just been on the net and one dr. suggested " Wear your best knickers (sod's law will ensure that your waters break in them). " lol !!

also homeopathic remedies such as pulsatilla available from chemists, with no side effects or problems related. dont have sex if waters broken or leaking but otherwise do and make sure the sperm sits inside your cervix by putting a pillow under your bum afterwards and you relax afterwards. if dosnt work will keep you busy and mind off it for a few minutes (if your lucky!!!) kate

I have visited several forums / chat sites about pregancy, but this is the only one I have ever seen where people appear to feel free to make insulting comments about others' spelling, thoughts or ideas. It makes quite nasty reading at times - surely we are all entitled to our own opinion, and would it not be nicest to reply politely if you think someone may have put forward a dangerous or careless idea?

"to help" and others who posted. Cator oil CAN cause the baby to have a bowel movement in-utero, however that doesn't kill them. Yes it can cause breathing problems, but wont kill them. Usually the ones who have a bowel movement were going to have complications anyway.

Wow I can't believe this thread is still going since March 22, last year. Anyway, I am due in four days and have a 13mo old, so needless to say the lack of mobility and energy is killing me. I've tried a few things, but nothing intense. Drinking raspberry leaf tea for about a month, has helped bring on contractions but nothing that stays. I tried pinapple till I found out that you have to eat like seven of them, at once, wow. Nipple stimulation also works really good for bringing on strong contractions but nothing that has lasted longer then two or three hours. I used castor oil with my first child and it appeared to have worked (I had her the next day, but Im not sure that I wasn't already in labor). Im not quite that desperate yet. I know this doesn't really help but if come across anything I'll post up. It sadly also might be possible that nothing works... but we don't need to think that do we :)

about the nipple stimulation,, exactly what is stimulation, do you just rub them over and over again or what? I am at my wits end and will maybe try it if I knew exactly how. I don't have to pinch them or anything do i?

Name: Mommy_Erin23 | Date: Jun 8th, 2006 1:21 PM
you just rub them and yes a little pinch would help. If your doing it right you should feel a tightening in your tummy almost right away. They feel more like Braxton Hicks at first but don't go over board, becuase nipple stimulation can cause contractions that are to long and if you keep at it too much you can distress the little one. Good Luck

Tried Castor Oil last night. Man that stuff is ruthless. I can't say if it worked or not. It just did a wonder on my bowls last night bringing no contractions but started to contract around 11am this morning and they are fairly regular.. for now :P Wish me luck.

Well Im due tomorrow and still no baby yet, so nothing has worked for me. On top of that I just got back from the Doc and he thinks I may actually be 42 weeks instead of 40, so Im heading in for an ultrasound. Im terrified of being induced. Im not the kind of person who will take the drugs and I hear it's really rough. I hope any of you ladies have better luck than I did. Cudos

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to say that I am 37 wks tomorrow and am ready to have this baby. I am not willing to try anything though. I will try the brown sugar thing. This is my third baby and this has been the worst pregnany for me so far. I am in constant pain and have had bouts of high blood pressure since conception and migraines. But I just wanted to tell everyone to not be so judgemental on people's speeling or rather misspellings. I know I am no the best at spelling but I was completely amazed at how some were treating others on this forum. I thought this was about being supportive and for advice? I would give any information willing to others that would like any unfortunately I was induced with me first two sons. I do have to say though that its isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I guess it dpends on how your body responds to the induction. My obviously took to it well. First one the hormone gel they put on my cervix to spften it started labor. 15 hours later I had an 8 lbs boy. The second one they used pitocin and after they started the drip 9 hours late I had an 8 lbs 5 ounce boy. I want to wish everyone a congratulations and hope everyone is doing well.

To the ones trying the brown sugar infusion I went back and looked at the original posted recipe : Answer: boil kettle, leave till warm then mix half a cup of that water with 4 heaped tablespoons of BROWN sugar... gulp it down. I was stupid enough to try this at 36 1/2 weeks and had my baby early. =

This could be why it isn't working with you, it's 4 heaping tablespoons, not teaspoons. Not critisizing at all, just saying you may not be using enough to get it going.

My daughter will be 41 weeks Thursday and we too have tried almost everything. Tried Evening Primrose oil, Castor oil 3 times, twice with Orange juice, and once with a CocaCola.
She has has start and stop labor for about a week now, is 80% effaced and dialated to 3 CM, but the labor keep stopping. I think I found out why.
She had some very deep fears about an epidural (didn't like the idea of anything in her spine) and has always had a fear of dieing during childbirth. Ridiculous as it sounds, these fears were very real to her. I looked up some information on the net and printed it out for her.
http://www.birthingnatural-ly.net/pain/ftpcycle.html

Thi-s- was causing her labor to STOP each time we went to the hospital.
Today after I talked with her and she says her mind is more at ease and she is more relaxed, she told me she started to have mild pains again. SHe took and Evening primrose oil caplet, then I gave her two cups of the raspberry leaf tea infusion, and after reading the brown sugar recipe, I fixed her a cup of that. Gave it too her about 6PM Central time and she says her pains are starting to get stronger now, so we shall see.

I wish every one of you well and healthy, happy babies. Good luck to all of you!

Just wanted to share my journey of the day.
I tried sex last night, twice around 1am. I started having contractions right away, but were mild and about every 5 mins. Then at 5 am I took 3 tablespoons of cartor oil with a pepsi, I almost gagged, but got through it. I felt nauseous for a while. I then took a nice long hot shower. I kept getting mild contractions. Around 10am I started getting the runs from the castor oil. Since then, the contractions have almost dissapeared. But my friend told me she started getting her hardest contractions after the effect of the castor/caster oil was over. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my contractions will speed up again. And for those who say, " THE BABY COMES WHEN IT COMES". Everyone has a choice if you choose to wait it out, then do it, don't judge someone else for making their own choices. I have reasons why I need to induce. Yes I said NEED. Whether anyone else here needs to or wants to, we are hear for advice not JUDGEMENT! Good luck to all of you who are having babies and Congratulations to those of you who already had your babies. XOXO's

Well, sorry for my late reply but My daughter ended up going to the hospital at 9am (cst Houston/Galveston area) Saturday morning to be induced. The remedies we were trying were working but her body kept shutting down the labor for some reason.
Even with inducement on Pitocin, the laor was stopping! She wouldn't progress like she should have. After being in excrutiating pain for hours (the spinal wore off and the epedural wasn't doing much good either) the baby's heart rate went to between 180 and 200 and she developed a fever and high blood pressures... she went toxic.
They prepped her and ran her into emergency surgery and at 1:45am Sunday morning had a beautiful 7 lb 5 oz baby boy! I got to go in the OR with her and see my grandchild be born, and then I got to hold him for the first time and show mama, then I got to take him to the observation nursury. I stayed in the hospital with her and brought them both home Wed. afternoon.
At least I know WHY the remedies didn't work. The only thing I didn't try was blue and black cohash but I told the midwife I was afraid to try those since they are so potent, and if not done correctly can harm the mother or baby.

Anyway, just wanted ya'll to know she did have her baby and why the remedies didn't work.
God bless every one of you and your new children!!

Where do you live? We bought the Caster Oil in the laxetive section on Walgreens, but any local pharmacy has it. Look where the laxetives are, Walgreens had it on the bottom shelf by the floor, so it was kind of hard to see.
