Question: I had a negative home pregnancy test, so I asked my doctor to do a blood pregnancy test- this also came out negative.... but when I went into a urgent care center a week ago there was a heartbeat. What do I do? ?

Answer: Bree - If a heartbeat was heard then you are pregnant. You need to call your GYNO up again & tell him about the heartbeat & let him know in no ncertain terms that urine & blood pregnancy tests can be wrong. If he still refuses to see you let him know, if the pregnancy proves to be correct (which it probably will), that you are going to sue his arse & let everyone you know, including the papers know, that hes a quack & an unrelaible & uncaring doctor.This will get his attention. Sometimes you do have to be a bit forceful. If he still refuses, write a letter to the medical burea or hospital & tell them everything thats happened. Yes, it is very possible to get a neg blood test and a pos urine test, because it happened to me. i took 3 different HPTs 4 days ago, and they all came up BFP...I went to the doctor's office and they gave me their urine test and that came back negative...it's supposedly more sensitive than the HPTs, but that's a different story...anyway, today I went back for a nother urine test at the doctor's office, because last nite, i took 3 more HPTs from 3 different companies, and they all came back positive. well, that doctor's office urine test came back BFN, but the blood test came back "WEAK POSITIVE" being the obsessive tester that I am, i bought another HPT and that one came back BFP, so i'm thinking that maybe i miscalculated my O day...maybe you don't have enough HCG in your system...some doctor's tests are so wacko... =

Answer: Did they tell you who heartbeat it was, because they heard a heartbeat for me too, but said it was mine. It seems fast to me but they say it was not fast enought to be a baby heartbeat. =
Answer: Don't be too quick to trust those HPTs and blood tests! All my HPTs said negative even after I was due to start my period. A blood test 1 1/2 weeks after implantation came back negative, too. My doctor insisted I wasn't PG and was about to start me on fertility drugs this month. On a whim, I decided to take an HPT the other day-100% expecting it to be negative. But to my surprise got a positive! I'm five weeks along and didn't even know it! Trust your instincts and what your body is telling you! You know your body better than any test or doctor does. Answer: K, it sounds like your PG. Your hCG level was probably too low to detect in the blood test. Wait at least another week or so and try an HPT. I had cramping from week one and sore nipples at week three. Good luck! =

So, I was supposed to start my period Jan. 15th, but it hasn't started yet. I have had all the symptoms of being PG, especially my suddenly protruding belly and headaches. Answer: hey liam. i have heard from my mom and a friend who just had a kid.. that nursing messes with your hormones still. and periods often aren't regular after having your kid. especially while nursing. so your six days late now.... do pregnancy test usually work for you?? =

Answer: Wow, almost all your stories are like mine. 2 weeks late, and my periods have always been like BAM, very heavy, start right with my cramps, well I didnt start it with the cramps I started getting light spotting, I looked up some stuff that said it could be due to "implantation bleeding" So i took some tests they all came back negative, I also went to my doctor and they did a urine test, negative. Answer: yeah i did that weird pink spotting bleeding last month before i started. it had never happened to me, it was so weird. my sister just had that to, but it actually meant a tubial pregnancy and she miscarried. sometimes it can mean that too. anyways girl i guess i won't come back here untill the next time something weird happens. i started my period last night at 10 pm. almost 1 month late. not sure whats going on. it is now 5 in the morning on saturday. i am up cause its so heavy and so painful i couldn't sleep. but my mind is at ease atleast. no more confusion. =

Answer: Hi karaNdutt, well, never say you are infertile until you haave the testing done. My sister has gone on for like 7 years thinking she was but when she had the testing it says she is not. Maybe just the man's issues, maybe because you are worrying to much, or maybe because it is just not the right time. For whatever reason, never think the worst until you know for sure. Anyway, I beleive with all my heart that I had another miscarriage. I go to speak further with the doctor friday because of some problems I am having. My period this month came alittle earlier but was more "normal". My last one was not normal at all. Very clotty and came spotty first then got bright and clotty etc. Mine usually just comes right on, not spotty. ANd I had more back pain and stomach pain like my other miscarriages but strangely not as bad, maybe because I was not as far along. Anyway, they don't want to believe it because of the fact I had 2 less than 5 quantitative tests but before I began bleeding my qualitative tests were inconclusive. I just think that my levels were way to low to begin with and that is why it was inconclusive so when I miscarried, it went down fast. Just think, if it sarted at like a 6 or something which would be inconclusive, and I miscarried it could have went down to less than five in a day. Well, that is my story. =

I don't have an answer for you, but I am in the same boat! I am 2 weeks late in my period. My urine tests (4 times) and blodd test (1 time) has been negative. I have all the symptoms of being pregnant. If I am pregnant, conception occured on Feb. 12th. I had spotting on Feb 17th. It lasted for a few days.
I will be seeing my Dr again on Mon. Mar 10th.

Today I had an appointment with my fertility Dr.
According to her, my ovaries are drying out. (I am 40). She did not think it was necessary to do another pregnancy test. She did recommend some test to confirm if my overies are drying out or not.
She thinks what I thought off as spotting was actually my period that came early.
She dismissed my symptoms saying it is all in my mind.
As far as I am concerned I am pregnant till I get my period. I had been doing an ovulation test and they have been negative.
If what said is right, then I should be getting my period soon.

Answer: My Dr. called today. She basically said my blood test results from yesterday's test indicate I have ovulated in past 12 days or so.
Which means I should be getting my period any time from now. If what she says is true and what I say on Feb, 12th was indeed my period and not spotting, then my period should start tomorrow. Will keep posting until I get my period.

Answer: Wow...ladies, I completely understand what you're going through. My last 3 periods have been regular, but only 1 day or so long. I've had a lot of pregnancy symptoms that I have never had before. I've been to 3 different OBGYN's and finally found one that is listening to me! So my first piece of advice, is to find a good doctor, it's worth the search. She is an MD, but also uses alternative medicine, which means she's open minded. Anyhow, she put me on biodentical hormone creams which I started the first day of my last period February 10th. I ended up being hospitalized for anxiety reasons and being put on medication. That doc says the meds shouldn't affect the hormone creams or my cycle. So now I'm 10 days late and 3 negative POA's in the hole. I'm going to wait 2 week and get a blood test. I'm nervous because the meds that I'm on shouldn't be taken during the first trimester, but I need them to balance me out, so I don't want to stop for no reason. With all of the doc visits in the past 4 months and everything else, my husband thinks it's all in my head. Baby dust to all of you and if it's meant to be it will be. Just remember not to stress about anything we can't control, take care of your body and be happy. It will happen if it's meant to happen! =

Okay my period is currently 10 days late. I have taken about 12 hpts and all of them have come out negative. I then went to planned parenthood to get a blood test done and it was negative. However there blood test is the stick it in the machine for 10 min to shake, and it prints out a postive or negative on a piece of paper. (The reason I had to go to planned parenthood is because my doctor said told me at his office blood tests are only for girls who have had/or having a miscarraige.) I figured after the blood test I would start soon after thinking maybe its just stress. But its been 3 more days and still nothing! I told my doctor all the symptoms I have been having (nauseous, exhausted ALL the time, frequent urination, minor cramp feelings around ovarys, minor back aches, headaches) He said it sounds like a UTI and to come back in 3 weeks for another urine test.
Could I still be pregnant???

Answer: I have to say that if you have had a blood test that was negative, you are not pregnant. It would pickup any small amount of hcg- It sounds like there is something else going on and you all shouls get ahold of your doctors and get checked to see what is causing the symptoms. If they feel it is a uti, then you most certainly should not wait, if they will not see you, go to a different doctor. Good luck. =

I know for sure that it can happen because i have a little sister and for 4 months m y mom had neg urine and blood tests. it wasn't until they did a ful pelvic that they belived her. and i have 2 friends that were almost the same with a couple of there kids. Answer: Well like many of you; I am sitting here in the same boat. Although I would love to be pg, my dh would like to wait. Good news is that he has slowly been letting his guard down. He had been using the "pulling out" method for almost a year now but for the last couple of months has been ejaculating inside once a month =). Last time he did that was 5 days before my period was due (April 8th). Well... as of now I am late for the first time EVER..12 days to be exact! I have a 31 day cycle and have gotten my period every 30-31 days to the day. I don't ever experience cramping before or during my period but this time, I cramped a day or so before my period was due as well as for a few days after. Basically I cramped for about 4 days (the average length of my periods). Noe my left breast is extremely tender and my right one is slightly, lower back discomfort, a loss of appetite, sore abdomen, and the feeling of having loads of discharge but only a ends up being a little (looks like egg whites) and a little weight gain around my waistline. I have taken HPT upon HPT and all come back neg, even a blood test the doc did came up neg, which was performed on the 15th. I still have the feeling of "about to get my period" but still nothing!! Is there a possibility the pregnancy tests were done too early, including the blood test? I am curious to know if any one of you has heard or experienced anything similar to this but resulted in being pregnant. Thank you all for helping! =

But, I still haven't gotten my period and have many pregnancy symptoms - sore and HUGE breasts, some cramping that's much more mild than my menstrual cramps, nausea, etc. I just feel slightly lost about what to do now, but it's been very comforting to read about your experiences. Thank you for sharing :) I think I'm just going to try to take it easy and maybe test again in a few days if my period doesn't show up. Answer: This is for littletibbs and everyone else out there! Let me start by saying that just because you get a neg HPT (I had 5) and even a neg blood test... THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU AREN'T PREGNANT!!!!! And for anyone who disagrees.... come show me because I AM PREGNANT!!! There is a possibility you tested too soon, even for a blood test, as was my case because now, 7 days after my neg blood test results I am now getting positive results. I just new I was pregnant regardless of what the neg tests showed... the sore breasts, sore stomach, slight cramping. So I went and bought a HPT after work on the 22nd and yup, it said pregnant. Of course just to make sure... I went and bought 2 other tests and took them at different times and yup, still pregnant. Went to the doctor yesterday and of course they confirmed it too. So to everyone out there that was relentless in confirming your suspicions about being pregnant... don't give up hope. Wait another week and test again!! Good luck!!! =) =

I am 24 years old and should have gotten my period on April 24th, 2008. As of today, May 19th, I've had about 9 negative HPT and 2 negative blood tests. I'm now 24 days late. I had sex with my husband the first day I was late (4/25/08) and didn't use any type of BC. I had an ultrasound about 2 weeks ago to check for cysts, everything was fine. I also had a blood test for my thyroid, everything was fine. Is it possible I got pregnant from that one day and it was enough to cause me to miss my period. I have been nauseous for almost 24 hours straight and haven't thrown up, my nipples are sore and I kept feeling like I was getting my period and had cramps, but only a cloudy discharge.

I've been pregnant six times, this would be seven so it's not like I'm not familiar with the symptoms. But I am prone to miscarriage and only have two children in all those pregnancies. I should have started on May 1st. It's obviously now May 20 and still no period. I have taken seven stick tests and a blood test and all were negative. Which is fine but doesn't account for all the symptoms. I have actually gotten negative blood test twice before when I actually was pregnant. I'm a little concerned that I have a serious problem if I'm not pregnant. On the exact day I would have had my period I had vague spotting and that hideous pelvic floor pressure that I always get when pregnant right around the implantation time. I'm at a loss. I thought I was the only one seemingly incapable of getting a positive pregnancy test. I appreciate that other people are in the same boat. Clindholm, I appreciate what you're saying but one of my pregnancies, unfortunately one that I lost, I got a positive stick test so I went in and had a blood test (required on base to get an appointment) and it was negative. I took another a week later and it was positive. So blood tests aren't always more sensitive or the standards of the lab techs may be higher than the average as far as numbers go.

Answer: Hello all, like many of you I have found this forum and all of your posts very useful. I have not been trying to get pregnant. I am 28 years old and in fact only had sex for the first time three weeks ago. We used the pull out method as a form of birth control but were both pretty drunk at the time. Now I am about 6-9 days late for my period which is usually like clockwork. I have had four negative pregnancy tests however and so I wonder if the 99% accuracy that tests claim to have is really false. From reading everything here it sounds like it could be. I have not had a lot of symptoms associated with pregnancy other than some weight gain and breast tenderness like I am about to start my period. I have also experienced some cramping which is not something I have ever had associated with my period. I guess I will just keep taking tests for now and go get a blood test if I don't get my period soon. I just think it is highly ironic for me to skip a period right now considering my circumstances. My stories a bit different but here I go... On march 3-7 I spent a week in holiday with my fiancée (at the time) and well we hadn't seen each other in 2 months and I guess that you can put the rest together... We didn't use any form of BC and he probably ejaculated in me at least 10 times over the trip,,,
Anyways on the 7th when I got home I had odd spotting (2 weeks early) that lasted overnight and was light. Then two weeks after that on March 23rd I had my period, it was normal flow but it only lasted 2 days. Around this time I started feeling pukie, had headaches, moody, and my breasts were a bit puffy...I was really stessed at this point because we had broken up... I was semi worried so on April 9th I took a at home test... Negative... Just to calm my nerves I made a Dr appointment and on April 14th, again negative.I took it as "ok, not pregnant" and wrote it off...
Now is where it gets interesting...
The pukieness continued for 2 weeks until mid-late April, along with the other symptoms, then I got my period on April 27th. It was really light and short but again I just wrote it off because of the negative tests... Well, May came and by mid May I had to buy all bigger bras, I've gone from a B to a C. My breasts have been a B since grade 7... Plus they are now tight in a C and they're getting bigger. There not sore or anything... Other then the breasts I've been moody and sleepy and hungrier... So then May 18th rolls around and no period... exactly a week later I started but it was REALLY LIGHT and almost nothing... Lasted 2 days... So, this it where I sit, possibly 12 weeks pregnant...
My questions are:
Could I have tested to early?
If I am pregnant I would be 12 weeks, would I have more symptoms?
Has anyone else breasts grown like crazy?
Anything else you can think of. =
Answer: Hey guy's here's my story (JUNE 3RD)... Okay, April 19th and April 30th... I had unprotected sex... (I know dumb idea)... 6 days later, I start my period, which was earlier (usually 1st or 2nd of each month)... It lasted about only a couple of days and was different from my usual flows... Ne ways, about maybe a little over a month (guess 1 month and 8 days) later, I took a pregger's test at home, it came up slightly positive (faded)... So I made an appointment at the health clinic, at this time I was experiancing my early period (more like spotting)... The nurse said it was impossible because I was bleeding, she took a blood test anyways, and it said negative... But I am still for about 2 weeks have been getting pregger symptoms... Sore breasts, changes in moods, change in color of my areolas, food cravings, (I eat like a cow right now), nausea, exc... Ne suggestions on rather I took the tests to soon or could they be wrong, I have a very big concern because everyone around me has all said that I'm defenitly pregnant, but I would have to wait until like 2 months pregger's for the signs to appear or give my hcg levels time to adjust... So yeah, ne advice or what not, cause I'm really scared, confused, exc.. Hoping I didn't misscarry or anything. =
Answer: I have a similar situation but could use some help. My last period began April 24th. When I was supposed to start again on May 19th but all I got was some pink fluid..little bit of spotting as well. I have had very mild cramping since but nothing more. I have had 4 negative HPT's each taken atleast 3 days apart. I haven't experienced any pregnancy symptoms other than eating alot, but I do that from time to time. So, I can't figure out what's going on. With my other three pregnancies they have shown positive right away. Any suggestions? =
Answer: It is so hard to wait for the weeks to go by. It has been 18 days since my last period. I have had 6 neg hpt and one neg hcg blood test. I am 29 years old and have never been late before. We have been trying for 1 1/2 years. I have had some mild cramping off and on and my nipples are very tender. Some days my breasts are tender and other days not. I dont know if it is all in my head or if I am actually prego. My Dr said to just wait and see if I start. Isn't there something else they can do to try and see? I guess it would not show up on an Ultrasound yet? I would be 6 weeks prego if I am. Or is it all in my head? =
Answer: I'm SO happy I came across this forum..it's nice to know I'm not alone =) Ok well my situation is this: I had sex on May 5th this year and was VERY careful about it. And this was 2 days before my period started. I had a very heavy but short flow so I didn't worry about pregnancy. May 8th was the last day of my period and now here I am almost 20 days late. I thought I might be pregnant because my cousins have all had periods while preg so I took a few HPTs all neg. But my period still hadn't come so I went and got a blood test...still neg. That was a week ago and I still haven't started. False negatives happened to 3 of my cousins so does that run in the family? I just want to be safe if I am preg because I've never been this late before or felt this way my boobs are sore, I get nauseous almost every day, I can't stand certain smells anymore like my favorite shampoo or chicken which I love. Also I've been peeing like crazy, very tired getting dizzy and bloated. Not sure what to do anymore or what to think. I just want to know if I am. Kind of hoping yes I've always wanted to be a mom but I know the father of the baby doesn't want kids and we're not even together. Answer: DO NOT!!!! let them put you on tablets to make you ovulate. My doc did this and I lost my baby because of it. Make sure check check and check again. I had a miscarage and went to see if it would be ok to start trying again because the last preg was 17 weeks along with twins and I got very run down. I wanted to make sure I was ok to get preg again. He told me I wasn't ovulating and put me on a drug to make me ovualte and come back in a week to see. I went back in the week like he asked after taking the drug and he said I was seven weeks preg. I lost the baby 2 weeks later. So be sure you aren't. Sorry to be so forward. Don;t mean to be neg. Just be sure. I trusted a professional and it cost me my baby =
