| how many clomid twin moms out there |
Question: Hello! I am asking this for my cousin. She recently miscarried a set of twins, and her Dr. put her on Clomid to conceive again. Her mother is a fraternal twin, and she has already conceived twins (she's only 24). I also have twins, so they do seem to run in the family:). How many women here conceived twins on Clomid? She is a little concerned that it could happen again, although the twinning rate seems to be like 10%, which isn't THAT high. How often does it happen, REALLY? ?

| Answer: I am 27 weeks pregnant with twins. I was on 50mg of Clomid. This is my second pregnancy with Clomid. The first time I had one baby. This time I'm pregnant with twins. = |
| Answer: just one cycle on clomid with iui and i'm 15 weeks with twins. good luck. = |
| Answer: If your cousin got pg spontanously w/ the set of twins she miscarried, its is very likely she'll get pg w/ twins again (even if she wasn't taking clomid)... that doesn't mean she definitely will, but just that her chances are much greater than normally would be expected. = |
| Answer: I got preganat after my first dose-clomid 50 mg. I waiting to see if I'll get twins out it. My grandmother-YEARS ago went through fertility treatment and conceived twins. We'll see! = |
| Answer: I've been on Clomid for all 3 of my pregnancies. The first was a singleton, the second I miscarried and now I am 17 weeks with twins. I'm told there's only a 10% increase of twins with Clomid, but with family history, it could be a lot more. = |
| Answer: i was on 50 mg and got pregnant with twin boys = |
| Answer: are these clomid twins identical, or fraternal?? = |
| Answer: Most of the time when using fertility drugs the twins are fraternal. = |
| Answer: I took Clomid 50mg for one month and just found out I'm pregnant with fraternal twins (I'm 13 weeks). It says right on the prescription insert that to talk to your doctor about the increased risk of multiples. Never thought it would happen to me. I'm excited though!! = |
| Answer: Hello ladies I am just about to start clomid & would love twins what dayts did you take your dose & what amts? = |
| Answer: Michelle - congrats!! quest. do you ovulate on your own? what days did you take your clomid? = |
| Answer: I was told that my chances of having twins (with no family history) on one round of clomid was about 4%. I conceived TRIPLETS on one month of clomid. One baby passed at about 9-10 weeks. Its sac was too small, although the baby was doing fine otherwise.
I was told I had a better chance to win the lottery than have triplets. It was less than .1% for that to happen! = |
| Answer: Jean - oh my goodness...congrats!! I hope I am as lucky as you...what days did you take clomid & what dose? Love to hear from you. = |
| Answer: hello! the whole triplet thing was a very emotional time. It was not expected, our son was not even two, and we were so confused. With those odds, who would have thought! My doc said with one dose of clomid, he has rarely seen twins and never saw triplets. I had ZERO symptoms and went for an U/S and was shocked when they were naming Baby A, B, and C!
Anyway, nature took its course and we lost Baby C right before the CVS tests, which we continued to do.
I was on 100 mg from days 5-9. I dont know why my doc started me at that dose. I was taking it for low progesterone, meaning IF I produced eggs, there was not enough progesterone to "kick it out" as my doc said. I am 35, so perhaps that is why the doc thought to give me a larger dose.
Anyway, I am now 31 weeks, almost 32 weeks along with b/g twinies on the way! It still shocks me that I am going to me a mommy to twins AND to three kids 2 and under! = |
| Answer: Jean - I know it must be overwhelming..but, god doesn't give us what we can't handle best wishes to you & your family. I am just about to start clomid this mth. = |
| Answer: 10 weeks pregnant with twins now after one cycle of trying with Clomid! Suprise! = |
| Answer: Julie - how awesome how long were you on clomid & what dose & days did you take it. would love to hear about your good news. = |
| Answer: Hi, I did 7 (50mg to 200mg) months of Clomid and did not ovulate consistently at all. I changed my doctor who put me on a lower dose of Clomid along with Glucaphage (a medicine for insulin resistance, because a blood test showed I was insulin resistant), and a strict low-carb diet. I concieved after one month. Am 18 wks with twins. My first pregnancy and I'm very excited. = |
| Answer: Hi Rarly post - congrats on your 1st pg ..just curious how u r feeling? what do you think your having? I was wondering what days you took the clomid? Did you have any side effects?thx. = |
| Answer: Hi Julie - how r u? Jean how r u doing? = |
| Answer: I got pregnant with twins the second month on Clomid. We couldn't be more excited! And for the record, nearly everyone I know who has admitted to taking Clomid has had twins. = |
| Answer: Lauren, Am feeling good so far. Clomid did not have any side-effects this time. On 200mg I had extreme bouts of depression ~ 1 hour after taking the pill, and sometimes a headache (this is described in the information the pharmacist gives you). I took it on the days recommended by the doctor for 5 days (I forget exactly which days). The doctor then saw me almost 2-3 times a week to do a vaginal untrasound and monitor the development of the egg(s). On day 13 I was called in for HcG shots (injection on your bum, to stimulate the release of the egg(s)) and two days after, I was called in for an IUI. 2 more weeks later I found out I was pregnant :-) I would NOT recommend doing any of this unsupervised by a good endocrinologist. My previous doctor was a regular OB-GYN, and didn't diagnose any problems... just embarked on a course of Clomid and it didn't help. He stopped the Clomid after a 6 months course because it is not recommended for long term use. My 2nd doc was a good endocrinologist -- I guess I'm trying to strongly suggest you go to a good specialist. Going to the wrong doctor/getting the wrong treatment is financially and emotionally draining. = |
| Answer: Rarelypost - thank u for the info my ob has me going in for blood test to see if the clomid will make me o...here's hoping.
Deb - how far along r u? how exciting I would love to be in your shoes...I'm on day 2 of clomid 50mg ...stats sure don't seem to good for having twins...only the lord knows. = |
| Answer: Hi, i wish you all luck! I am now 16 weeks pregnant with twins and we can't wait. I tried for 2 years to get pregnant and finally switched doctors which dignosed me PCOS! After four months of 100mg of clomid bang i was pregnant. My charts were off the wall and we thought that it wasn't working! But then after missing my period i realized that maybe i really was pregnant! = |
| Answer: Ashley - how wonderful! send us all your baby dust..how r u feeling? how was clomid for you? what days did you take your 100mg = |
| Answer: I am on clomid on the first month, i havent had twins, but i am not sure if i will have twins because i am a twin and my partner is a twin and my partners mother is also a twin, = |
| Answer: Lauren: I would take Clomid on the 5th day on my period and continue for 5 days! I started at 50 and then went to 100. Other then feeling pregnant already things are going great. I am surprised at how big i have gotten already and that i can feel the babies move around sometimes. My 3 yr. old daughter is very excited as well, she hopes for girls! But any combination will due. Hopefully we can find out here the end of this month what they are. It is very nice that you get so many ultrasounds done, i have already had 2 done! I am not due until Dec 26, but i am not sure if i will make it that long. My doctor tells me that i will be put on bed rest around 28 weeks, does that seem right, it seems kind of early to me. Are you or have you had twins lauren? = |
| Answer: Lauren, sorry after reading over the past conversations, i see you are not pregnant yet. I wish you the best of luck. I did not mention to you that i also was on a carb diet because of PCOS. It was to help maintain my weight and to stay healthy. Until now i really didn't realize how common it was to have twins on clomid. The warning states it increases the chance, but i never would have thought that it would be me. Just stay positive and it will happen soon enough. My husband and I would always make some type of fun game each time we were making love/baby making! It took the pressure off what we were really trying to accomplish. After trying for two years, our sex life had went down hill alot, we are only 21 and 22 yrs. old, it should still be GREAT!! And once we made fun games with it, i think that not haveing the extra stress helped us conceieve our babies! = |
| Answer: Lauren, i was on clomid for 4 mths until i got pregnant. I started at 50mg and then went to 100mg. I am not sure how many months i was on the 100mg, it would have been no more then 3. i think i was on 50 mg for 2 months and then 100mg for 2 months and then i was pregnant. It all happened so fast, and it happened when i least expected it to b/c the ob told me that the way my body was reacting anfd in many cases, you won't get pregnant before 6 months. Sometimes it can take years. He had gone over all the risks and the chance for us to have twins and his opioion was that it probally wouldn't happen b/c of the way my bosy was working. So just b/c your ob states that he/she doesn't think that it will happen, that they are right. I believe that everything happens for a reason, not many girls get pregnant at 17 and have a baby and then marry the same guy and have a wonderful life. But i did, i have a great career and a loving family and now twins. If you would of asked people 3 years ago what was going to happen to me, they would of said that i would turn out to be nothing and that i couldn't be a good parent b/c of my age. But they were wrong, i am kinda of subject here, i just want you to keep a positive outlook on things b/c that is when things go your way, when you least expect them to! I am only 16 weeks, so i still have a long ways to go, i would like one of each, my daughter wants girls, and of course my husband wants boys! A lady that works in the same building as me had twins about 3 months ago and she also was on clomid and she was only on 50 mg but she had other problems too. but i believe she said that it took her a about 8 months to get pregnant. But her twins were identical, so i am not sure if that was b/c of clomid or not. = |
| Answer: Ashley - wow you guys are sure on the right track (the lord is amazing). I hope I will be joining you in Aug pg with Twins your right I can't get so down...I will be happy with one of course I just might have to go through another pregnacy to have 2 is all. thanks you made my day. = |
| Answer: Lauren, i wish you the best of luck with everything, keep me posted! It would be nice to have someone else to talk to who is pregnant with twins, or even just pregnant! I'll let you know next week what we are having! = |
| Answer: Hi Ashley - I will keep you posted today is cycle day 16 so we are doing the baby dance everyother day. I think I o'd yest. Will let you know soon..pls pray for us! I can't wait to see what you are having. I sort of feel its going to be one of each.....just a feeling. = |
| Answer: Hi Lauren, I am excited for the anticiaption just find out if it works for you this month! I really feel like it is one of each and my husband thinks it is two girls! I REALLY would like one of each! How many mgs of clomid are you taking?
= |
| Answer: Ashley - I bet your 3 yr old is just so elated. I only took 50mg this mth so I'm not feeling that positive on twins...pretty low chance for me. I go in on Monday for blood work to check that I O'd. I was wondering did you feel any diff. in the beginning compared to your 1st preg. One of each would just be perfect for you! I'll talk soon. = |
| Answer: Lauren, well i was almost 5 months pregnant with Haillee, my first child. So really i can't remember what my feelings where. I was only 17 and my period was never right, i played sports, went to school and worked alot. So i never really payed that much attention to how i was feeling, i never had morning sickness and the same with this pregnancy. Before i got pregnant this time i thought i was pregnant a couple of months ago, and which case i wasn't. So finally i really didn't think that it had worked but then my period never came, so i took the test and sure enough i was, but i never really thought that it was twins. Besides being tired and being hungry alot more then i normally am i wasn't sure that anything had changed. My midwife said there was a possiblity b/c of my size that there might be two, so i went for an ultrasound early! And there they were, so in my case really there was no sign that there were two! Let me know how you make out on your blood work! Have you been having troubles trying to concieve? Is that why your on Clomid? If it is, there is always the chance that the 50mg won't work and you'll get moved up to the 100mg! Keep me posted = |
| Answer: I concieved twins on Clomid the lowest dosege! = |
| Answer: LaRae -
Great to hear & was just wondering what days you took your clomid? & if twins runs in your family...there is hope! = |
| Answer: LaRae, are u pregnant now with twins, if so when are u due? = |
| Answer: On my first iui and clomid attempt, I was pregnant with triplets!!!! = |
| Answer: rachael, when are you due? Congrats and good luck! Lauren, how did your blood work come back? = |
| Answer: ashley - got the good news I O'd for sure...now the wait begins. How r u? = |
| Answer: Lauren, CONGRATS!!!! I am excited, i have a good feeling about it! Even if it is only one! We go today to find out the gender of the babies, i am so excited! We are taking our daughter Haillee along to see the ultrasound. We are trying to keep her involoved so she doesn't feel left out. Do you have any other good ideas on how to help make her feel like she is involved? Good luck and keep me posted, how many more weeks until you know? = |
| Answer: Ashley - how r u feeling? tell me what some of your early pg symptoms were for your twins?some women state they are 2x as strong as single pg, some say same? Your daughter will probably enjoy picking the nursery stuff out. I would also get her alittle stroller & new baby so she can get use to the idea. I bought my daughter twins so that is neat. = |
| Answer: ashley - what are you having?? the suspence is getting to me. as for me not feeling to positive as I wipped this am & red blood was there likely AF. I am 12-14 days post O & cycle day 26 which seems so short. I have cramps still which has been going on for 5 days. Guess its not my turn. Good luck ladies. = |
| Answer: Lauren, Well we are having 2 boys!!! I really felt like it was one of each, but i will still love them both. Well when i first got pregnant, i really had no symptoms. Never had morning sickness or anything, maybe a little increase in hunger and i was a little more tired. But i feel that way around my period. But when i didn't get my period, i knew it worked. But look at it this way, if you got your period this month, maybe only a couple more months anf they will up your dosage of clomid and you'll have a better chance. Have you asked your doctor if you could up your dosage? I feel now like I am really forgetful, did you ever get that way when u were pregnant? Good luck and keep me posted. Do u think it would be easier to use email then writing in this? = |
| Answer: Lauren, U know it might be from the implantion or something like that. it is normal to have that early on... I know that when i was a little farther along i had some slight bleeding, and cramping and it was just something they couldn't explain. Plus a month ago i was bleeding again and here it was from my Cervix, i had a tear in it from having sex,. So that could be too sign you have been ahving alot of it! = |
| Answer: Ashley - oh wow 2 boys how awesome. I had bleeding with both girls a bit in the beginning I just thought I was a little further along....maybe I should test? Oh ya & the forgetful thing...I hate to tell you it is going to get so much worse I like to call it the shrinking brain...it does come back a few mths after you have the babies! my email is tdesser@sympatico.ca talk soon = |
| Answer: I conceived twins naturally last year and miscarried at 13 weeks. Now have luteal phase defect and am getting ready to start first month on Clomid. What are the chances of conceiving twins again, this time on Clomid. I want twins but can't take the pain of losing them again. = |
| Answer: Hi I am the mom of 4 boys, and would like to have another baby, I have a ludal phase defect, and the doctor wants to swich from progestorone to clomid....anyone know much about this? = |
| Answer: I miscarried twins back in May- the first died at 9 weeks and the other at 11 weeks. I had gotton pregnant on clomid. I am now on my first cycle of clomid since my loss- I am on cd6 = |
| Answer: l have 3 yr. old twins from one cycle on the lowest dose of clomid. watch out! = |
| Answer: Lauren & Ashley - I have enjoyed reading your posts. I am new to all this. This is the 1st time I've taken Clomid - 50 mg. It had the opposite affect on me - my husband called it happy pills. I was bouncing off the walls and getting alot done around our new house (just moved 2 weeks ago). With all of you who have gotten pregnant with twins I'm wondering how many mature follicles did you see when you had your internal ultrasounds? I'm wondering what my chances are.
Good luck to everyone! = |
| Answer: Chris, first off Congrats on a new house and good luck with the baby thing! I never had an internal ultrasound done once i was pregnant. I only had a regular ultrasound, and Lauren, well she is still waiting to get pregnant! But i have heard the clomid does cause different side effects when it comes to your mood! I wish you the best of luck and keep us posted... = |
| Answer: Ashley - Did you have any before you got pregnant? I guess I should have clarified, but since I'm not pregnant yet I didn't think about that. I've had about 4 so far so they could watch the progress. I had two mature follicles on Friday and I had to get a shot to stimulate my ovaries to make me ovulate this weekend. I just don't know what the odds are of both eggs being fertilized, if any. They told me I was having a "beautiful cycle" though! = |
| Answer: Hey ladies, just looking for some info. I am currently on my 2nd round of clomid 75mg days 3-7. I am just wondering what your ovulation was like. I am in PAIN!!!! Nothing that would send me to the er, just this dull ach in my whole lady area. I had horrible pain, then a positive opk yesterday, then a neg today but still achy. I am just wondering if this is a sign of a good ovulation. I am currently between ob and re (which I will see on the 16th) so I am unmonitored this month = |
| Answer: Hello Chris & Mimi (and of course Ashley). Just waiting to O. Have to admit taking the clomid at night has really helped my head aches. so far no other side effects. Hope you all are well. = |
| Answer: Chris, i had internal ultrasounds before i went on clomid, i was dignoised with PCOS which poylycystic Ovarian Syndrom, which doesn't allow me to release any eggs. Sorry i can't help you out to much there. I was only on clomid for like 4 months! and i got pregnant with twins on 100mgs. But my ob had me taking the clomid on days 5-9. Which is later then what most women do. But hey it worked, i just wanted to get pregnant, i never expected twins. Good luck and keep me posted, let me know if u have any more questions! = |
| Answer: Mimi, besides being moody, i really didn't have to much pain, so sorry i can't help you out there. Besides i was only on for about 4 months. Good luck! = |
| Answer: Mimi - I wasn't in Pain..however I had alot of cramping & dull ache. For me it was like PMS doubled. = |
| Answer: Hi ladies. I started 100 mg of Clomid this cycle. When I went for ultrasound on day 3, doc said there was a cyst on my left ovary and I would have to stop the Clomid and start a week of birth control. I cried the whole day. Has anyone else had this experience? Also, I am a fraternal twin with history on my mother and father's side and would love to have a set myself. = |
| Answer: I too, have PCOS. So I know all about that. = |
| Answer: I just found out I am pregnant! I was taking 100mg of clomid and had IUI. They did a vaginal ultrasound that showed I had 3 eggs that were mature so now I am waiting to see if I will have 1,2 or 3. = |
| Answer: Thank you ladies for your responses!!! The horrible pain stopped the day after o!!! I am on 5dpo and will see what happens! = |
| Answer: Congrats! I am so happy for you. Let us know when you find out how many you have. = |
| Answer: Dana - congrats! Mimi glad to see the pain has subsided for you. As for me waiting to O & doing the bd'ing thing. Praying for two little ones but, happy with one. Baby dust to all = |
| Answer: I got pregnant on 50 mg of Clomid, taking days 4-8 with TWINS. This was my 3rd cycle. I am currently 14 weeks pg, with 2 healthy babies, dont know what they are yet though. = |
| Answer: DanaWiz - Can't wait to find out how many you're having. Congrats!
I just went thru my 1st round of clomid and didn't get pregnant. I'm going for IUI next time, which we didn't this time. So maybe it will work for me too! = |
| Answer: Kate - congrats how wonderful to be having twins. Did you have alot of symptoms? Let us know what you are having if you are going to find out? = |
| Answer: I was on clomid for one month and became pregnant with twins. I am 13 weeks. Twins also run in my family. = |
| Answer: Kelly, can I ask why you were taking the Clomid? = |
| Answer: We have been ttc #3 for 12 months with no sucess. My ob is starting me on clomid 100mg my next cycle days 2-6. Just wondering if the earlier you start clomid in your cycle the higher chance of twinning it. :)
= |
| Answer: Hi! I was wondering if any of you ladies could answer a question for me? My md is putting me on Clomid and said I only have a 7-8% increased chance of having twins. But I'm wondering if it may be greater as my father is an identical twin and my mother was PG twice with twins. I, also, have a cousin on my mother's side with twins. What do you ladies think? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks! = |
| Answer: I have heard the chances for twins increases 10% on clomid. My husband and I are waiting on his "analysis" and then I will begin my first dose of clomid (50mg). Only have had 2 periods in 9 months. I guess it's a toss up on how long it will take to get pregnant and the chances of multiples. Good luck to all of you--wish me luck too! = |
| Answer: i start clomid tomorrow days 3-7...is it best to take in the morning or at night? I would love to have twins but one is great too....just wanted to know when all the twins moms that took clomid, what days dose and time.... = |
| Answer: Miranda - I took my clomid at night b/c in the a.m I got headaches for the entire day but, at night must have slept through them. = |
| Answer: Hi, everyone. I have 3 healthy children, 1 boy & 2 girls. My older 2 are from a previous marriage. I had a miscarriage last November & we decided that we would like another child. I miscarried due to very low progesterone. I got pregnant very easily with the other 3. My doctor said today that next month I go on clomid to help. I was just wondering if I may have twins because I usually get pregnant so quickly. Seeing your posts, gets me a little excited! I think twins would be awesome. My older 2 kids are 11 & 8. The baby is almost 2. What do you gusy think base on your experience. My ob also does infertility. = |
| Answer: did anyone take clomid and a fertilaid or vitex-having supplement at the same time? just want to know if this is safe. thanks
= |
| Answer: Hi, is anyone out there. I took an ovulation test that says that I am ovulating today. I am not supposed to start clomid until Oct. I am a little nervous about the thought of twins. There is no history in my family. = |
| Answer: tanya..what is your query????..so your ovulating but naturally..no twins in family so there is a small chance (very small perhaps) for you to get pregnant with twins...what exactly is it that you wanted to know????if you dont bd with your hubby in the next 24-36 hours you should be fine get af in approx 2 weeks and then can start your clomid in new cycle...am confused as to why you write??? = |
| Answer: Yas, I was just wondering what my chances would be of having twins. It seems that the clomid does increase the odds. I will be waiting until my next cycle to start clomid. There are quite a few people here who conceived twins on low doses. Are the odds really that high? = |
| Answer: You are NOT supposed to take Clomid and Fertilaid/Vitex. They counteract each other and cancel each other out. = |
| Answer: Tanya, I am in almost the same boat as you. I have four children and have had four miscarriages. We are trying for one last child and my RE prescribed clomid to help correct leutal phase defect (this along with progesterone injections). I also get pregnant very easily and wonder about twins but my RE assured me that twins rarely happen regardless of normal ovulation. Maybe we can go through this together; I am on day 14 of my 1st clomid cycle. = |
| Answer: I've been on clomid for 3mo. now. 1st 2 mo. 50 mg days 5-9, 3rd mo.100mg days 5-9. 1st mo. w/ progesterone. 3rd mo. w/ ovulation shot. Had u/s w/ several follicles. I have high prolactin levels causing infertility...anybody else out there taking clomid for this reason? = |
| Answer: For those of you who DID conceive twins on clomid, what is your age? I've learned during my research that older women are more likely to conceive twins. I'm curious to see if it is true here. = |
| Answer: Morgan- I was also having infertility problems due to high prolactin levels. I was put on Dostinex 0.25mg once a week to lower my levels and to get my body back to normal. Then I did 4 cycles of Clomid with no success. We then tried Femara for 2 cycles and are now pregnant with twin boys by taking 5mg on CD 5-9. Hope that helps. = |
| Answer: When did all of you go in to have ultrasounds? What days? My OB said I have to call on day 28 if I have not gotten my period and am not preg.
Had my first week of 50mg of clomid last week. This is our "on" week. Any advice? Thank you. = |
| Answer: Michelle, I wish you the best! I won't be able to start my first clomid cycle until October. When the Dr decided to use clomid, it was too late to start in Sept. Keep me posted. It is nice to have support! = |
| Answer: This is my first cycle of Clomid. I'm taking 50mg cd5-9. I have one more day of it. I have experienced alot of headaches, but taking Tylenol usually helps.
I have a friend who had both of her girls by Clomid. She just had one at a time. Are twins really this common? I wouldn't mind getting it all over with in one shot. = |
| Answer: I am starting clomid next month, My husband's sperm will be inseminated. I would love twins!!! I lost a baby last year at 21 weeks. Anyone know what I can do to increase my chance of twins. = |
| Answer: I just got back from the doc today, and she has suggested i try Clomid. Im 24 and 2 years ago was found to have polycystic ovaries. From what i read most of you ladies have had multiple births. My husband is a twin and we would love to have twins...... I just curious to hear if many of you ladies had pregnancy symptoms before missing your period and if so what were they??
Im currently 24 days into my cycle. and my cycles very from 25 - 35 days usually.
I really want to try and conceive without clomid and say to myself to give it one more month before i start my clomid cycle..... = |
| Answer: I am now 11 wks pregnant wit twins they were concieved on clomid = |
| Answer: Kate Congrats! What dose and says were you taking clomid. If have repeatedly read that the earlier you take it the more follies, however, there is a common thread on this post of 5-9. I am still trying to figure out which days I will take mine. Good Luck for a healthy 9 months! = |
| Answer: Kate - congrats you are a few days ahead of me however I don't know yet if there is more than one. However not feeling that there is. I took 100mg days 2-6 what dose & days did you? Also have you had any m/s or other? Why did you have your u/s so early? thx for sharing. = |
| Answer: shannon yeah I took clomid days 5-9 and had an early ultra sound because of the previous miscarrages and the docs just wanted to be cautios I was on 50 mg = |
