My dd is about 6.5 weeks now, and for a while now she's been freaking out every time she eats. I am breastfeeding, I try to keep as well of a diet as I can but no matter what I eat she always gets fussy when she eats. I burp her all the time and it doesn't seem to help. I can't figure out why eating bothers her so much! Nothing seems to work! Help! :( ↓

I have no definite answer for you but like you am dealing with the same thing. Jaxon is also 6.5 weeks old and pulls off the breast and arches his back fussing the entire time. Sometimes its better while other times its worse. He will puIl back but immediately start rooting for the nipple again...and so the cycle continues. IMO I think its reflux. Does your dd spit up quite a bit? projectile vomit? does her spit up smell acidic? all of these get a check with my ds. I am going to mention it to my doc at our checkup next week. ↑

She does spit up a lot but I'm not sure how much infants normally spit up. I'll talk to her doctor about it, she has a check up in about three weeks. If it is reflux what can they do about it? ↑

My dd had reflux BAD and we put her on medication, can't remember what they give them. I had to have her sleep in her car seat a lot or very upright. It's possible she's got a milk allergy so maybe if you cut out dairy for a few days and see what happens? Sometimes eating too much can make it worse too. If they eat often, they don't eat for as long and then get all the foremilk which can make them gassier too. Her esophagus is probably just not fully closed yet which makes the acid come up. It's normal in babies - most of them are that way, it just bothers some more than others. I would check with your doctor though if it's bad - they can help or at least diagnose it if it's reflux. A lot of times they will just assume it's relux and not actually test. I'd have them test if you can. I didn't want to give Rachel medication that wasn't tested on kids but I didn't have a choice - I didn't know at the time that they had tests for it. I'm sure it was her deal though - she didn't just spit up, she vomited across the room all day long. :) Her problem didn't go away till after 5 months when I started her on rice cereal - I was desperate for it to end. :) ↑

Thanks fefer. I don't eat much dairy, I kept a catalog of what I was eating and when she became fussy and I couldn't find a pattern to it... ↑
