But for others... period like symptoms mean nothing...I felt the same thing after IUI..Also, I am a very impatient person and took a pg test earlier than two weeks thinking it may work..I rcvd a negative result and was very depressed...even though I was sure I was't pregnant I took the test again after the two weeks and I was indeed pregnant..now going on 20 wks. Answer: it was probably too early.. I did a hpt 14 days following my first IUI and it was negative..went to the MD the same day and it was positive..you have to have atleast a 40iu HCG to test + on HPT!!! Good luck!

Answer: Hi all! I had my 3rd IUI on March 25, now I'm 24 dpo and still no a/f. I've taken several hpt, but was negative. On 14 dpo, I had some extremely light spotting, hoping it was implantation bleeding. The last hpt I took was on April 16, guess I'll give it a try again tomorrow. Answer: My fetrility specialist advised me after my first IUI a week ago that I may feel a dull cramp and the reason is that, because they place the washed sperm in a place that it all wouldn't normally be, your uterus trys to reject it, hence the cramping. I have had the cramping about 4 days after and then spotted a while later and more cramps. I am just putting it down to the IUI procedure. I was told to take Asprin to get rid of it. x x

Answer: To answer Tally- I think the most accurate results for the HPT is waiting the 2 weeks- if you take it before (in my case) you will get a false positive due to the HSG (shot) hormone is still in your system. Answer: All the symptoms are similar to pre-period symptoms i had my first IUI on April 27 and tomorrow i will go for my test result all my pregnancy test have shown negative but my very first one showed positive I think it was because of the HCG shot I received you are supposed to wait 12days before you can take an accurate pregnancy test . Answer: An IUI is intrauterine insemination, It is when they RE places washed sperm directly in the uterus so you have a better chance of getting preg. It can cost anywhere from 200-600 dallors depending if your insur will cover any of it. I had my first IUI done on 5/4/05 and I am on my 2ww and going crazy. My bb are sore and I have some cramping and my RE said they are not even going to test me until day 35. Does this sound like a normal wait?

My RE says this is normal but I keep reading on site that this is close to low. Also anyone suffer from OHSS? If so did you get preg and how long did the symptoms last? My husband has a VERY low sperm count and a infection (not STD) for which he is going to the Dr for on Monday. Is this something that can be easly fixed? ie infection and low sperm? Answer: I had an IUI for the first time on Friday 5/6. I am having some very sharp pains and cramps on the left side near where (I think) my ovaries are. Is this normal? Answer: well today i go to the doctor for my blood test results im really nervous. I have been taking pregnancy test at home and they have all showed negative. I only had one follicule due to PCOS. Answer: Sperm washing is done when you are going to get an IUI done. They wash the sperm so that the stronger "swimmers" will be in your uterus and have a better chance fertilizing the egg. As far as the infection goes usually they will perscribe an antibiotic. RE means reproductive Doctor. I also have PCOS and was having trouble ovulating. I had my IUI done on 5/4/05. I was on injec. this cycle and ended up with OHSS (ovarian Hyperstimulation) which can cause alot of pain. As far as neg. testing at home goes I asked my RE when the soonest time I can test at home and they said they don't recommend it because you can get false positives or neg and they don't test until your 35 day of your cycle. I too tested today and it showed neg, but I have some signs of preg like cramping, sore bbs, tiredness but those signs can also mean that your AF is coming for a visit so I really don't know. I guess we are all in the same boat. Well baby dust to all .

Although i already had a girl almost 3 yrs old (1st time iui successful), you just don't know they are the symptoms of pregnancy or not. Answer: well i went for my test results yesterday and i am not pregnant it was my first IUI i was hurt but i kind of expected it i only had one follicle so i knew my chances were slim but im trying again with different medication i go tomorrow for a baseline ultrasound and ill be starting all over again. It was really hard waiting and then going to the doctor just to hear him say it didnt work . I am more optimistic about this second time because i know what to expect and i know what the procedure is well see. Good luck to everyone and remember it may not happen the first or second time but with enough faith it will happen it just takes time.

Answer: Vani I am really sorry to hear that, but keep your sprints up. I had my IUI done on 5/4/05 and I thought I had symptoms but they went away (it was probably from the OHSS) This 2ww is terrible I feel exactly how Loren feels, not sure how to feel! I guess when it is your time then it will happen. How did you guys know how many eggs fell. I had 4 follicles ready when I toke the HCG shot but I had an ultrasound done and only showed one cyst on my left tube ( does that mean only one fell?) My right tube is blocked and if this month I didn't get preg. the RE is going to fix the right one if he can. So pray It toke , because when I get preg I am never doing this again! Answer: hi vani, very sorry for your neg. result, I can understand your feeling and I hope you will have a + result very soon. I personally would advice for those who are waiting for the result not to take the HPT until we missed our period, otherwise it will just give unnecessary pressure to ourselves. I remember when I was 7 weeks pregnant to my daughter, my doctor cannot see anything from the ultrasound, he advised me to treat myself not pregnant yet cause he didn't want me to be disappointed if anything happen. Fortunately, my whole pregnancy went very well and my daughter seems very smart (all parents think like that, he.. he..), I believe it is because after the sperm washed, the best and healthiest sperm entered the egg. Anyway, for those waiting for the result, good luck and all the best. (so glad to have this web site to share and express my feeling with you.)

Answer: Lori- I was pretty much convinced that af was coming. Sore bb's near the end- bloated... right after the IUI- like next day & nearly next week & 1/2 felt a dull ache really low in my pelvic area-tmi- but like when I was urinating & if I pushed at all- it felt like the cramp got stronger. I could feel any gas going thru- kind of a cramp & was then gone after it was passed. sorry- I know tmi! But I was convinced it was af on the way - all the same signs, only with af my bb's hurt for maybe a day- with this my bb's began hurting- then 4 days later when af was supposed to arrive- it didn't! It was all I could do- not to test- but I was to test on Sunday morning- tested & did not see an immediate line- so figured it was negative- came back about 10 mins later & saw a faint line! 1st one since my m/c last fall!!! I had no hope it would happen the 1st time- only 1 good follicle, my dh's sperm sample-(per the doctor) was a very small sample- so we were prepared for a negative! All I can say is don't give up, try to stay positive, & say your prayers & they will be answered! Oceans of baby dust your way!!! Keep us posted on what you find!! Good luck!! :O)

Answer: Hi thanks for your reply. Well I started spotting this morning after a bad night of cramps, so AF is on its way. I guess it didn't work so the RE is going to want to do surgery and try to fixed my blocked right tube. I was just hoping and praying this was going to be it. it is 13 dpiui and I thought I had signs of preg but they are very similar to AF signs and that is what is was. Answer: I had an IUI on 5/11. I'm in the 2ww and it is killing me. Only 1 of my breasts are sensitive and I have had cramping in the lower region of my pelvis for the past few days. I had 4 follies...2 at 21 mm and dh's #'s were over 20million after the wash. I'm just feeling very anxious and is there anyone else out there that feels like they are going to go crazy with anxiety? Answer: Well since my first IUI was unsuccessful my doctor has now decided to up my medications.I was just wondering if anyone has ever taken Bravelle and Repronex in the same fertility treatment cycle. I think my doctor ordered me two different medicines that do the same thing. Anyways I go for my second IUI on May 23 I am feeling very positive. Good luck to all !!!!

Answer: I had my first IUI on 5/12 and I experienced severe cramping that evening. It honestly felt like labor pains from when I had my son. I called my doctor and he told me that I needed to take 3 Advils and if it did not go away to go to the ER. The Advil worked, but I still have had mild cramping. I have been tired, but that might just all be in my head. Did anyone have severe cramping?

Answer: Hi, I got my first IUI on 5/7. I was extremely tired that day and the following day, and then felt better after that, but after the follow-up HcG injections, I felt cramp, tired, restless, breast pain, etc. etc... The Doctor's assistant told me that those symptoms are better than nothing, but not to put too much meaning to it. I am getting the blood test next Tuesday, which would be 16th day from the IUI. Fingers crossed for everyone waiting for the results!!! Lots of good baby thoughts going your way.

I am curious to know how many mature follicles you had? I have heard of women just having one and getting pregnanct and others having four and not getting pregnant? I hope this works for you! I just had a friend who conceived her second child through IUI! It was her second IUI cycle. Her first child took 4 cycles of IUI. Keep us posted on your test. My prayers are with all of you!

Answer: I am so glad to find this website. I had my first IUI on May 12th and I am in the 2 ww and it is absolutely killing me. It seems everywhere I look I see pg women and babies!!! Grrr!! We have been trying to 3 years and have run into a lot of obstacles. We did not use any drugs, we wan't to try as natural as possible. The only problem I have had is fibroids that had to be removed. Now, day 7 after IUI, I have had cramping in my pelvis for 4 days now. Like everyone, I am hoping it means something, but scared that it really doesn't!! Good Luck to all!! I will say a baby prayer tonight.

Answer: Ashley and all, Hi,your post made me smile (which is the first smile I had today....) . I am usually very happy, not much mood-swing, but starting yesterday, I have been in this very negative mode. I am suspecting it is the usual PMS as my period is coming near...but hope not. To know that someone like you have the same experience, almost coinciding in time, and looking at you being very positive and all is very very encouraging! Thanks! I had three mature follicles according to the last ultrasound, which was done two days before the IUI. The size weren't very big, they were between 16mm and 17mm. I guess if the Doctor said it is very good, the size must be OK. I wonder if my body size (which is quite small) affect my egg size (I am probably talking silly.) Yes, I am very anxious, but I am too afraid to take the test at home! People say we might get a misleading result as the injection (HcG)might be still in the body system. My doctor said I can come in on Monday to do a blood test if I like, or wait longer to see if my period is not coming at all. (But how long should I wait for non-period?) It is like a human lotterly. When you get it, you get it, but until you do, you just wonder and wonder. Hope your 2nd week is going to be an easy one! Believe in the ability of reproducing a baby (after all, it is a natural thing for an animal to do) with lots of scientific help, and our prayers!!! Lots of baby dust to you!

Answer: Macaron-My friend who just got pregnant from IUI took her test on day 26 of her cycle and tested postive. She took one the day before and it was negative. I guess having a negative test first is a good sign that the drugs are out of your system. I would just do whatever makes you feel at peace. I am going to test on the day of my missed period because I am leaving for a wedding in Florida that same day. I will not be able to take a blood test until the week after. Are you taking progesterone? I am wondering if that makes your cycle longer? Oh and I was so irritable yesterday as well. I was like that a couple of days of the fertility shots. I am 30 and I have a high FSH and endometriosis so I have a couple of things against me, but my RE was really surprised that I responded to drugs. Has your doctor been able to identify why you have had trouble conceiving? I hope you have a better day today! I have a busy day so I am hoping that will keep my mind off of everything.

Answer: OK I'm still a bit tired and my bb's aren't painful but feel a little sore. I want to test so bad but don't want to do that to myself if it isn't what I want. It's been 8 days since my IUI and I haven't had implantation bleeding....but, does that even happen all the time? I feel like I keep asking the same questions but I'm so darn anxious.

Answer: hi Ashley and all IUI girls! Today is my Day 26. I feel the similar heaviness in my abdomen as the one you get right before af....getting really worried. But my bb temp is still high (36.9),so probably not getting it so soon. You are right about progesterone having effect of prolonging your cycle. Yes, I am taking it too. ( The medicine I am using is called Utrogestan. ) The reasons why I am getting fertility treatment is that (1)I am 39 and the Dr thinks we should expedite the process before it gets too late, and (2) my boyfriend's sperm test came back as on "borderline" . On the day of the IUI, though, Dr told us that his sperm condition was so much better than before, and there were three million count (washed), which he said is not "borderline" anymore. (We were very happy to hear that and I just kept on cheering up the sperms, imagining their swimming up to my eggs!) Well, I guess I might take the test at home maybe tomorrow.
