It won't matter if ever person in your BF's side is a twin. Fraternal twins have to come from your side since you have to have inherited the gene to make you ovulate more eggs during a single cycle. There is no upping a chance of identical twins. Everyone has the same chance which is 1 in 250 births. Sorry for your loss.

samehere is right about it having to come from the mothers side. My best friend is a doctor & as I was curious myself about twins I asked her. Having fraternal twins is only carried in the female gene so your bf can pass it on to your daughter (should you have one) & she can pass it on to her children, but it will still only affect the girls. Unfortunately it won't make a difference as to whether or not you conceive twins as he can't make you ovulate twice. Also identical twins are not considered hereditary as an ovum is not meant to split into 2 separate babies & in the medical world identical twining is considered a freak of nature, so to speak (not trying to be offensive to anyone). There are medical ways to increase your chances of multiples but it has its risks so talk to your doctor for all your options & the pros & cons. I am very sorry for your loss & hope you have a healthy baby soon.
