Don't worry. Your baby is fine. I used nose spray at times with both my pregnancies. However, now that you know it isn't recommended, just stick to the saline spray. It will help, it just takes awhile. What will help you more is 800mg of regular Tylenol during the day, and 1000mg of Tylenol PM to help you sleep. Our son is 7 weeks old and when I was about 22 weeks pregnant I got diagnosed influenza. It was horrible. I had a fever of 103 at times and all I could take was Tylenol. I lived on it every 6 hours all day long for a week. My OB told me that there have been so many studdies on the effects of Tylenol and pregnant women, with no negative side effects that he was 100% comfortable with me taking it as long as I needed to. If I were you I would get in a hot shower, blow your nose in the shower as much as you can, and then spray your nose really well before you get out. Then take the Tylenol. Since the saline spray isn't medicated, you can use it several times a day. The more you use it throughout the day, the better it will work. The key is to keep it as part of your regular routine even after you are feeling better. I still use mine in the morning and at night. I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. I have two children and pregnancy on it's own wasn't a picinc for me. Being stuffy and having a splitting headache makes it even more miserable, especially in the first trimester when you are mostlikely suffering from some degree of morning sickness. Feel better!

My doctor told me to use Afrin nasal spray due to terrible allergies that also aggrivated my migraines. I know how you feel, it is miserable. Like mjv said, the Tylenol products are supposed to be safe during pregnancy, there is a Tylenol cold that can help your stuffiness as well as headaches. Personally, the Tylenol really doesn't do too much for my migraines but if you can clear your sinuses that can relieve some of the pressure. Relax, you have not harmed your baby and you should also be able to call your doctor anytime with questions like this rather than waiting until your appointment. Congrats and good luck, hope you feel better soon!

Hello firsttimemomma, congrats on the pregnancy, im truely addicted to Afrin nasal spray i've been that way for over 5 years now and when i got pregnanct my allergies became worse and my nose is constantly blocked so i use it all the time and i've asked my doc and he said its ok that it doesnt affect the pregnancy or the baby in any way it is of course extremly bad but for a lot of other reasons away from the pregnancy, so don't worry too much im sure your baby is fine and don't stress your self. best wishes and good luck.

If you can find one, get a Neti Pot (they come with instructions). It takes some getting used to, but it works really well - just make sure you get some non-iodized salt to use in it. It basically flushes out your sinuses and works really well.
