| late period lots of signs but a big fat Negative HPT!! |
Question: I ovulated on the 24 or 25th, I should have recieved AF on the 7th or 8th. I keep taking HPT and they are negative. I have extreme sore/swollen sore breasts, sick, tired and VERY mild cramping,but not even like menes cramping. What should I do, tommorrow I am 4 days late, I have never been this late. I dont even have ANY discharge at all with a cervical check (normally I do 2-3 days before AF) I am so depressed, DH and I have been TTC for 5 months now, what should I do? Has this happened to anybody else and ended up pregnant? ?

| Answer: Hi Mg, i am in the same boat.. I am 2 days late now, but neg test. We have been ttc for a year now. I have hardly any symptoms of af or preg. I dont' know !!
We are trying for our first, so i really don't know how it feels anyway. But I wish I could get a bfp if I am in fact preg !?!?!?!? = |
| Answer: A little research I found interesting :Sometimes a women can think she is late, becouse she may ovulate at a different time then normal. But one thing that does not vary is the luteal phase (the time from ovulation to menes) regardless of a womens cycle length this time frame will always be within 14-16 days (average +/- a day each month), so sometimes a women may think she late, but in reality based off the day she ovulated she probley really isnt late. So back to my situation I know for a fact that I ovulated on the 24th, (normally I would have ovulated on the 5th, so this was early for me.) I had very strong CM signs which dried up a couple days later. We bedded during these times. So I am currently 5-6 days late. My breasts a VERY sore and swollen, I have been sick, tired and starving like crazy. I have been having cramps, but not like menes cramps, they are higher up like a 2 inch band below my belly button all the way around to my back. Today they are not that bad, only if I sit for long periods of time. But I keep getting BFN. I have never been this late before, if I am not pregnant then something is hormonally wrong with me. If I am pregnant I think I implanted 3- 4 days ago. I have heard that some women do not get a BFP until 7-10 days after AF should have arrived. I am going to my MD this week if AF does not start. Funny my MD says that HPT are worthless, she has seen to many women with BFN, who were really BFP. Think about this- a HPT detects HCG levels at t >25 Miu (urine and blood), what happens if your HCG level is 23? It will show a negative, but you are very pregnant. She always orders a HCG quantitative, which gives the true HCG number rather then just a yes or no. (sorry this is so long and technical, I work as scientist for a living) Chas do you know when you ovulated? Let me know, I am going crazy on my end waiting, if I pregnant I just want a BFP if not I just need my AF, but the unknown is killing me! = |
| Answer: mg- i totally agree. i want one or the other. come on af so i can get started in next month ttc or give me the BFP. i too should have oed somewhere around the 24th. i should've started my period this week but nothing. i took a test tuesday BFN and i took one this morning BFN. who knows. let us know what the doc says. | Answer: This wait game is killing me. I really think that I might be pregnant, because I have never felt like this before, not even with PMS. I understand that sometimes a person can want a baby so bad they can fool themselves into thinking they are pregnant, but the way my body is behaving, its hard to believe this is made up. But who knows, I almost dont want to go to the MD, because I afraid to be let down. = |
| Answer: Well as of today I am 5-7 days late (depends on which day I think I ovulated 24th-27th), my MD agrees that I am definally late. My breasts are HUGE, even my skeptical husband cant believe how big they are, I look like a porn star LOL!! I still have VERY mild cramping, sick, and tired. This morning I took a very early pregnancy test, I looked at it after 2minutes, and threw it on the counter. I came back later, and there is a very faint pink line. Yesterday I let a different test same brand sit out for a couple hours and nothing developed. So I dont know what to think, evaporation line, or did I just not see my positive before I set it down. I just dont know. = |
| Answer: MG, wow a scientist exciting! baffling listening to all these stories on how the science in our bodies isnt working! anyhow i am 44 days into my cycle so lets say 14 days late my blood test at 3 days late was negative and even upto tonight my hpt's are negative, i think im PG but i have no idea i'm going nuts so i can feel your frustration im going to get my doc to preform more tests cause im due for another cycle soon! christmas is coming and i need to know for sure cuz well a glass of wine would be nice LOL! a baby would be nicer this is our first chance at conceiving after a m/c and im worried that that has had an impact on my future chances so to let you know theres lots out there like you! you're not alone in your woes and take care! = |
| Answer: mg, i feel your pain. my last af was oct. 11th. i have been so busy i didnt even realize i was that late. i finally took a hpt the day before thanksgiving and it was a big fat - ! i still have no period, i have swollen very tender breasts, very tired, have been so emotional my friends or boyfriend are not talking to me at the moment, i feel so bloated, i cant even fit into my clothes anymore. all of the research i have done says that i should be able to take a hpt nov 7th and get an accurate result, yet on the 23rd it was - . i have done a lot of reading on this post, and a lot of women say they didnt get positive hpts until well into their pregnancies. i have an apointment with my dr on thursday...(two more days and it feels like two years). if you are sure this is unusual for you, make a dr apt. i know it is not the response you are looking for, it wasnt for me either, but thats probably the only thing that will give you the most accurate response! best of luck to you. = |
| Answer: I'm new here, but I read y'alls posts and I'm with ya. I'm only 18 (don't judge me please...i know I young....) and been ttc for about 3months, i just came off the pill in August. My last period started on Nov 2nd. so i should have had AF around the nov30th-dec2nd..still nothing and a negative hpt yesterday. I'm never late. I ovulated around the 20th and did the deed on that day and before and after...so I don't know whats going to the doc. MG, i'm the same as you, affraid to go to the docs and being let down. = |

| Answer: Well I am waiting for my blood test to come back today, so the next hour it will take forever. Funny thing about science, my boss who is a well known researchers around the world says at certain point science just drops off the face of the earth, after that its just luck or faith. | Answer: yes, me too. my last period was on 10th November, so i'm over a week late. it's very frustrating as i have done about 5 tests, all negative. read somewhere that the hcg level doubles every 48hrs so how come i'm still getting neg results and if not pregnant, whrer's my damn period. i'm never this late. lost a baby at 17 wks last year and that was awful. i've just ordered 2 tests that detect hcg at 10 instead of normal 25. if this carries on i'll need to buy shares in home pregnancy tests. it's ridiculous!!! = |
| Answer: I'm in the same boat as jazmyn. My last period ended 10/13. Just took a hpt and it was neg. I've never been on the pill and my cycles have always been normal and I've NEVER been this late. Plus, No Insurance=No Dr. visit. Any ideas anyone? = |
| Answer: jlm548....we are exactly in the same boat! i have no insurance either....but if you have a family planning type clinic/health department they should see you with no charge or a very small fee. that is where i went. unfortunately for me it wanst much help, except that i now know i am healthy so that takes that part of the equation out for me. the preg test they gave me was negative, but my dr still thinks i am pregnant. i just dont have enough hormones to show up on a pregnancy test. she wants me to abstain from sex for two weeks, then come back and retake then. more than likely she said, i conceived right before i was supposed to start my nov cycle, and thats why i am not as far along as i first thought and that may be why i am not testing positive. also the other 'bad' thing about these clinics is they dont do blood tests so it will take us a while to get a more accurate response, my dr also said that these tests are just the same as store bought ones and that the level of hgc has to be relatively high in your urine for them to detect. anyway the only thing any of us can do is hurry up and wait. :-( best of luck to you! = |
| Answer: I was actually 3 weeks PG before my test was poss. I tested on a Monday, thinking for sure I must be PG cause' I was 2 weeks late...NEG then I tested that Fri and Pos!!! Good Luck! = |
| Answer: Well I am only 2 days late but I swear I have felt preg since ovulation. I had two days of light bleeding a week ago but that is it. I want to be preg so bad that after 5 negative tests I am trying to convince myself that its all in my head. I have had heart burn daily, nausea, tired, very sore breasts and my stomach has started to bloat. | Answer: I am glad I am not the only one sitting here frustrated! I am now two days late, and I have ALL the symptoms I had when I was pregnant with my son. I have now taken three HPT and all are a big fat NEGATIVE! With my son, I tested positive two days before my period. I dont know what to think. I am going in for a blood test on Tuesday. | Answer: Hi. I feel so relieved reading all these postings! I'm 10 days late. I've had nausea and fatigue all week. I have an incredibly regular cycle (30 days on the dot)! I've had two doctor's appointments. The doctor at the second appointment was convinced that I was pregnant even with a BFN! I took my fourth home pregnancy test this morning and I thought this was my last chance. I guess I should play the waiting game for a little while longer. | Answer: Hi I am a little over 3 weeks late. I had a quantative test done the 12th and it came back as 1, so neg...i had my gall bladder removed the 19th and they did a qualatative test before they did hte surgery...still neg. they did the surgery and i am still having no period. I am wondering if I'm preg..or if i was before the surgery, would I be now? Would the anastesia have made me lose it? I've had no spotting or anything..or not that I can tell. My husband and I are both blind. So there might have been some blood when I wiped after going to the bathroom, but not sure. So as far as I know, no spotting or anything. Can I still be preg with the neg tests? what should i do? i can't take a home test because neither one of us can read it...so if anyone has any information, please let me know! = |

My period is late...I have symtoms like nausea, dizziness, bloating and the other night I had a sharp pain in my high abdomen, Basically I have every symtom but the sore breats! | Answer: currently cd 41 dpo 20 will test again today. Feel pregnant with symptoms, i ovulated day 21 in my cycle, so that means if i have about a 16 day luteal i would be about 5/6 days late or something.grrrrr..

answer with a quantative test. They are going to check my hormones and thyroid and all that junk. I have an ultrasound in the morning to see if I have a

| Answer: kerrilynn-- i'd wait till your about 8-10 days late i tested 6 times with my daughter and at day 8 it finally came faint pos. i started testing for hpts at day 3 so give it a few days to build up some hcg if you're p/g. good luck- keep us posted

I had a m/c 4 months ago myself.... and I'm 4 days late and my breasts are sore & those type cramps & i'm starving all the time.... HPT's have shown negative... NO signs of AF at all ... usually i get the pink tinge a day or two before.. and i'm like clockwork on time..... so the nurse said if a test doestn' show + by Sunday or I start AF then to come in Mon for a blood test and we'll go from there. = |

ALL of the test have come back neg. I haven't been trying but of course I would be delighted if I was Prego. I just want to know. | Answer: This could be a hormonal blip! You may have been pregnant early in your cycle even and now having a late af...remember it doesnt matter when u were due exactly, it matters when you ovulated.....so you could be not late. I would say to wait 1 week, test again. if it is a bfn the you can assume you are not pregnant, and your cycle is just late....

I'm in a similar boat. My husband and I have been TTC for our first since December. My last period was January 2. It's February 9th and I haven't had any spotting at all. I've taken 4 HPT's and they've all been negative. I almost never have PMS, but I've been very moody and tired lately. My lower back, and the inside of my thighs ache. On two occasions I had sharp pains in my abdomen when I stretched or bent. I'm not sure these symptoms have anything to do with pregnancy, but they are pretty unusual.
On other posts, women could show a false negative as long as 9 weeks! A friend of mine said her sister went without a period and with negative HPT's for 2 months before finding out she was pregnant! = |

| Answer: I am so glad that I finally found this web site. My last period was jan 8. I am now 5 days late. I stopped bc in november. The fist month I was five days late.. bc and all.. the next month was normal and the following month was a day early. Now I'm late. I can't count how many hpt's I've taken. All big fat neg! My doc won't see me until 2 weeks after my 2nd late period. How ridiculous! I've been preg before.. 3 year old daughter.. I didn't find out then until 9 weeks.. first test then. | Answer: Jessica, you and me are in a similar situation, although my breasts have not had any kind of sensitivity. I've been extremely tired lately. I took another HPT today and it was another BFN. Is it standard for doctors to not see you until 10 weeks after you conceive? = |
| Answer: absolutely get a second opinion, 10 weeks is way too long. i'd wait maybe 2 weeks then go back if you still have no period.. long wait but 10 is longer..lol.. take care and good luck = |

| Answer: lara.....what type of situation if you need help I can help you , or try. If you can not go to mom and dad, and insurance is an issue, there should be a planned parenthood or teen pregnancy center near you. You can look online or go to a public library and use their computer if your worried about someone near you finding out. How late is your period and what symptoms are you having? Can you confide in a friends parent that you trust in confidence that they will help you out. ...please ask if you need anything.....megan = |

| Answer: update from earlier!! just done a test[a cheap superdrug brand after spending a fortune on expensive ones!!] and it turns out i am pregnant!! i am so excited!! delighted!! etc... etc... point being is i was so sure when i concieved and was 7 days late without a postive result.It took 7 days to get a positive!! my advise to everyone is don't be stupied like me[well we can't help it we wanta be pregnant!!] and buy tons of tests from 4 days before your periods due. I think what they claim is rubbish,your levels need to build up and its just a money making scheme.If you think your pregnant don't put yourself through all that disapointmen of test after test. wait for a week after your period. One tip i can give from me on whether your pregnant[whilst your waiting for those 7 days] is the taste in your mouth.It just changes.you'll know what i mean.I had it with my two previous pregnancies and thats why i was so sure now. | Answer: Hello! Thank God for this site. All other fertility chats or forums were inactive. I am almost 6 days late right now and have had what feels like the worst PMS ever for almost two weeks! Of course, negative tests! At first I thought I should trust the tests and just figure it was a luteal cyst releasing progesterone making me miserable. Now I think I might actually be pregnant! This is good. ttc first baby with hubby of 4 1/2 years. I guess I will just wait longer, take care of myself and test in a week or so. Hate wasting money on the darned things. Expensive and not so reliable, it turns out! = |
| Answer: I am so frustrated. My last period was January 2nd. I've tried at least 10 HPTs since that time, and every time ALL the time, it's always a BIG FAT NEGATIVE. I'm a little worried at the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy, a tumor, cancer . . . you name it. If I am pregnant, I'd be about 7 weeks along, but I have no symptoms aside from a missing period, frequent urination, and light acne. (I never have acne.) No nausea, no sore breasts, and no confirmation of pregnancy. At this point, I'd be happy to know a verifiable yes or no answer. Good luck to everyone else TTC. = |
| Answer: Well, ladies. Here I am, living proof that HPTs do not work as early on as they claim. I tested again today (now OVER a week late for my period) and got a definite positive. very exciting for us and I hope encouraging to you.
Sabrina, before testing positive, I also noticed acne (a few small blemishes on the middle of my chest and strangely two on the inside of my thigh). I have never had acne in these areas before, just a blemish here or there on my face.
Be encouraged ladies. I really don't think the tests work as reliably as they claim as early as they claim. = |

Well IO had my last period on Jan 21..My hubby and I had sex everynight unprotected for the entire week that ovulation started and then a little after..The only thing that had confused me is that in the CM it had a pink tinge with streaks of red occasionally..it dissappeared after a few days..Now its the 24 and I am offically 3 days late...I am tired, can't fit into a darn piece of my clothing my boobs have grown I swear, and I get that bloody/metally taste in my mouth..The only thing that has thrown me off is I bought those dip sticks and they all said NEG on the day they should have worked and said neg yesterday too..I dunno what to think. | Answer: sarahjoy.... with my first born i test at day 1 being late and got a neg, i tested at 5 days late got a neg i tested 0n 8 days late and got neg i tested the very next day and finally got the pos, so it really just depends on your body and how quickly the hormones rise. It should double every 24 hours so give it about a week so you'll be almost 2 weeks late because you may have miscalculated the ovulation time and could be p/g but not far enough along to register, oh!! and it could depend on how long it took the egg to travel and implant too!.. test again and good-luck , we i think this month are going to try a fertility monitor, kind of expensive but the amount we've spent on tests will hopefully be saved this month..lol take care......megan = |
| Answer: The same thing has happened to me every time I have been pregnant. My period has only been more than 1 day late three times in my life, and each time I was pregnant but had repeated negative HPTs until about six days after the period was due. I think some people just don't produce a lot of hormone right away. I also always had EXTREMELY sore breasts and weird stabby cramping that felt nothing like period cramps and I was starving and tired all the time. = |
| Answer: the waiting to test kills u, so i went and bought the clearblue tests and there were the two lines you are supposed to get then a faint line to make a positive..i did one yesterday then one today and they both did the same, except todays was a tad darker..tempted to go buy another brand to see what that one says..definitely anxious to see what it says. | Answer: Sarah, Meg, and aem, I'm going to wait a little while longer before going to see a doctor. I did a little research and found out that some women do not have any symptoms until weeks 7-9. I don't have any signs of pregnancy aside from a missed period (7 weeks ago) and some slight acne. Hopefully all goes well for you, and good luck making babies (or congrats for having one on the way)! | Answer: well ladies I have done a total of 5 hpts and all postives before the time limit..so safe to say that I am preggers..not to mention I have all of a sudden been hit with the norm symptoms like bathroom breaks every 5 mins, sore boobs, cravings and the bloat that wont go away..I will be wearing maternity clothes way earlier this time around..ughhhh... = |

I have the best results all the time with the walmart brand..I personally say the cheaper the tests the more likely it is to work and u can be sure u are....I have heard that the cheaper brands detect lower levels of hcg too...Clearblue annoyed me cause despite getting + on them they are really light and u doubrt what your seeing so you end up going buying other brands to see if its really true...guess thats how they make their money..Good luck hun..let us know = |

| Answer: Hello Ladies, I am new to this site and I am so happy that I am not the only one. I think I ovulated pretty late ( Feb 19-20th) I am expected to get my period on Feb 26th however, it did not come I did get some brown spotting (only when I wipe) from Feb 24-27. I am getting mild cramps not like what I would get when I get my period and feeling very tired, sore breasts. I tested yesterday and got a BFN I think it might be too early to test since I ovulated very late. Please help let me know what you think...This is my first time TTC I had sex every other day for the entire month of Feb. = |

| Answer: karry.... that brownish discharge for a few days could have been implantation bleeding so if thats the case they say it takes 10 days from ovulation at its earliest to show on a test so give it at least another week and test again .good -luck and take care keep us posted!! Megan = |

| Answer: Hi, I am new to this board as well. Thanks to all of you, I don't feel so alone now. I am three days late with Neg htp's too. My hubby and I have actively been TTC our first since Dec, and I have been very regular 29 days. This past month....as weird as it sounds, I think I O'd twice. CM came two different times, a week apart. I was due on Feb. 26th (3 days past due mensa). Usually I would have begun spotting on the 24th, but have had nothing. I have symptoms such as off and on nausea, cramps......lots of cramps, but not the same as mensa cramps....I am so bloated, and have been really, really tired and constipated. Have taken multiple hpt, only to get NEG every time. I called Doc yesterday. Doc is sending me in for a blood test tomorrow. I know it's unlikely, but I am hoping. = |

I took another pregnancy test after i posted on this forum and i have a very faint vertical line with a darker horizontal line in the results window. I used the piece of crap EPT test. The first test showed no vertical line but a horizontal one. what does that mean? Please help!!

| Answer: I had my last period on jan 30 2006. Im 3 days late and im never late! My husband and I have been trying for our 1st for 5 months. I think i ovu 4 or 5 days before i was to get my period. | Answer: amy.... I hope this sheds some light for you. You said you are 3 days late and that you think you ovulated 4-5 days prior to when it was supposed to come , it takes 10-12 days for a fertilized egg to travel and implant itself so if you think you ovulated on the 4-5 days prior and your 4 days latethat puts you at the day 8 of the cycle, so if you were to be pregnant , or your periods due you wouldnt get it or register a hpt until day 10-12, so hang on 3-4 days, good luck and keep us posted....megan = |

I have a new one for you. I have all the signs of pregnancy. Lets see here, sore breasts, starving, tired, peeing like crazy, I even also have a metallic taste in my mouth, which I have read could be a sign of pregnancy. But, and here is the kicker, during my menes cycle I am expericencing slight bleeding. It is pretty light and only happens in the morning. Every single HPT test I have taken has come out as a BFN. I feel like I am broken and I would like to know what is wrong with me if I am not pregnant. I am TTC. The "morning menes" as I now call it has happened for 2 months. The last time I ttc was in January during my oc. I was not feeling very well in march to even consider TTC. So I guess I get a little sick as well, but I am not sure if that is from the metallic taste in my mouth or what. I do not see my doc until April. Anyone out there got any suggestions?? = |
| Answer: Hi Ladies, I definately know what you are all going through. I have a son who is 2 now, but when I was pregnant I didnt know for 6 weeks. No word of a lie, I took 10 pregnancy tets, a blood test and a enternal and always NEGATIVE. One night I was having massive cramps so I was rushed to the hospital....took blood test and bingo it was postive. My doctor is still amazed that I went through all thos tests and it was always negative, but I was 6 weeks! Now we are tring for our second, and nothing. So my doctor put me on clomid....I was suppose to get my period March 2nd, but nothing. Took a test and its negative...we have been trying for 10 months. Hopefully we'll have a baby soon. | Answer: Tanya........I can relate march will be our 7th month of trying to conceive(ttc), with no luck, what is clomid ? but mind you after my miscarriage in oct it seems like im just getting back on track now. so im curious to know if clomid is an infertility drug and are there chances of multiples if used? This month we had 100mg clomid, progesterone level on cd 21=31.6, i currently have multiple pg signs such as sore nipples, elevated bbt, acne, extreme fatigue, and constipation. | Answer: is anyone on Femara in this forum and experienced a late period? my friend who was on Femara had a shortened period, not a longer one. My cycles have always been 26 days like clock work and I am on day 27 with no period. I feel like I am getting my period but there is notta, nothing, no signs, no spots, nothing. I have never been a 28 day girl- always 24 or 25 day cycles but on Femara, the last 3 cycles, 26 days. If I am pregant, why would the early pregancy test say I wasn't on Day 25? agh!!!!! = |
| Answer: Hi Megan, I guess you can say that clomid is like a fertility drug. There is a higher risk for women having multiple births while using clomid! IM not complaining :-) More babies to love. Im knew to this web sit but what does ttc mean??? Megan do you have any kids now??? I got pregnant really fast, I was on birth control for 5 years, got off it, waited 3 months and got pregnant right away. This is why I dont understand why its taking so long to get pregnant again. = |
| Answer: Tanya....(ttc) is trying to conceive. Yes we have one 2 year old and I pg while using bc, I was never more than 2-3 days late and then when i was 8 days late we started testing and finally after the 5 th test it came up pos. Then we fell pg again when she was almost 2 , we miscarried and have been ttc since its been 7 mos and dont know why its taking so long either. The docs are telling us because we have one already that we are fertile and to hold on and keep trying. but after the miscarriage and not being successful im curious to know if something is wrong? we'll find out in a couple of weeks if we were successful this time around. my body doesnt give me any signals of ovulation and ive ranged from being 3 weeks to 6 weeks late and still bfn's, so we'll try,try again I guess. good - luck to you and thank-you keep us posted........Megan = |
