Hi, I am 40 wks and 1 day. I haven't tried the sex thing yet but if nothing happens soon. I WILL! I am 2 cm dilated. I don't want to be INDUCED! I had my NST yesterday and everything looks GREAT! I am VERY NERVOUS about labor and delivery. ↑
I am 40 weeks and 1 day and i have been having sex through my whole pregnancy and every second day lately and it has done nothing for me for starting labour or contractions. I also walk every day. I personally think there is nothing that can be done to make the baby come faster. Its all up to the baby when he wants out. :) ↑
Oh yeah it worked for me too, I think, and it was fun! I think my hubby has a bit of a preg fetish... my last week before delivering was very interesting! ↑
it worked with my first child, but with my second i was having sex up to 4 times a day and it still didnt bring my labour on. i think it is just up to the baby when it is ready to come out it will. ↑
my husband and i have been having so much sex we took all the fun out of it. im 38 weeks and 2 cm dialated. we plan to keep going with it just incase it might work this time but so far, no luck ↑
One thing that I tried when I was 37 weeks pregnant was I had sex with my boyrfriend and then didnt get up right away, then I went for about a 45 minute walk afterwards...and i didnt go into labor but it did something because about 2 hours later I was having contrations 2 minutes apart for about 2 hours or so, went to the hospital and everything, but then they stopped! so i think it definately can help jump start something....even though it hurts like hell afterwards! I still have no baby and i am now 39 weeks, and i can not wait, it seems like FOREVER!!! ↑

The only thing about sex inducing labour is that the man has to be good at it... LOL.. my doctor said its the female orgasim that helps bring on labour. have fun .. for my last one i had sex and drank rasberry tea.. and she came the next night at midnight ↑
Also helps to ENJOY the sex. has same affect as nipple stimulation. Will make the uterus contract which is what you want at this point. So if youre not enjoying it, don't bother. ↑
Get a grip - can't believe all the fuss about you guys desperate to have baby on or before due date - even if it's overdue by 2 weeks, if they monitor, chances are things will be fine! Let nature take its course! (Although with our last baby, 2 weeks over and facing induction, all the tricks on the same night - a comedy show, small glass of red wine, curry and sex - didn't shift him!!) ↑
I think it depends on how ready your body is. With my first I was in 2 weeks early labor, tried the nipple stimulation and lots of sex. I would say it did speed things up, contractions were starting to become stronger and closer and at 39 weeks had a beautiful girl. Im pregnant now with my 2nd 37 weeks 3cm and 60% effaced and been at 3cm for over a week.I lost my mucus plug over 3 weeks, been in and out of the hospital for strong contractions but nothing. I have tried everything i did with my first and nothing really seems to work at the moment. I guess nature will take its course. Your body will let you know, if its ready it wont hurt to keep trying ;) I am. ↑
I force my husband to have sex at least once a day for the last week or so, I'm 2 days shy of 40 weeks, and am 80% effaced and 2 cm dilated. No sign of labor yet. It is at least preparing my cervix, thinning it out even more so that I'm even closer to being ready when I do begin labor. This baby is coming when HE decides to, all I can do is try to help he decide! ↑
I'm glad sex is an option for all of you, my husband won't. Hasn't wanted to for a while. Can you imagine how ugly you feel when your husband won't even touch you. It's not like I gained weight everywhere. All I have is a little basketball in front. He says that the baby is "like right there." Sex life, what sex life. :( ↑
At 37 weeks we were 1 1/2cm no effacement and 0 station. My husband and I started having sex every night at 38 weeks to get things moving. I'm 39 weeks now an we're at station +2, 80% effaced and and 3 1/2cm dialated. I would say it's doing something. If nothing else, you won't be having sex for the next six weeks or so, enjoy this time!!! ↑

I think part of the problem is that a lot of you have too much info! In UK, there isn't a regular internal for '2cm, 4ch, 6 cm dilated unless there isa good reason to do so. Usually, this just happens once things are 'moving' !
Also, % effacement and station? Sorry - right over my head! Just stop fretting about it - that alone will make it less likely to start! Keep being naughty though, it makes the wait easier!!! ↑
Forgot to mention - keep a good sense of humour while your 'at it' - - it's difficult to fool around at 38 - 40 weeks and keep a straight face! The mirth probably helps things as well !!! ↑
Well it hasn't worked for me. At 32 weeks, I was 1cm, and 60%effaced, I am now 38 weeks, and 3.5cm, and 85%effaced. We are hoping soon she will come out, but we have tried having sex atleast once a day, but we have givin up, it hasnt been working at all. good luck ↑
well i think sex is really good, but im 38 weeks pregnant and i had sex on saturday night 10min after i had to rush to the hospital. with painful contraction i came out yesterday, just false labour. ↑
like many people have said here . semen contains prostglandins. from wha ti ahve heard the stuff they give you in the hospital actually contains pig semen.kinda yucky but . heck if it works. some poeple it works for others it does not i honestly belive that if the baby is ready it might kick start it . but other wise . probably not. and those ppl sex is working for. probably would have gone into labour anyways in a day or so . ↑
It worked for me. I was dialated to a 1 and had sex 3 times in one weekend. Monday morning I woke up and went to the hospital, I was at a 4 and 75% effaced. I had her 2 1/2 weeks early. ↑
