pfcwife, where are you guys stationed? We're in New Orleans... UGGGG...
This is my first too and I worry about anything and everything. My advice is, do a little studying so that you know what is normal and what's possibly not, so that you don't worry quite as much, don't pay attention to stupid superstitions, and sleep as much as possible. I read somewhere that a mommy-to-be, should try to begin bonding with the baby from the beginning by spending a couple of 10-15 minute breaks doing nothing but thinking about the life growing inside of you and what it's going to be like to hold your baby for the first time and all... It's really helped me. I've been so nauseous, stressed about how we're going to afford this, fatigued at work, and emotional about EVERYTHING that I haven't really had time or energy to be too excited about it, but a couple of times a day I just sit back and try to focus on the baby and I remember how blessed and lucky I am. Oh, and buying my first baby item was a super emotional experience for me. It made it feel even more real than the ultra sound for me. Good luck!

FlyBear, you poor thing. New Orleans is a fantastic place to visit, but I would never want to live there. The humidity is atrocious. I grew up in Bossier City, LA (right by Shreveport), so I understand your pain. I can only imagine how much worse I would have felt when I was still in the nauseated stage if I was putting up with NO weather. Ugghh!

Well, although New Orleans is a fun place to visit for a weekend, I HATE living here. Locals love it and think it's the best place on earth but I have a completely different opinion and can't wait till my love either gets out of the military or gets stationed somewhere else so that we can leave. The heat doesn't bother me much cause I'm from the south, but the lack of cold, even during the winter months and especially at Christmas, drive me insane.

pcfwife, congradulations on your 1st pregnancy. I remember being pregnant with my daughter and how scared I was and how emotional I was too. How are you feeling so far? Don't worry, I am pregnant with my 2nd child (15 weeks) am still worried with this little bundle. I think everyone goes through being scared.
FlyBear, now much longer does your love have in the military? RIght now, I would give to be somewhere warm because living in Wisconsin can be horrible at times, expecially in the winter months. The weather here can never be normal or steady.

Tomygirl, he has until November 2009. He was thinking about reinlisting and trying to get out of here but from what we've heard they have just been reassigning people here because they need people here, so most likely he'll get out so we can move. We've really very unhappy here.

Sorry to hear that you are really unhappy there. Where are you normally from? Have you been in New Orleans really long?

Tomygirl, I'm born in Texas and raised in Arkansas, so although I'm used to the south, I'm used to the more Dixie, quaint, small town charm south, although both states I lived in I lived in large places, and NO is definitely not charming. Plus I'm used to having cold winters with hot, humid summers, not having it hot and humid all year long.

That has to be the worst, especially when you are pregnant. You probably cannot get away from the hot, humid weather! I should be lucky that here I can get away from the hot/humid weather. I am not real big now during the summer months and by time I am 6-7 months, it will be Sept/Oct and the weather cools off here. I really feel for you! How far along are you?

Pfcwife welcome out of the teen forums, lol! Its ugly over there. I was in the military, now I'm out and married to a military man, not to mention all the men in family were also military I just can't seem to get away from it. Nowadays I'm going to college in the evenings and taking care of my daughter and two other babies thru the day. But I was just browsing the forums, I occationally do when boredom sets in, tho I don't usually respond to much. I'll be 27 weeks on wednesday with #2, Its a boy : ), my dd is 13 months. We've been in San Diego for over 2 years and about to move for the 3rd time while living here, we've lived in North Carolina and Pensacola. I have yet to meet any friends, seriously. I've spoken to people like as we walk by going to the park or something but haven't ever hung out or don't even know their names. As for the money, its very tight. You can get a free crib and carseat most bases thru that darn program I forgot the name of, you have to be 8 months along before they'll give it to you tho. As for what to expect, its so different for each person and each pregnancy. A lot of women experience the ligament pains, they feel like starp stabbing pains in your uterus as its stretching, you can get them as you move, bend, twist, sneeze, stand up, etc. You might bloat right out at 10ish weeks or not show til 25 weeks. Theres a lot of change. Hope I helped some, I'm always around if you want to talk. Good luck ladies!!

Marines or Army? PFC? That's an E2 or such? Sorry, the ranks are called different things in different branches. Mine's in the Navy. He's an E5 and he'll be able to test for promotion pretty soon so we're doing alright, however we're both pilots, although for me it's just a hobby. For him it's a career choice after the military so we're working on getting him all of his ratings up to instructor and it's sucking our finances dry so I definitely feel your pain. Our hope is to get the flying loans paid off and get him his CFI so he can start building hours and making a little extra income before the baby gets here so we can afford for me to take some time off. I'm nervous about everything too, heck, I'm an emotional wreck most of the time. But you'll be okay, just take it a day at a time and remember to be thankful everytime you go to the Dr and they tell you everything looks normal!
