YOu guys need to chill...too many pregnant mammas...I'm 39 weeks pregnant...and my baby seems content to stay where he is...although i have a terrible time trying to sit very long...my pelvis kills!! dont take castor oil...that stuff is disgusting!! and what sex positions are safe? i'm tired of the spoon side by side sex. My sex life is pretty regular...and there's no contractions or anything.

hehe - who cares about spelling - you lot are funny! Im 38 weeks preggie and desperatly trying to bring on labour. I have gestational diabetes which causes big babies and a condition where i am carrying too much water so my belly is huge!! Im being induced at 39 weeks 'cos of the diabetes but would appreciate any tips not previously mentioned as being induced is nasty! was induced with my first sprog and went into labour on my own with 2nd. Anyone got any tips, tried the tea, sex, curry, laughing, dancing, bouncing on a ball, masturbation etc etc - although not tried the blowing balloons up thing yet! umm perhpas that will work - off to blow up balloons!!! :-)

Like you I'm also awaiting a late baby, I have tried all sorts of stuff to no avail, have decided to stop worrying and allow my body to relax. I have started visualisation and talking to the baby and have started to get slight contractions (deep period pains), letting the baby know that it will be pulled and poked about by the NHS seems to be doing the trick! Good luck and I hope you can naturally start labour - remember the baby will come when its good and ready x

Clary sage oil supposed to work.. mix a few drops with almond oil and masage into your tummy, this should bring on your contractions. Good luck xxx

This is so silly, spelling comments? Come on now! lol! Anyways, the girl asked about labour, not schooling. So heres my suggestions. I am 40 weeks today, and I am sooo tired of people telling me 'he'll come when he comes'...thats all fine and good, but I want him out now! 40 weeks is long enough! Why else would doc strip the membrane three weeks in a row, which, by the way, did NOTHING for me, maybe my obgyn doesn't do it right or something! I've heard a bumpy road, and rasp tea, and long walks, all that good stuff, hot baths....so far nothing works. Sex? Yeah, tried that. So, tonight here's my agenda. I'm going to have a few mouthfulls of my husbends beer with supper (thats a new one I heard today, and besides, whats a few mouthfulls?) then, a long drive, a long walk, a cup of rasp leaf tea, then home to a hot bath, and sex. But, I'm going to try a new tip I heard about the sex thing too, they say to tilt your bum upwards after sex, on some pillows or something. The semen is the key, and the longer it sits in there, the more effective. Aw well, if nothing else, it would be a fun relaxing night!! Good luck all! I know I'll be needing it!

A book I have says that nipple stimulation can trigger strong contractions, it also says not to try this without your Dr's. advice because it can cause very strong contractions.

Well im 41 weeks and on monday will be 42 planning on being induced if he doesn't come by thursday!!!! Ive tried everything EXCEPT castor oil, i really don't feel like crapping my face off for 2 days hehehe... Suposidly contractions are way stronger when you take that stuff. I ate a pineapple yesturday and went for a walk (nothing) sex(nothing) lot's of water(nothing) walking (nothing).. he's just gonna come when he's ready , no use in forcing him unless things go to next week .. My advice just be patient, try to do something different everyday, get out of the house for a little bit to take your mind off of things ...Remember not much longer to go he's gonna come out sooner or later right!! GOOD LUCK :)

Crystal: I am 39 weeks pregnant. My doctor told me to go home and drink a glass or 2 of wine. It will not hurt you. He said it's actually good for you n small amounts. Just Don't drink the whole bottle :)

Name: Amie | Date: Jul 11th, 2005 10:11 AM
Courtney: Your doc actually told you that? I've heard about it before, and people have told me it's actually good in small amounts, like half a glass every two weeks. I've been so tempted to try it, but I feel guilty every time I go to open a bottle. Let me know if it works, I'm now 5 days overdue. If it works, if you get anything at all, let me know what kind of wine too, anything thats red? Or does it have to be merlot? I'm not crazy on merlot, I wonder if a red fruit wine would work? I've have crampy pains for three days now, and nothing nothing nothing. I;m going crazy!!

I'm due tomorrow with no signs of the baby coming. My first child was the same way and I had to be induced when I was a week overdue. I even went out and rode an elephant on my due date with no luck at getting that kid out. (I told them I would find a circus but no one believed me) Spicey foods do not work on me. Neither did wine(according to my OBG a glass every other day of red in the third trimester is not going to harm the baby and will help your own mood along significantly) or bowling three-four games a night three nights a week. I also tried overworking(60 hours a week) along with long walks. To each their own on getting the kids out. If mine isn't here in the next day or two my doc is scheduling me to be induced.

My mother had the same problem delivering me so ask your moms how much trouble you were for them. They might have some ideas. My moms vote is for them to schedule me for a c-section. Thats what they did with her.

After reading all of these postings...I want to add my 2 cents...
When I was young, our family invited unwed mothers (a very old-fashioned term now!) to live with us. Over many years, I probably saw 15 or more pregnant ladies be given the "magic potion" by my mother on their due date and ALL - I repeat ALL of them went into labor the same night.
The potion? 2 tsps. Castor oil, OJ and baking soda so it'll fiz and make it easier to get down.
When I was in labor many years ago, I tried it and....................... yep, it worked like a charm.

This has been fun to read! I am currently 5 days late, which is not considered 'overdue' til after 42 weeks. I have had everything tossed at me with this pregnancy and am really ready for her. However, the comfort and safety of the baby (and mum of course) should be top priority should it not? Babies come when they are ready and if you are a healthy person, there should be NO breakdown of the placenta or cord etc., and the odd glass of wine or beer (Guiness was recommended to me for all 3 pregnancies!! - high in iron, helps milk production to name a few benefits) will NOT harm you or the baby. It is mainly in the first and perhaps second trimester to avoid, because your baby is still DEVELOPING. Once bub is fully developed and merely growing, it won't harm him/her. My advice would be: do whatever YOU are comfortable doing and do LOTS of whatever takes your mind off bub being late. p.s. To Alma..I don't think you're being selfish as such, but at least let bub do his/her 40 weeks....we all knew that was the deal when we fell pregnant, no? Relax and visualise a healthy baby above EVERYTHING else.

my obgyn told me that they won't let me go any more than 10 days past 40 weeks because it increases the risk of still born babies. He said I defeinetly won't let me go to 2 weeks overdue, and they are inducing me on Friday.

hi girls, first can I say there are a few of you that seem to be talking about taking CASTROL OIL as apposed to taking CASTOR OIL!! HUGE DIFFERENCE, THE FIRST ONE IS WHAT YOU PUT INTO YOUR CARS ENGINE, THE LATTER BEING THE OIL EVERYONE ELSE IS TALKING ABOUT!! Castor oil will move everyting out from inside including emptying your bowels, bladder and stomachs! Be prepared to feel very ill afterwards!! Now,im 2 days over today, trying to avoid being induced in 10 days..... have done raspberry tea, curry, sex, walks, pineapple, etc... anyone else any decent tips??

boil kettle, leave till warm then mix half a cup of that water with 4 heaped tablespoons of BROWN sugar... gulp it down. I was stupid enough to try this at 36 1/2 weeks and had my baby early.
