i had preeclampsia with my first child and i was wondering if that means i will also have it with this child. anyone have any advice on how i can prevent it? i cant afford to be on bedrest when i have a toddler running around ↓
I had it as well and my doctor said there is only about a 3% chance of recurrance with subsequesnt pregnancies. Hope this helps, I also can's afford to be on bedrest, I need my paycheck! Good luck. ↑

Hi there. I have 4 kids and had preeclampsia with my first 2. With my first it was severe, with my second moderate. I saw a high risk/fetal medicine dr to have my 2nd, 3rd and 4th to prevent the preeclampsia. That is his speciality and he was awesome. He fully believes preeclampsia originates due to a placental issue. At 12 and 16 week he had me take the serum screenings and specifically looks at your readings, mostly the PAPP-A score. Secondly, there are specific ultrasounds to check your uterine artery flow. At 16 weeks with my second he predicted I would get it again, and sure enough at 36 weeks it reared its ugly head. Much later though than the first time at 24 weeks. then with my 3rd and 4th we did all the same testing and nothing abnormal showed and all was good. With my second when this showed he started me on some aspirin therapies and there are also heparin studies that can be followed with a fetal med specialist. I was told different than the above poster in that if you have had it once before you have a 25% chance of having it again, but usually in a milder form. the 3% is the original chance of getting it in the first place for the first time. Best of luck. ↑
thank you for your replies. do you think i should see a high risk dr? they induced me with my first because i let them do an amio and there was no fluid and i dont want that to happen again bc im not letting them do an amio this time ↑
