how long does the bleeding last?

I was wondering how long for those who gave a vaginal birth and how long the bleeding lasts. it has been 10 days here and the bleeding has slowed down a bit but still steady. i am hoping it doesn't take a full 6 weeks! how long was it for you? also i had an episiotomy and 2nd degree tear... not sure if that makes a difference in the bleeding...

I remember bleeding for not that long. Not sure exactly, but about 2 weeks. What I DO remember is the most INSANE burning sensation when having to pee afterwards. I had NO episiotomy and one small stitch. That's it. I wish someone had warned me about the burning. I gave birith with NO drugs and the burning was almost worse than that. A girlfriend of mine said she didn't have that at all and had an episiotomy too. Not sure if you had that but between that and the boobs hurting way more than I ever imagined, the pregnancy, labor, birth and bleeding wasn't as bad as those 2 things!!!

hi alirenee, when did you have your baby?!?! and you found out you are pregnant again 2 months after you had the baby?? wow! how are you feeling? i am overwhelmed with this new motherhood thing. Will this be your 2nd child? It's been 11 days I am still bleeding steadily like a medium period. I hope it is normal. I am paranoid about recovering for some reason... like something is going to go wrong! I haven't even looked down there! My SIL told me not to look at the stitches because then I will be more worried & just freaked out on top of it.... eeekkk!

Do not worry. You are fine. You JUST had a baby whether 10 days or 10 weeks agon. You're fine. Relax. I'm sure you're a super wonderful mother and I felt the 'baby blues' for about 2 weeks after and then it all went away. I'm a super happy positive person and I was crying for no reason, felt so ugly and just out of sorts completely. I had the best pregnancy and then felt like such shit as soon as I had the baby and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect baby boy. I had him November 10th, so yes, I'm about 6-7 weeks pregnant. I loved being pregnant and though it took 2 weeks, for many mothers, 2 months or way longer, to get over myself, I'm so happy to be a mom now. YOu'll shake it, trust me. It's normal. My husband was looking at me afterwards saying he was upset because I wasn't telling him what was wrong and it was because I had no idea. I felt like total shit. It will go away, trust me :):)

thanks for the encouragement! and congratulations on another baby! my husband would love to have them back to back, just because him and his siblings are so close in age they absolutely love it. do you think you will have more than 2? that's awesome you had such an easy pregnancy. i enjoyed my 2nd trimester alot since it was the most comfortable, but my 3rd tri just got really ackward since i am really small they big belly pretty much knocked me around. well, i sure am happy for you! since you are on a roll of the new baby with diaper changes & the whole routine, it will be a piece of cake to juggle one more & then be done with it for awhile! i would love to have another one soon but i am just so overwhelmed. i cant imagine me trying to load up 2 car seats and strollers!

Evae... no baby here yet! i'm 37 weeks.. and at my last appt i was at 2cm and 50%effaced... so my doctor thinks it could literally be anytime.. she said she'd bet her own money he'll be at least two weeks early.. i just dont want a v-day baby!! :) but anyways... no i wont get induced... unless absolutely necessary.. but my dr will break my water a day before my due date if he's not here yet... so i'm hoping he comes on his own... but i'm just hanging in there.. my son and my DH are both sick.. and i just got over it.. so i'm really hoping the baby stays put for another week.. and then he can grace us when we're all healthy again! how are you enjoying motherhood? its the best!!

Name: evae777 | Date: Feb 5th, 2008 3:29 PM
well i wish you a safe and healthy delivery! please share your birth story as soon as you can. i wish i was enjoying motherhood more. i've had a fever of 102.3 the other night that still is barely going away. i feel bad that my dh mom came to visit (without any notice) & I wasn't able to be on my "A" game. Having no success with getting baby to latch on & I probably have Mastitis. Super exhausted & probably getting a little depressed due to the circumstances. I'm staying positive that it will all turn around once I recover, which seems like a long stretch from here :(

thanks Evae.. i had a drs appt today and i'm now 3cms and 70% effaced.. so she said it will be anytime... but if all else fails shes going to try stripping my membranes in 13 days! so we'll see! but i will definately post my story as soon as i can! i can't wait to be able to do so! i'm really sorry you're having so much trouble with the breastfeeding.. i've had friends that it just didnt work for.. and bless their hearts they tried so hard... but hang in there... it will be okay.. one way or the other.. it sounds like you're doing everything you can and then some.. which makes you that much better of a mommy just for taking the time to try and fix things! i think its great! just hang in there.. it will be fine!

evae, so sorry to get back to this late. My boys name is Justin Alexander Dailey. Landon is very very nice. I haven't heard of that but love that it's different but not too unusual sounding. I live in good ol' American New Jersey!!! (40 minutes outside of NYC :):) Where do you live evae?????

I know what you mean about feeling overwhelmed. I did at first too and I'm sure that feeling will more than come again. But there's just not a single thing I can do about now but go with it. I've thought about the double stroller I will be needing and I can't help but laugh!!!

evae, just read about the fever. It's been a few days since you posted it, but how are you feeling?? Try not to get depressed, you are doing fine and then some, just like izechsmamma said. I know it sounds funny, and you may be doing this, but try to get out as often as you can, even if just for a half hour or so. It lifts your spirits so much just to get out. Especially if you're having trouble with breastfeeding. I can't imagine that. I have been formula feeding from the start and I love it.
I'm due Sept 30th by the way. Had my first dr appt. Everything looks fine so far.
Hope you're feeling better...

Hi alirenee86 I live in San Francisco!! My husband is from Boston. How are you? How's pregnancy? Are you feeling the morning sickness or is this time around much better?? I am on Antibiotics for the Mastitis. The kid is latching & able to be breastfed! But he is a little lazy. He falls asleep & just hangs there for the longest time then I think he is done, I wrap things up & he cries again & I just end up bottle feeding him. I saw a woman yesterday with a triple stroller! I can't imagine. The good thing is, you just get it out of the way. Our friend just had twins & they are colicky! Landon has been crying alot lately too. I have just been letting him cry it out & then he stops and falls asleep. I feel bad but I can't hold him all day. How is Justin doing? Are you from NY?? Do you like it there? I am originally from the midwest. I miss the 4 seasons really badly lately.

Hi evae...Justin is an EXCELLENT baby. Sleeps a minimum of 9 hours every single night. Rarely crieds unless he's really hungry or overtired then he stops. I'm PRAYING this one is the same. My 1st pregnancy was also SO amazing easy!!! I'm praying this goes the same too, though I feel more sick and tired than I ever did with Justin.
Glad you're having some luck with breastfeeding, that's got to be so tough!
I'm from NY, yes. Lived in NYC after college and just love it!! In the suburbs now in a house with a backyard and that's great too! I've been to San Diego, never San Fran but hear it's really cool!

how old is Justin? I wish my boy would sleep like that, he is only 4 weeks old. when do they start to sleep more? & if he is sleeping I should just let him sleep right? sometimes I wake him up to eat & then he just squeals the whole time.

Hi Evae, I had a CSection and my bleeding has stopped and it's been 4 weeks. I still have to wear a pad from other secreations. It sucks!!
How are you? How is the baby. We're doing fine. Can't wait to get rid of all this snow. I'm from Wisconsin and we are expecting more on Sunday. How are you adjusting with the new little one. I can't believe my little guy is already a month old. How is yours sleeping? Is it too soon to have a sleep pattern? Talk to you soon. Kristi

evae- Jusin is now 3 months old. He was born Nov 10th and started sleeping 8-10 hours a night every night starting January 1st, so he was less than 2 monhths when he started. I have heard over and over though that formula fed babies sleep better through the night and I am bottle feeding. I wouldn't wake yours up to feed him unlesss he's really over the time. Sounds like he's just mixed up still and that's normal. He'll get on track.

hey Evae, I had my baby Jan 29th, and the bleeding is pretty much all the way finished. It's like the end of a period right now.. There are times when I go potty and there's no blood, then right when I think it's over, a little bit comes out again. Congrats Alirenee on the 2nd baby! I'm so scared of getting pregnant again. We're wanting to wait at least 6 yrs or so before having another one, if at all. Congrats again!

I bled for 4 weeks,no epis,no tears.Try pouring or squirting cool water over when you pee that helps.
