I used the boppy to help my lo sit before she could sit completely on her own. I seem to remember that only lasted 3-4 weeks and then she could sit on her own and found the boppy to be constraining. So I think it helps them sit but not sure if you will use it that long because before you know it your lo will be off to the next challenge and sitting will be no problem at all. I used my boppy for nursing since she was a newborn so I feel like I got plenty of mileage out of it.

My bub is still a little wobbly so when I'm not there to help steady her I use her boppy. She loves it, I love it, and I don't think it creates a lazy baby problem.

I used pillows to help my dd sit and my older two boys and I think it helped them. Boppy's would be the same thing. It does help encourage them to use their stomach muscles more.

well i did use it yesterday for sitting...but i have to sit there still with her because she tries to wiggle out and ends up on her tummy! i think she's more interested in trying to crawl than sitting right now...she has that look of mischief constantly and i can tell shes looking over things to see what she can get into, haha. oh boy! so...i am using it with her on her tummy and it kind of helps her figure out how to get up on her knees now in the crawling position which she couldn't do on her own without it so it might be a help for her building those muscles and coordination....i don't know, i think its too late to be much use but my dh said to keep it for the next baby anyways since we know we're going to try and have another on in the future, if anything she can use it to lay back and rest her head on as she gets older for reading and stuff like that

Margie, I actually use my boppy for myself to sit up in bed. My headboard has this ledge at the top that protrudes and hits me in the back of the head if I sit up and lean my back on it, even if I use a pillow. Any pillows I use are too squishy to keep me from hitting this, but the boppy is firm enough to work. I prop it against the headboard like an upside down horseshoe (with the ends pointing down, the "unlucky" way) :-) and lean my back on the straight-across part at the top. It's heaven! As far as using this for your baby, I used it a lot during feedings with my son, but not so much with my daughter, and neither used it for learning to sit up. My son actually used a short cardboard box for a couple weeks (lined with a blanket) that his physical therapist recommended to us. (He was a preemie and in PT to learn gross motor skills.) The box worked great! Maddie learned to sit up on her own, except the Bumbo seats that day care has might have helped too. We never used any sitting aids at home with her.

I used the both the boppy and the bumbo chair. I don't have a real preference of one over the other as she loves them both still at 13 months! She totally prides herself on climbing and sitting in her bumbo with a toy or snack and will use the boppy to sit and lay on when shes sleepy. I'm pregnant again so I'm sure they'll both get our moneys worth.
