and my maternal grandmothers sister has twins too.. I read/heard it skips generations, but is possible each time. the strange part though, is that I'm having identical girls, so that one was just my luck eh? lol I'm 22w1d so far :) my EDD is 12/16, but with twins, everyone knows they don't go that far.. dontcha think they ought to make a more predictable edd? lol- same here.. accident and then get twins. go figure, huh? lol.. its my moms first grandchildren and my grandmothers first great-grandchildren, so everyone is absolutely thrilled and the whole family is making sure I've got all my bases covered. what would we do without em? I love em to death. oh brother, I do already feel like I'm gonna pop, I'm wicked nervous about how much bigger I'm going to get.. and I seriously hope to give a natural birth, I really don't want my membranes stripped it sounds so painful! not to mention, I don't want the hep-b shot immediately after birth unless they're at high risk for it (so far, they're not).. there's so much going through my mind right now and being 22w1d along, I feel somewhat terrified of the labor itself.. feels like time is creeping up on me and going by so fast.. its a bit scary. argh, I'm typing a lot here.. lemme leave it at this and check back later, lol oh, I'm up ALL night because I can't get comfortable (my back) and the girls are jumping around in there between midnight and 4am *argh* anyone else with this issue? lol =

Answer: I'm having twins, it was all natural, I'm just confused as to what sort of pregnancy I'm having, the twins are in their own sac but have a large sac round the both of them, the share a placenta. Can you shed any light?? =

Name: to Katie | Date: August 18, 2005, 7:41
Answer: I am pregnant with twins, but they are in the same sac, sharing the same placenta! The doctor said that makes them identical twins! But he also said that they can have there own sac but share the same placenta, and that also makes them identical! I hope that has helped you!!! I wish all the best of luck! :)) =

Name: to Katie | Date: August 18, 2005, 7:50
Answer: sorry i meant to mention that my pregnancy is called monoamniotic twins, thats because they are in the same sack! It makes it a really high risk pregnany because the cords can get tanggled! Your doctor should told you all about the kind of pregnany that you are having, as all twin pregnancies are higher risk!!! =

Name: jena | Date: August 19, 2005, 23:14
Answer: do you guys know how long you'll go? My EDD is 12/5 but the longest I'll go is 39 weeks. Doesn't that seem LONG?! If I have an Amnio and it proves the babies are healthy, I can have a C-section at 38 but if I don't pop before then, I have to wait unitl week 39! Crazy.. and I'm only 24 now :) =

Answer: I'm 22, this is my first pregnancy. I found out by an early sonogram, at just 6 1/2 weeks, that I am having twins, naturally, as well. They don't run in my family, so it was a huge surprise!! Good luck with yours! =

Name: Stacey | Date: August 24, 2005, 13:09
Answer: I am 25wks preggo with boy/girl twins. I had to trace my family back to find out if they run in the family. Sometimes you find it where you least expect it. My grandpa's sister says that the gene ran down her side rather then his but here I am. Never expected it. No warning. TWINS! I already have a 5yr old boy at home too. Guess the timing is perfect since he starts kidergarten on the 6th. I won't have to chase all three around. I blame the twin pregnancy on the fact that the hubby was in Iraq for 13months... Came home in Feb. so we both could relax and BOOM! Right away. He was excited as soon as we found out it was twins while I was crying and saying there is no way I could handle two at once. Took awhile but now I am just as excited as everyone else. One more thing to make me and my family SPECIAL! Congrats to all you "Natural Twin Mommies". We were chosen. :<) =

Name: Candice | Date: August 25, 2005, 15:29
Answer: Congratulations to everyone expecting!! I am also expecting natural twins. I am 29 weeks with identical girls. This will be the first set of twins on my side of the family, and my husbands uncle has a set of identical twins, other than that not sure. We were very shocked, I have a 5 year old daughter and a 3 year old daughter so my hands are going to be very full. I am not so worried about caring for the babies, but how I am going to manage my time with the other two children. They are still young and need me. I experienced a miscarriage in October 05 and we wanted to try one more time and VOILA twins. What was supposed to be one boy, turned into 2 girls. I couldn't be happier though. My husband may feel a little out numbered but he will survive. Well good luck, I will keep checking back =

Answer: I'm back with an update- ended my 25th week today!! a lot has happened recently and I've been so nervous.. went in for u/s wednesday, babies are great, strong heartbeats, both are now head down.. except when they did a vaginal u/s, when pressure is applied, I was funneling. I asked and that means baby a's bag was being pushed into my cervix, no leaks or breaks but I guess funneling isn't so good.. so they sent me immediately over to have an internal exam and found although my cervix is still long (2.8cm), its soft. so I started freaking out thinking I'm going into early labor and whatnot.. past 2 days have been so stressful and scary. had to go to the hospital today for a FFN (fetal fibronectin)- measures a specific protein in the mucus on the cervix kinda like a pap smear, and it tells the docs if I'll be delivering within the next 2 weeks. so I had to wait in the room on monitors measuring contractions (surprisingly, I had none) for a little over an hour, and got the good news that the test was negative.. so I'm safe for 2 weeks.. the only downside is I'm stuck on bedrest now which is a pain in the behind, literally. my butt is so numb, my tailbone kills even with pillows under me and laying on my sides. goodness gracious, I'm still a little stressed but I'm trying to think positive and say every day they stay inside is one day less in NICU. so scary... I guess I'll be spending a lot more time online.. any pointers? god bless everyone :) =

Answer: I am pregnant for my fourth time, with twins. We already have a 3 1/2 year old daughter, a 2 1/2 year old daughter (they are 10 months apart and both born in 2002) and a 1 year old son. I was on birth control since my son and found out last month that I am pregnant with twins. It was a little overwhelming at first, but now I am just nervous about the pregnancy because I am so achy and sick. Good luck to all expecting mothers and fathers out there. You are all in our prayers. =

Answer: Goodness, glad to be joining the fray. I'm 13 weeks pregnant with natural twins...they don't run on either side of our families and they are most likely identical anyway, so there is my answer. Wow, can I relate to many of you who felt depression while everyone around you was excited. I felt that way, too. Still do every once in a while when I think about all the stuff and help I'm going to need. But, at the same time, I realize what a blessing these two little lives are and how grateful I am that they are mine. It's nice to see so many with so much shared experience. I feel kinda isolated about this whole "twin" thing. =

Name: Candice | Date: September 11, 2005, 12:23
Answer: Hi Everyone, I posted a little while ago. I am now 31 wks with identical girls, the babies are doing wonderful! I am feeling very tired and having a lot of back pain! MC I understand what you are feeling about being isolated. These will be the first set of twins in both mine and my husband's immediate families. His Uncle has a set of identical girls. I feel so different from my other two pregnancy's and people expect me to be running around and doing all these things and I am lucky if I can go get groeceries without becoming exhausted. These chat groups have really helped me. You can find other woman who are also experiencing what you are going through. I have noone to refer to because noone has had twins and has no idea what I am feeling! It is soooooo different from a single pregnancy, and I don't think people realize that! Well Good Luck and Congratulations to every natural wonder out there!  =

Answer: All natural here as well. I finally went to see my Dr at what I thought was about 16 weeks. US surprised me though, Identical twin girls and already in my 20th week!!!!! I am sooooo happy and excited not to mention shocked. I have two daughters already who share a birthday but they are 3 years apart. Five and Two. My Dr seems a little concerned that Baby A is a little smaller than B. I am trying to gather as much info as possible on twin transfusion but am confused about alot of the terms. Do identical twins always share a plecenta and sac? Anyway, good luck all! I'll be here for any response- Thanks =

Answer: i did after having 3 daughters 15,13 and 3 i just found out i'm having twins =

Name: Candice | Date: September 12, 2005, 22:27
Answer: Hello Everyone. Hi TJ. Congratulations on your babies. I am also having identical girls due Nov.12. I have a 5 year old daughter and a 3 year old daughter. We were surprised at a 12 week US that showed the two of them! My girls share a chorionic sac, the harder outer sack, but have their own seperate amniotic sacks inside. Identical twins do not have to be in the same sacks, it all depends on when the egg split. It may have split before implantation, giving the babies two of everything, or after implantation where they share the outer sack and sometimes the same amniotic sack, depending on when the split occured. Hope that helps you a little bit. We were told at our first US that the babies were monoamniotic which means they share one of everything, but at a later US they found a dividing membrane which put us at ease. Good Luck! Sounds like you are doing great!  =

Answer: I am 10 weeks, 11 by ultrasound pregnant with fraternal twins, happended naturally. I didn't even know twins run in family. I was getting used to being pregnant again with 2 weeks later, at 7 weeks first ultrasound and there are two! Twins are number 4 and 5 kids for us. I have 15, 10 and 3 year old daughters and I will be 39 in January. Me of me, but I am getting used to it, doing better. My morning sickness has not been worse like I keep getting told it will be. Hope worse is not yet to come. But so far so good, especially since I have a history or miscarriage, lost 3. Got pregnant while on antibiotic, husband did use something! So I figure this is the Good Lords plan and he doesn't give us more than we can handle. Babies/children are miracles and gifts. =

Answer: TWINS!! My husband got a vesectomy and since I have 4 kids I was well with that but after the divorce I became lucky to find a man as great as the one I have but we had no plans of having kids since he has 2 of his own. Well on my way into get on birth control Surprize yes I was pregnant. We felt God was in control and we would do our best to prepare. At 12 wks I fell and started to have alot of pain so I went to the hospital and as I was being preped for surgery "just in case" the DR. came back with the results of the sono and her exact words were "I know why you are having so much pain....Your having twins 2 perfectly formed 12wk twins" I was in such shock I told her she had the wrong room and for about 5 mins. I was overwhelmed especially since the twins run in his family and I had only been told of it in a joking manner a few days earlier! We are adjusting well and I am now 18wks now knowing they are identical boys and his 2 from before are girls so we figure god wanted to complete the family before we threw in the towel! =

Answer: I am 21 weeks with twins. We too conceived naturally. We found out at 5 1/2 weeks thru u/s due to sever cramping. We are very excited, but I went through shock and denial. Have done alot of reading since then & found this is completely normal. I should find out on Monday what the sexes are. We are hoping for one of each, but as long as they are healthy, that is all we care about!!! Good luck to all of you out there in the same boat!!! =

Answer: Wondering if anyone else experiences this. Pregnant with twins 12 weeks. Around 10 weeks had a dark brown discharge that cleared up, about a week later when raising off couch had what doc says most likely a ligament popped (I felt a hard pop high on side of belly) and I did same spotting same color. Seems like every other day I can have this, clears up then see a little again, no pain. Each time ultrasound looks good doc says. Just worrisome. =

Answer: Hi am 28y/o am pregnant with identical twins, naturally. I was suprised and cried at the first ultrasound. I was not expecting to get pregnant and to find out I had two put me over the top. I am 12 weeks preg. right now, and I am starting to exept and get a little more excited about the twins. I had also experienced some feelings of "not want two". Those feelings are beginning to leave as well. I have two other girls at home (3 & 2). I'm tired all the time partly because I am in college as well. Anyway, congrats to all of you, and hang in there. =

Answer: I had a u/s this week where the technition asked if I was on fertility. I wasn't, but apparantly my overactive ovary released THREE eggs on their own. The u/s showed only one baby dated at six weeks. My question is this: Is it possible for there to be more than one baby even though the u/s showed only one? Could one of the other eggs have been fertilized later and therefore not show up at this time or could she just missed one? =

Answer: After a miscarriage in January 05, I discovered I'd naturally conceived twins at an 8wk ultrasound a couple of weeks ago (yay!). I was just wondering, when could you ladies feel your uterus above your pubic bone? I'm 10 weeks (just) and can't feel it yet - I thought I would be able to by now. Thanks, take care! =

Answer: I am not sure if I am having twins yet. We have 3 beautiful girls and were actually doing everything we could to have a boy:-) We ended up having a m/c last month and then immediately tried this month again to conceive. We became preganant again..yeah! I thought I was miscarrying again last week and went in to have an U/S. She said I was 4 weeks and said we would do a quantatative HCG blood test and do another U/S in a week or two. The first blood test revealed a very high blood count and said I could very well be having twins. We are just thrilled! We will find out with another U/S next week. There are twins saturated on my side of the family. We have heard many stories of how it is not at all uncommon to have twins right after a m/c. Our dr. said that you are actually very fertle after having one. Anyway, we will see!!! =

Answer: I also conceived twins and it was my first pregnancy. There is no history of twins in my family or my husband's. Unfortunately, I miscarried them at 7 weeks. It's now been 2 months and I am still coping with the loss. Is it possible to have twins again? =

Answer: Just found out yesterday that I am expecting twins. They are in the same placenta from what the technician could see, but there is a membrane between the two. I guess that means that they are going to be identical. Anyway, this was a natural event, and shocked the crap right out of me. I have three other children, all fairly uneventful. I found out that I was pregnant with my fourth the day after I had booked my husband for his vasectemy. SURPRISE! No problem, one more can't hurt. So when I went in for my first ultrasound, I didn't think they would tell me anything I hadn't heard before, but...In the middle if my saying "this is our last" my tech. interupted and said that there might be a bit of a surprise then. I was having twins! I am still in shock, and I don't think that it has completely filtered into me logical thinking just yet. This means five! FIVE! I know a few other ladies who have had fraternal twins, but this was due each time to fertility drugs. =

Answer: To Lisa, I am same boat as you, I am pregnant with fraternal twins, babies are due 4/13/06 but doc says middle of March, so as of twins being born, my oldest will be 15, then second 11 in February, third 4 in May, all girls so hopefully at least one of these is a boy. Needless to say being pregnant a 4th time was well lets say took me a while to get used to then I find out at 7 weeks, twins!. I am 16 weeks now and look 6 months. Good luck to you. =

Answer: I am 20 weeks with twins naturally. they do not run in my or my husbands family. I had a m/c last year that they believe may have been a vanishing twin then blighted ovum. So if that is the case...this would be my second twin pg! ? I am 37 and have been pg 5 times previously...only 3 births though. We can't tell at this point if they are identical or not. We'll have to wait and find out i guess. :-) =

Answer: My twins are natural. Both my husband and I have twins in our families, but they were all further along on our family trees that we weren't expecting twins. I'm currently at 24-weeks. One of each: boy and girl =

Answer: re: mmlpooh@hotmail.com ; I myself was what is called a 'vanishing twin' which is what happened to you. My twin was rejected three months into my mom's pregnancy. She passed a blood clot the size of a 3-month old fetus. You should research the vanishing twin phenom as it is very common, like in 40% of all pregnancies starting as twins. It is only through the amazing technology that we are even aware there were two to begin with. =

Answer: I'm 21 weeks pregnant with twin girls..and way too excited/anxious!! This is my third pregnancy. I was on the pill (Yasmin) and had accepted that we were DONE. I have a 14 y/o son and a 2 y/o son. All of a sudden...what?? Pregnant again? I had just given away EVERYTHING of Jon David's, as far as infant stuff. bed, clothes, toys, bottles, bouncy seat, etc., etc. BUT - we got over the shock and got happy, then at 10 weeks they told me we're having twins...that one took a bit longer to get over. We had just doubled our children in a matter of weeks, it was quite a shock to us. Then it wasn't long before we were thrilled with that idea and THEN we learn they are girls. Thank you Lord! What a true blessing this has become for us already. It's no longer about having to start over and buy everything again, it's about having the opportunity to raise 2 more beautiful children. And the answer to your question...obviously we were not on fertility drugs, as we thought we were done, but the good Lord had a better plan for us... =

Answer: We had planned for one but at an 8-week scan the OB/GYN discovered a stowaway! A scan at 12-weeks showed that they were both doing very well. Now 14w4d along with the first set of twins seen in my family in 3 generations, and it was done au naturale. =

Answer: Well, How about spontaneous (natural) triplets by an identical twin. They say I am "one of the lucky ones" that over ovulated causing the 2 eggs and having the identical twin gene (being one myself) the eggs split. We actually lost one early early on in the pregnancy. Imagine our surprise...we thought we were only having one!!! All girls, 2 indentical, 1 fraternal. What fun, for the most part it has been. They are now 14 1/2 years old and boy do I miss the time when they were babies...I have come to the conclusion I do not like 14 year old girls...lol. Good luck with your babies and always remember, just because they are born the same time, they are still different (and oh so different) individuals. =

Answer: I am 11 weeks pregnant with faternal twins. I was planning an October wedding, and was surprised with this!! No one in our family has ever had twins and we were not on any fertility. So, we moved our wedding up to the end of March... (2 1/2 weeks)....so it has been a VERY busy few months, not to mention how sick I have been while planning. But, I am VERY excited and just hope everything goes well. Good luck with you!! When are you due? =

Name: samehere | Date: March 14, 2007, 16:28
Answer: Since you are 11 weeks andit would be too early to tell the sex unless you had an amnio, I am guessing that you believe your twins are fraternal because they are in seperate sacs? Did you know that only 1/3 of identical twins share a sac. The earlier an egg splits, the less they share. The later an egg splits, the more the twins share so in worst cases you get conjoined twins. So, unless you know the sex of your twins, you could very well be having identical twins and not fraternal. =
