Alright, I am going to ask the question and it may be dumb. How do you know when you ovulate? I am reading all of these stories and everyone is saying they ovulated on this day or that day. How do you really know? My husband and I are starting clomid next month since we having been trying for over a year and have had no success. My periods are so irregular, sometimes 50 days that I really dont know when I'm ovulating. Help? ↑
Alicia, The best way I found was by using the over the counter ovulation predictors. You can buy them pretty much everywhere. Ebay sells them pretty cheaply though. If you are on fertility drugs, it is difficult sometimes to tell when you are ovulating if you use the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor and it's expensive anyway. Just buy the sticks that you use just like a home pregnancy test and it will let you know if you will ovulate in the next day or two. Good luck! ↑
Alicia, I forgot to say that for a normal cycle, most women ovulate on day 14 or so. If your cycle is longer, it is approximately 14 days before your period would be due. With Clomid's help, I always ovulated later - day 19 or 20 of my cyle. That's where the ovulation prediction sticks came in handy. ↑
i was on clomid for 1 mo. and it worked the first time. i had 3 eggs release and tomorrow i find out if im having twins or triplets. i started having symptoms of sickess all day long, tired, and crying for no reason before i tested positive. i must have been about 3 weeks. i also had really bad cramping and sharp pains. i look pretty big now but i'm only 8 weeks. good luck ↑
~Hello~ I am on my seventh day on provera and I have no idea what to expect. I am suppose to take clomid on days 5-9. What should I expect to happen. Is there bad side effects? Is there a higher chance of multiples. My doctor didn't tell me anything. ↑
Hi! This is my first month on Clomid after trying for 2 years to get pregnant naturally. I have been feeling very strange and want your advice. I am on day 29 of my cycle and have spotted very lightly when I usually start with heavy periods. I have also been getting the abdominal pains. Is this a sign that Clomid is working?? ↑
Hey I did not concieve on Cloimd however I am having twins and in the begiining I new it was a twin pregnancy. I had major weight gain right away and my abdomen hurt from the beginning because of my uterus stretching. I did not find out unitl my first ultrasound at 18 weeks but I always say go with your gut feeling. ↑
Jennifer,
Your period should come soon. It usually comes seven to ten days after the first day of provera. Then you will take the clomid on days 5-9. Start testing for ovulation around days 11-16. Some people ovulate a little later, so don't give up. Is your doctor monitoring you ex. bloodwork, sono?
Well good luck ↑
I too am taking clomid. Just finished my 3rd cycle this past Friday my level went from 13 two months ago to 38 this past month. So i am hopeful that it will work and i will be "with child" soon! Best wishes to all. ↑
I too was on Clomid and am now 11 weeks pregnant with twins. I have several friends on Clomid but they only had singletons. I have had some cramping too but my dr. said it's the uterus growing. She said if the pain is so bad you can't stand up and you have heavy bleeding there's a problem but otherwise it's fine. ↑
I was on Clomid for two mths. I took two hpt on days 23 & 28 w/an early detection pregnancy test & they both came back neg. I was having many symptoms of being pregnant so I called my doc & had a blood test done. Much to my suprise & my husbandswe are pregnant. We are 5 wks! Clomid works... don't give up! We are soo excited & I can't wait till Dec gets here! ↑
Hey Soni, my doctor told me the earliest time you can test to get an accurate reading is a day or two before your missed cycle. He also said the odds for multiples only increase about 5% or so. I figured it was worth the chance. I miscarried on March 18, 2005 at 8 weeks and now am on my first batch of Clomid since then start ovulating tomorrow and hoping for the best. Best of luck to all you ladies it is nice to know we are not alone. ↑
Can anyone please help me with a doubt I have. This is my second month on Clomid. The first month I had all the symptoms (ovary pains, mood swings, etc). However, this second month I have not had any symptoms. Is this normal? Any info. would be greatly appreciated. ↑
Hey Angie I have taken Clomid several times and never had a great deal of symptoms after the first month. I think you tolerate it better the second month. All I had the second month was some achiness in my back and sides but nothing significant. Hope this helps. Best of luck I just finished my first round since my miscarriage and hoping for the best. here's to pitter patters of little feet to us all. ↑
Hi girls - listening to your stories has been heartwarming & heartbreaking at the same (so sorry for those of you who keep having miscariages). 9 months ago i miscaried and it was the worst point of my life, since then my periods have been totally irregular - i haven't had one for three months now. Today i get the test results to confim polycistic ovary. in doing my on research I have heard so much about clomid and the chances of pregency related to it, but my doctor is not so keen???? I am sure to get a second opinion on treatment once the results are confirmed, but what are your opinions, and what can i do to help, all I can do is pray and pray to become pregnant, but now thats not enough (today is bad day, some days are better). All your stories have helped me so much, and you are all so strong! thank you. ↑
Hi Tara, I have PCOS and endometriosis. I had surgery in December for the endometriosis and got pregnant on Feb 1. I miscarried March 18. I take Glucophage 500mg twice a day and Cloimd 50mg on days 3-7. I also take Provera 10mg for ten days if my cycle is late. I would not have conceived without the Clomid. So if it were me I would go for it even if I had to change doctors. This is my big ovulation week so I hope for a big positive the end of the month. Best of luck and lots of prayers for you. ↑
The biggest indicator that I was pregnant after taking Clomid... Big, soar, sensitive breasts. This happened as early as 5 days post ovulation for both my singleton and currently twin pregnancies. Good Luck! ↑
I just got done taking a 10 day cycle of provera to start my period. It has been 2 days now and I have not started. Just wondering how long it takes to start. I am then supposed to be on clomid for days 2-6. What are supposed to be the days that you ovulate and the best days to try and get pregnant? Can anyone help? ↑
I tried clomid/metformin in Aug. 2002 and got pregnant with my son on the first try. We tried the combination again in November 2004 and nothing happened. I started researching some thing on the internet that were all natural so we could give the clomid a rest for awhile. I have PCOS. I HAVE FOUND 2 WONDERFUL PRODUCTS!! THE FIRST IS FERTILITY BLEND I HAVE BEEN TAKING IT FOR A MONTH AND I HAD NOT HAD A PERIOD SINCE FEB.2005, I GOT MY PERIOD YESTERDAY! I STARTED TAKING FERTILITY BLEND THE SECOND WEEK IN APRIL. FB HAS A VERY HIGH SUCCESS RATE OF COUPLES TRYING TO CONCEIVE, WE MIGHT GET PREGNANT THIS CYCLE, I SURE HOPE SO!! The other is the PRESEED Sperm Friendly moisturizer lubricant, it gives you that extra moisture you need to help the little spermies in their long swim, it feels great and so natural! You can also purchase Fertility blend for Men if you suspect your mate might have a low sperm count. My husband is also taking the FB for men. ↑
Here is my situation; I had a HSG done on April11; they decided to do it even though my period wasn't on because you are supposed to get it done after day 5-6 during your cycle to make sure you aren't preg. Well I got a blood preg. test and it was neg. so they did the HSG, everything was normal. So, after the test I spotted for 3 days like I was told would happen after the procedure. But on day April 14 I started my period it lasted 9 days and I spotted for 3 days after that. ↑
Now for the month of May my period was supposed to come on on May 15th; but since May 11th I've been spotting the darkest being light red, but right now it seems to be going of completly it is really light and only when I wipe. So, should I call this a period? I have no cramps but my breasts are kind of swollen and they hurt. Can anyone give me some advice? ↑
Hi Fiona
I was on clomid with my first baby and everything went fine! He is 10 months old now and I just found out I am having twins ( and I was on 50 mg of Clomid) I am 9 weeks now and in the same boat as you-terrifying of miscarrying. My thoughts are if you are having those pregnancy symptoms, the pregnancy is fine. The morning sickness and the sore boobs might be annoying, but they are a great sign that the pregnancy is healthy! ↑
Hi! I've been reading the posts on this site for the last couple of weeks. So many happy and sad emotions. I'm sorry for those of you who have lost, and congratulations to the many new family additions!
I just had my first round of clomid (my doctor put me on 100mg starting days 3-7). I went yesterday for a check-up (day 12) and she found there is a 4 cm cyst on my right ovary (I wondered, because I could feel some pain). So now I'm off the Clomid for the next cycle. My question is, have others experienced such cysts due to Clomid, and are you able to conceive with a cyst. The OBGYN said that I could possibly still ovulate, but it wasn't very likely. I've been using the predictor kits and my LH levels were up yesterday, so now I'm watching my temperature to see what happens. Making a baby shouldn't be so complicated! Thanks! :o) ↑
I conceived my daughter with Clomid, 3 cycles at 100 mg. I have a very healthy baby girl born at 38w5d at 8lbs 5oz. No problems at all. I have a 3 year old son that I conceived naturally. I had less trouble with my pregnancy with my daughter than with my son. I am a firm believer in Clomid and will probably do it again because we would like to have one more :) Just make sure that your dr. monitors you closely. ↑
I just found out that I'm pregnant after having taken clomid for only 1 month. I'm 25, and have an 9 month old son. My first pregnancy I bled at 18 weeks due to a blood clot, I was horrified, thinking that I was loosing the baby. My Dr said that bleeding is actually fairly common during pregnancy. Good Luck!! ↑
I had a miscarriage in July 04 and another one in December 04. Since my second miscarriage 5 months ago, I have had one period. For some reason we can't get my period started. I have tried Prometrium. Should I get on clomid? I know clomid triggers ovulation, but will it also help regulate my period? This has been the longest year of my life, and I need to get pregnant so badly!!! HELP! ↑
Leslie, Clomid helps 'bring on' periods because of the ovulation it should cause. Typically, you have a period because you have ovulated, and the egg did not become fertilized. My doctor prescribed progesteron pills for me (daphaston) to help induce my period (but these pills do NOT cause ovulation), and then I took the clomid. I don't know yet if I ovulated, although my LH was detected on the ovulation predictor kit, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. (The clomid did cause a cyst though.) My suggestion would be to talk with your doctor. I wish you all the best! ↑
