Vaginal birth after c-section
Name: sumgirl01
Question: I had my son 6 months ago, the plan was to be induced because I had high blood pressure but after about 10 hours of labor I had only made it to 6 centimeters and just stopped dialating all together so my doctor opted for a c-section, recovery was HELL. I was just wondering how many of you had a normal vaginal delivery after having had a c-section, because I would really like to try for my next one but I dont want another c-section... any opinions? ?

Answer: I had an emergency c-section about a year and a half ago...i was opting for totally natural birth but the baby did not have any space and wasnt breathing so they had to rush me to OR....i spoke to my OBGYN about having natural birth for upcoming pregnancy/ies and was advised that hospitals rarely let you have natural delivery unless with a specialized doctor for it.....not every OBGYN let their patients have natural birth after a c-section..... =

Answer: Hi sumgirl01 there is a lot of support for VBAC and if that is what you really want make your desires known to your doctor & be persistent if he/she shows a bit of reluctance. The reason alot of doctors to re-peats is generally for no other reason than their own convenience. Depending on what country you are in (I'm in Australia) you do generally have a choice as long as there are no medical reasons to do a re-peat c-section (eg. placental problems, fetal distress). If you want to find out more just google VBAC or vaginal birth after cesarean and you will find alot of information about it. Good luck & I hope you get the vaginal birth you want.  =
