I'm 40 weeks and I'm 1cm dialated the baby is well and truely locked in position and I have had contractions everyday for a week If I get induced will they need to use the gel if I'm already dialated or will they just break my waters. I've tryed raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, walking, sex, nipple stimulation, I've had the stripping of the membranes has anyone got any unusual suggestions on how to start labour.

I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow. I cleaned like crazy today including cleaning the kitchen floor on my hands and knees. Not sure if it did anything but I feel kind of sick now. Not sure if that means anything. My sister in law swears that sex worked for her twice but I haven't tried that yet.

I've heard that Caster Oil can be effective.

Where did you hear that caster oil can kill your baby? I have heard of many people using it without a problem. I doubt that they would use it if it posed any real risk.

castor oil can cause the baby to do a bowel movement in you and it can get inside them and kill them any dr will tell you that

Actually castor oil hasn't been proven to cause the baby to have a bowel movement, Most women who use castor oil are overdue and when your overdue you baby has a higher chance of pooping do some more research guys

i have done my research and yes it can make the baby do a bowel movement in you why dont you look it up everyone i know knows this THE BABY WILL COME WHEN ITS READY

i even mowed the lawn today, gardened, kicked a footy down the park for an hour, ate a hot curry, and drank rasberry tea all day but nothing's working! jane, why did you bother to write anything if you have to be so rude - maybe you should take a chill pill - i feel sorry for your poor baby to be

I too have tried every thing that has been suggested. I'm 40 weeks and 3 days, I'm having a little boy and he keeps pushing his bum and legs so far into my ribs I can't touch my stomach it hurts that much! Can anyone suggest anything to help me keep him lower down, if he's not going to come out?

I am 40 weeks & 3 days too & am getting very fed up waiting to see when its going to arrive. I went to see my midwife on Wed & she said I was 1cm dilated. Ive ad the membrane sweep & tried the sex but nothing is working. Does anyone know anything else that can help?

I'll be 40 weeks tomorrow...I am 3cm dilated and 20% effaced...Sex actually brought on some serious contractions the other night! They were 7 minutes apart and lasted for 3 hours. I have another appointment on Monday...I believe that I am more effaced now...just judging by those contractions I had the other night...so the semen really does do something..

some things that help labor progress or start. red raspberry leaf tea helps soften the cervix and helps for labor and recovery. black and blue cohosh (tinctures are best) they help start contractions. evening primrose oil helps ripen cervix. cumin tea, castor oil, nipple stimulation. those are just a few that i have heard to be most effective. none may work though if you just aren't ready. your body really has to be ready in order for anything to help. but if you are dilating or thinning they should help speed things up.

I was told that if you eat a pineapple then take a long walk it can help bring on labour. A friend of mine tried it and 20 minutes later her waters broke and she was in labour. I've hit my due date now and i am gonna try it, worth a try.

2 claire-i heard from a registerd nurse that his bum crushing your ribs you can get into the doggy style position and keep your but in the air but lay your face on the ground.its called a pelvic tilt.like the way sometime little kids sleep??lol!but thats only advice for you if you havent already had the baby yet.
THIS IS TO ANYONE WHO SAYS CASTROL OIL CAN KILL YOUR BABY...TRACES OF FOOD PARTICLES ARE NEVER FOUND IN THE UMBILICAL CORD!!!THE ONLY THING YOU PASS TO YOUR CHILD IS NUTRIENTS THUS THE BABY DOSENT CRAP BECAUSE OF THE CASTROL OIL BUT BECAUSE OF TOO MANY CONTRACTIONS AT ONE TIME CAUSING FETAL DISTRESS AND MAKING HIM POOP.but i would ask your doctor if you are thinking of using it...unless someone has some kind of medical certificate(i.e., RN,LVN,MD,OBGYN)i would not listen too much too them.

I am 34 wks with my 4th. My second passed bowel with no castor oil just labor .She is a beautiful terrible two year old and perfectly healthy.. So there you have it. Ladies good luck. I'd like to know how it worked and how long it took. Is the taste really bad?

Name: Linda | Date: May 28th, 2005 12:47 AM
Masturbation. Women usually have stronger orgasms when masturbating than with PIV sex, and orgasm stimulates the uterus. So that may help.

Black and blue cohosh can be dangerous and isnt recommended without the advise of your midwife.I am 36 weeks pregnant with my fifth child and all other 4 have been late.I have tried most of the suggestions and nothing works i also have big babys so im hoping this one arrives soon :)

Name: kellie | Date: Jun 8th, 2005 6:09 AM
also try sitting forward on a chair and rock forwards and back thats to turn the baby, please dont get tricked into castor oil, thats "old" remedies, keep busy during the day and relax at night with feet up,or try going for a walk but not too far.Baby will come when ready, its nice and warm inside....
