I'm only 37 weeks pregnant so I normal wouldnt be in a rush expecially since it's my first child however my husband is in the military and is leaving in 10 days for 7 months and I just really wanted to have the baby before he leaves so he can meet our little bundle of joy. I live in a small town and checked everywhere for raspberry tea leaves and the closes I could get to it was packaged herbal tea with it as it's 6th ingredient! I'm really unwilling to try castor oil mainly because it's been weeks since I've had a bowel movement that even remotley could be considered "solid" waste that I cant see me dealing with the effects. Sex is out of the question cause I'm so swollen down there I cant get nothing in so I'm not even sure how somthing is supposed to come out! Hot baths I love so I will try that and walking I'll try but I was wondering if any of you had any more information on the wine idea. Beer is not a good option either cause the smell/taste of it makes me sick (even before pregnancy) so for now I'll keep drinking my packaged tea and I'll try the brown sugar thing. Let me know if you can think of anything else..

had never heard of the brown sugar thing. am going to try it as soon as i have written this, baby is due day after tomorrow. i know with my first baby 8 years ago that a little brown sugar in water can help ease constipation for them. guess it must work in the same sort of way. walked for 2 hours last night and have nothing but slightly sore feet!

You haven't had your baby yet because it isn't time. A due date is approximate, not exact. Unless you go --over--42 weeks your fine. Nobody is pregnant forever.

Also, I have rather large babies (9-10lbs) and I always go well after 40 weeks. Never been a problem.

Yes Jess thanks for your help but believe it or not we knew we wouldnt be pregnant forever and I'm glad your child bearing went great for you but everyone is different and just because you didnt mind the wait some of us are so if your not offering help or suggestions we havent heard I dont see the point in you adding your two cents it's not helpful and we dont wanna hear it

For an update... yesterday I had about 3 glasses of my packaged raspberry tea, the brown sugar idea, a hot bath, went for a walk and had 1 cup of red wine which was a struggle since I really dislike wine, last night I started having contractions they were 4 minutes apart and very very strong they lasted for about 3 hours and then they were gone! I'm not sure if that was just regular braxton hicks or if somthing jump started it and then died off so I'm trying again today so far 3 glasses of tea, the brown sugar, and the hot bath I'm about to finish another cup of tea then go for a walk and try another glass of wine (ICK).... lets see if anything will go better tonight

i have had a cup of the warm brown sugar, a hot bath, a glass of wine, been walking half the day, and im taking the raspberry leaf tablets, nothing yet. only thing left to try is sex so i mite as well give that a go to...

Yeah same here but sadly enought he thought of sex makes me more sick then the thought of drinking the wine lol so I think I'd even go for the castor oil first lol

Well, I finally had my babe, after being 9 days late. I had tried everything in the forum pretty much! But that day I had a ultrasound to be put on the induction list, then I ate McDonalds for lunch, and went home and repacked my diaper bag and my suitcase. My water broke in the process. I was very relaxed and very ready, so maybe that helped. Go in your nursery and organize the babes clothes again or something...who knows...it worked for me! lol...then again, I was 9 days late, that may have been a contributing factor! lol Good luck!

Again yesterday I did everything from the day before just this time I had nothing at all mind you the wine did put me to sleep and I slept for 3 and a half hours before waking to go to the washroom which was very exciting for me! Now running the risk of sounding like a complete idiot could someone please tell me what cohosh is (again I'm from a small town) but I have never heard of this, what is it and where do you get it....?

hi ladies, did the brown sugar thing yesterday. waters broke at 5.45 this morning, went to hospital at 10, contractions started when they put me on the monitor and stopped as soon as they unplugged it, currently sat at home at 6.30 pm having very small contractions but not enough to get things really going. due tomorrow so think it may well come then. fingers crossed!! not sure if it was just time or if it was the brown sugar drink, my hubby reckons its no different to eating a mars bar, think he may be right, only mars bars taste nicer!! good luck ladies x

They have not proven how much alcohol is safe for the baby yet.My doctor told me if i want to relax to drink 1 beer or wine cooler. Ive had 2 beers through my pregnancy and the baby is fine. Its only a problem if you drink one everyday. So dont feel guilty about drinking 1 beer or a glass of wine it won't hurt the baby.

My baby is due in 2 days and I have tried everything. Nothing has worked. This is my 3rd and have never had a overdue baby so this is really killing me. I have tried it all from pinapple to castor oil (YUK!!). I have even tried one of those back massage things to vibrate her out and all she did was fall asleep. So I know how you feel. i have been trying it all.

Good one Jane! I would have to agree with the spelling comment.

I am actually nervous because my mother was over two weeks overdue with all three of us and they finally had to induce her - she just could never maintain labor on her own. I guess none of us wanted to come out! My older sister was the same way with hers - two weeks overdue and they induced. I am 36 weeks and am just ready to carry to 42 weeks. Sometimes I guess the baby just wants to stay in! My mom jokes that we would probably all still be in there if they hadn't forced us out! LOL!

I have tried everything I could get my hands on: Pineapple, Evenning Primrose Oil...took a whole bottle over the course of three weeks, Black cohosh, sex, three doses of Castor oil, walking, wine, hot bath, the list goes on and on. The only thing I will not try is Blue cohosh, as it HAS been linked to fetal distress and abnormalities. Haven't EVER heard of the brown sugar thing...am going to go heat up the kettle and give it a go....Good luck to all!

I want to try the brown sugar thing but I am scared that would be too much sugar for the baby. Let me know please. Altaynia@yahoo.com

Tried the brown sugar thing. It really didn't taste too bad! So, drank it around 6:30pm and it's noe midnight with no change. I didn't really notice any change in fetal movement. I figure that much sugar can't be any worse the the Large Blizzard I had at Dairy Queen last week! I'll update if it works

i tried the brown sugar, pinapple, hot shower, and sex nothing except a head ache all night. and unsure if it was my mucus plug or globbed sperm that appeared today.

Hi again everyone, glad to see the brown sugar is working for some but i forgot to mention that it can take up to 48 hours to work... sorry. anyway, it worked for my last baby so i tried it again with this pregnancy but wretched and only managed 3 sips of it ........ same night i found a cleart mucus and 2 days later my waters started leaking..... im still leaking and having really mild contractions. im 37 weeks pregnant so maybe it works better for those that are closer to their due date. The tip was given to me by a neighbour who is a midwife by the way so i know its safe .. good luck to you all and congratulations to those who have had their babies already.. lucky lot!! lol

Brown sugar and water? Worth a try before indulging in Castor Oil, I guess. Funny, I have never ever heard of it before. Just wondering if this idea is from another country? Where did it come from - very curious since I have never heard of it before. I can hardly believe the results that you lucky gals have been getting from it. Does anyone know how it actually works??
