i never planned to breast feed i just couldnt stand the thought of it, but then when my son was about 4 days old my milk leaked and it just there and then made me want to breast feed. so i started to breast feed but still partly kept on the bottle. but now my son is 8 weeks and suddenly refuses to take the breast any more. it might be because i changed his milk from sma gold to the white one because the gold one didn't seem to be feeding him. im keeping my milk going because i really want him to go back on the breast, it apparently happened to my friend and now he feeds fine. i told my hv but she said im the only person she has ever known to start breast feed late and do it with formula too so im lucky it lasted this long so i probably should just give up, can people please give me there opinions and exsperiences this is really upsetting me

I am sort of in the same shoes. My daughter is about 11 weeks old and she is refusing to breastfeed except on one side. It is upsetting me terribly because she has only had bottles at night in the NICU for 9 days-- that's it. I am fighting her though. I just keep offering her breast, refuse to give her a bottle and she gets hungry and eats. Once a baby starts breastfeeding it should continue. My lactation consultant said some babies go on "breast strike" because of a change in circumstances or if they want you to spend more one-on-one time with them so maybe try spending extra time talking to and cuddling your little one and see if it helps. If not, contact a lactation consultant in your area (lelecheleague.com) and they can give you some tips. Definitely don't give it up-- it's too precious!!

Ditto - seek help if you want to continue - a lactation consultant can give you tips (and encouragement) to help you succeed!
