Answer: I read all the side effects on the little pamphlet they gave me when I got mine done, it doesn't say anything about spotting being a side effect. Make sure you aren't pregnant before getting your next shot. =

Answer: guardasil is the hpv vaccine shot. not sure if it's in the uk. but when i took it, i didn't spot and i was told you should wait about 6 months before getting pregnant after taking the shot. and funnily enough, i took my final shot for it in september and got pregnant in march. good thing it took it's time. =

Name: angelmonkey | Date: May 13, 2008, 5:06
Answer: oh i thought it was some kind of contaceptive shot like th edepo shot or something...............no i dont think we have that in the uk =

Name: Teddyfinch | Date: May 13, 2008, 5:43
Answer: yeah it's a widely debated vaccine because some moms see it as doctors saying their daughters will be sexually active and should have it and it's like well yeah just incase they are. i swear, we americans argue about everything lol. =

Answer: so if i AM pregnant, will it be any harm to my baby???? i'll have to research that... =

Name: amanda17 | Date: May 13, 2008, 12:49
Answer: I THINK I got pregnant just a few weeks after I had my third shot, it certainly wasn't six months later. Other than being small my baby is doing fine so don't worry so much about it. =

Name: strix-aliana | Date: May 13, 2008, 13:58
Answer: thank you =D =

Name: Deserae90 | Date: May 13, 2008, 15:56
Answer: I got the first shot when I was pregnant [before I knew, obviously] and my Dr. didn't mention spotting as a side effect. If you are pregnant, you have to start the series over again after you give birth, which sucks because I thought that shot really hurt :[ Good luck! =

Name: Deserae90 | Date: May 13, 2008, 15:59
Answer: Oh, I just read the rest of the thread. My dr. it was too new to know for sure but they have a number to call for mom's to report any deformities [scary]. But she also said most likely the first shot won't do too much harm.  =

Name: angelmonkey | Date: May 13, 2008, 16:13
Answer: that shot isnt going to hurt after you give birth lol!!  =

Name: strix-aliana | Date: May 13, 2008, 16:47
Answer: haha... C SECTION!!  =

Name: amanda17 | Date: May 13, 2008, 18:05
Answer: I didn't think it hurt at all... But my second shot did make me really dizzy, I felt like I was going to faint. When my sister got it she started crying and refused to go back for the other two. She has pretty much no pain tolerance though. *shrugs* =

Name: strix-aliana | Date: May 13, 2008, 18:29

Answer: angel gardasil is a vaccine for hpv, high risk hpv can cause cervical cancer in women so now they are offering a vaccine for it. =

Name: amanda17 | Date: May 13, 2008, 19:42
Answer: It prevents cervical cancer and other I guess symptoms or side effects of HPV. Two of my friends were diagnosed with HPV and they don't really seem to care, they are spreading it like wildfire. I had decided to get the shot after that even though it's pretty unlikely that I will get it because I'm only ever planning on having sex with one person for the rest of my life (and I'm pretty sure he feels the same way lol)... But better safe than sorry I suppose. =

Name: amanda17 | Date: May 13, 2008, 19:43
Answer: It doesn't actually prevent HPV itself. =

Name: strix-aliana | Date: May 13, 2008, 19:52
Answer: amanda that's terrible, i hate to hear about ppl who spread around things like that. people just don't care anymore!!! ugh i swear the world's gonna end like TOMORROW. i can feel it. ha... =

Name: amanda17 | Date: May 13, 2008, 19:53
Answer: Well she got it, then she gave it to her boyfriend, then they broke up... Then she started dating some coke dealer so I really don't care if he gets it :P =

Name: strix-aliana | Date: May 13, 2008, 19:59
Answer: that's one dirty love triangle LOL. i know someone like that. she used to be one of my BEST FRIENDS until she started giving her vag to every slut in the city. some people just don't have any standards...  =

Name: grow_up | Date: May 13, 2008, 21:27
Answer: Pssst! Just so you know, 8O% of women contract hpv at some time in their life. It usually clears itself up on its own. There are over 13O strains of hpv and only a few can cause cervical cancer or genital warts. Guardasil protects against 7O% of those few strains. If you've had sex, odds are more than likely you've had some form of it at some time. Only the high risk types are considered a big deal. =

Name: grow_up | Date: May 13, 2008, 21:28
Answer: Sorry....they had posters in my OB's office in every room for it and I read them over and over waiting lol =

Name: angelmonkey | Date: May 14, 2008, 5:57
Answer: ok i know this may come across as a bit dumb but is hpv like a sexually transmittited infection? its just in the uk i,ve never heard of such thing lol =

Name: strix-aliana | Date: May 14, 2008, 11:21
Answer: yes, hpv is spread sexually =

Name: Teddyfinch | Date: May 14, 2008, 22:52
Answer: oh hpv is in the uk, but it probably goes by a different name. just mono here is glandular fever there. =

Name: strix-aliana | Date: May 14, 2008, 23:38
Answer: ah interesting. well AF isn't here yet and i hope she stays away! i want a baby!  =

Name: kalokairi | Date: May 15, 2008, 0:08
Answer: angel the most common form of hpv that i am sure you have heard of is genital warts. there are over 100 strains of hpv and each causes a different thing. unfortunately they are still learning about it but the strains that cause cervical cancer are what gardasil hopes to protect against. but hpv itself is a sexually transmitted disease spread by skin to skin contact....a condom does NOT protect you from hpv. =

Name: angelmonkey | Date: May 15, 2008, 5:51
Answer: oh right, yeh i,ve heard of genital warts but we dont have any kind of jabs over here for anything like that, maybe they should do =

Name: strix-aliana | Date: May 16, 2008, 10:46
Answer: woops i was spelling gardasil incorrectly... HAHA. (i'm pretty sure that's how it's really supposed to be) =
