AlisaD- have you started the provera(medroxyprogesteone) yet? i take the same thing, then clomid. I'm on my 3rd month now, i haven't ovulated yet. I really hoping this month is the month! ↑
Yes. I started the medroxyprogesterone on the 20th. I am supposed to take that for 12 days straight. I am on day 5 now. The doctor told me to keep taking them even when I get my period, I have to take all 12. Then on days 3-7 I take the clomid, even if I am still taking the medroxy. Thanks for the information MelissaSLP, that's what I was worried about, the days he told us to have intercourse, I wouldn't be "O", and it would waste the whole month. I hate to hear about your bad luck Malisa. My doctor said that even though I didn't have my period, it had appeared that I had "O". Has anyone had any luck with the Clomid - Medroxy combination???? ↑
MelissaSLP, I took your advise. I went on ebay and purchased a set of OPK. It has like 20 o tests, & 5 pg tests. I can't wait for them to get here. Oh yeah, everyone send me lots of baby dust, I am starting to spot, so in three days I get to start my clomid!!! ↑
AlisaD- Do you know why your doctor told you to keep on taking the pills even if you got your period? when i took them last month i got my period on the 5th pill, my doctor wasn't in so i asked the pharmacist and she said if i got my period i could stop. This month i'm on pill 7 and still haven't got it. ↑
Hi girls! I was told to take progesterone (prometrium) for 10 days. I always would end up getting my period by day 5. I would then take clomid on days 3-7. I got pregnant on my third round of clomid (100mg). My Dr did an ultrasound on day 12 to see if I had any follicles. I only had one the month I got preg.
I'm 17 1/2 weeks along. I think it is important to talk to your Drs about doing the U/S to see if you are going to ovulate. Because if you aren't, then they can up your dosage of clomid and start you right back on the progesterone immediately.
Good luck! ↑
brie- congratulations!! That is so awsome it give us all hope hearing someone elses success. i am on my third month of clomid of 100mg, i didn't ovulate the first 2 months so i am hoping so badly that i will this month. I also have pcos. Do you? and did you ovulate the first 2 months on clomid before you got pregnant? ↑
HI Malisa,
Have they up'd your dosage of clomid? I was on 50mg for 2 months and did not ovulate. One the third month I was on 100mg and I did ovulate. The first 2 months I was seeing my regular ob/gyn and they were testing my progesterone level on day 21. On the 3rd month I went to a specialist and he did an ultrasound on day 12 to see if I was going to ovulate. (he also did the day 21 progesterone test). Like I said before, the U/S was the key becuase he was able to see if I had any follicles that would release (ovulate). Had I not had any, he would have immediately strted me back on the prometrium to get a period and then clomid 150mg.
I also have pcos. They had me on 1500mg of Metoformin(glucaphage).
The took me off the metoformin once they found the heartbeat though.
I would talk to your Dr about increasing the mg of clomid and doing a day 12 ultrasound. Hopefully it will speed the process up for you. I know how long it feels and how frustrating it all is.
Stay on top of it with your Dr. Insist on what you think you need.
Let me know if you are already doing all of this, as I don't mean to be repetitive. ↑
Brie1227- The first 2 months I was on clomid it was a 50mg dose. I am just on my last few pills of provera, waiting for my period, then I will start clomid 100mg for the first time. I also go for the progesterone test on day 24 to see if i ovulate. Your giving me hope this month. I can't wait to start the clomid. My doctor said if i don't get pregnant after 6 months of being on clomid then to come back and see him, and we will have to try something else. 6 months seems so long, i really hope this works. Did you bd every second day. My doc said every second day from Cd10- 24. ↑
Malissa,
We Bded every day from day 12 to day 19. I am sure it will happen for you, have faith. Why don't you suggest to your Dr that you would like an U/S on day 12 to see if you are even going to ovulate? Because if you aren't, then they can immediately up your dosage to 150mg and get you started sooner. My regular OBGYN was not doing U/S. And I was never ovulating. The first time I went to the specialist and he gave me 100mg, he did the U/S and sure enough I had a follicle and got pregnant! I found that taking control really helped me and husband. We weren't waiting for the Dr to do it, we were the ones seeking out the treatment plan we wanted--and it worked. It cna't hurt to ask.
6 months on cloid is what they told me too. He said he would start the IUI's if I didn't get Preg after 6 months.
But it only took 3. Hang in there. I will pray for babies for you!! ↑
Malisa, We concieved our singleton on our 6th cycle of Clomid (although it was a year to the date of starting it b/c my cyles were so long). When we started trying again, it took 5 cycles to get pregnant again (ended in m/c), but got pregnant again on the next cycle with the twins. So, really 6 cycles for each successful pregnancy. Baby Dust to you! ↑
I don't know why he told me that, but he said that I needed to take the full dose (12 pills). I started progesterone on the 20th. On the 27th I started my period. It lasted 8 days, but I hadn't had a period in 3 months (I have PCOS and my periods don't come if I'm not of BC pills). I took clomid on days 3-7, and I am now on day 13. We are supposed to bd on days 13,15,17. I did buy an OPT kit off ebay, and I took one test yesterday and it was negative. It is supposed to show up positive, I believe 24-36 hours before "O". Anyways, he said to take all of the progesterone even if I got my period, and take clomid on days 3-7, then come see him if I haven't had a period by day 35. He'll then do a pg test, and if it's negative, he'll do an ultrasound to see if I've ovulated. If I am not pg, he'll up my clomid to 100mg. Hopefully I will not need to get upped. My Husband wanted to kill me with the low dose clomid. He threatened to hide them from me because I was so 0-60 mad, and very emotional. I'd just start crying for absolutely no reason, and he's like "I DIDN"T DO ANYTHING!!!" LOL. It's just a small sacrafice for a baby. ↑
hello everybody, i have just started taking provera hopefully to get a period after the 7th day then i can start taking clomid i would really like to have twins any suggestions! ↑
Last month was my 1st cycle of 100 mg clomid and so far I am 3 days late for AF. I have yet to take a HPT cause I'm a bit nervous. If it's positive, it will be my 8th pregnancy and I have one son who is 6 years old. The others were 4 early m/c's all before 9 weeks, one tubal pregnancy and one that I lost at 14 weeks. So as you can see, it's not the "getting pg" part I have a problem with, it's the "making it stick" part. I think today I will buy a test and see if it's positive. Wish me luck!! ↑
KitCat-I wish you all the luck in the world. I could not imagine going through what you have gone through. Again, good luck on the results and the pg (if that is the result). ↑
Twinmom2be- Thanks for your wishes of good luck. Unfortunately the HPT was a big fat negative, and AF started on Tuesday. So I guess I'll be starting a 2nd cycle of clomid again soon.......*sigh* I saw your post that you got PG with twins on your first cycle of clomid...what dosage was it, if you don't mind saying? Thanks in advance. ↑
KitCat-sorry to hear AF showed up. I was on 50 mg days 3-7. I did ovulate by myself just not regularly. Maybe that is why I ended up with twins :) Again good luck. ↑
hey everyone. Just wanted to update on my clomid story. I just went thru cycle 2 on clomid. I am on day 14 and just got back from mr dr. appt. He gave me an ultrasound to monitor my "progress". He said that my right ovary didn't do anything, and that my left ovary produced a folicle. (I thought that I was supposed to produce several folicles in one ovary? I hear women say the got 9 from the left and 9 from the right, sometimes more? Maybe that's with a special drug, because it's usually always with IFV people?) He said that I had a really thick white stripe!!), and he also said that was uterus looked great, and it was all ready to go. He said for us to bd on the 14th, 16th, and 18th this time. I also have my opt's so I'll be monitoring that. Last month for my 1st clomid cycle I O'd on cd17 and had the dredded af on cd32(It came all by itself, so that's a plus. Before, I would only have AF if I was on bc pills!). So everyone wish me luck, and pray for the wicked witch to stay away!!! ↑
Alisa, I just wanted to tell you that I did 3 rounds of clomid. 2 months at 50mg and 1 month at 100mg. I went in on Day 12 of my cycle on the 100, and only had 1 follicle. I didn't have any on my right, and only the one on my left. I was so disappointed and felt terribly disappointed, as I was hoping to obviously have many since that made the chances go up for getting PG.
My Dr told us to bd every day until day 18 and we did. I got pregnant first try! I never ovulated on the 50 mg, so the first month that clomid worked, boom--i got pregnant. I was also taking metoformin.
So just thought I would give you some hope. Even though you only had one follicle---it only takes one. So bd like crazy and have fun!
I wish you all the best! Good luck and baby dust!!! ↑
You were told to bd every day? My doctor told me only every other day, because if you bd every day it lowers the sperm count. I was thinking constantly bd also, that way, not to sound bad, there's alot more "in" there (sorry) and the higher your chances would be. I think I'll take your advise and bd alot like you said!!! Thanks for the story, it makes me feel alot better to hear someone going through what I am experiencing, and come out with a positive result. ↑
Hi AlisaD. I am on cd20. There are a few ladies on "anyone take clomid days 1-5" Everyone is just starting to take it or have taken it. I'm the closest to you. What day are you going to test? ↑
I'm not sure, I always get too anxious and test way too soon, and jinx myself, LOL. Last month my cycle was 32 days. I am supposed to expect my af around cd 28, and call dr. if no af by cd35. So I figure I am going to try and wait it out this time to at least cd30. TRY being the key word!!! It's just so hard to do when that's all that's on your mind, then you read about people saying "I tested on this day and got a positive!!!, or my period isn't even due for a week, and I got a positive!" It's so aggrivating!! GRRR!! hopefully I will have a bfp to add to the list this time around!!! ↑
Just an update....I am on my 2nd cycle of 100mg clomid on CD 9 today. The clomid made my cycles longer last month. I usually get AF on day 27 or 28, but last month was on day 32. And I wasn't PG cuz I took a test. How many of you take either Robitussin or Mucinex while on Clomid? Thanks in advance, Cat ↑
This last cycle that I am on now, I took robitussin. I took 2tsp in the am and 2 tsp in the pm, but you are only supposed to take it until you ovulate!!! ↑
I tried taking the epo, (evening primrose oil), but it kept giving me sharp pains, and I would get lightheaded, and my mouth would start watering and I felt as if I was going to faint, so I didn't take it the next day and it didn't happen, and I took it the day after that - and it happened again, so I am not taking it anymore. I'll just stick to my robitussin! ↑
I have heard that Mucinex is better because you only have to take one pill a day as opposed to 2 tsp 3x a day with the Robitussin. Also, I found out I purchased the wrong kind of Robitussin and had to go back and get the right one with the right active ingredient. Sheesh! AlisaD, have you also used progesterone cream before or no? Just curious. I have heard of women eating yams to help, but ughhh, yams are #2 on my list of 'things I refuse to eat'. Guess you either like them or you don't! LOL
