please INSIST ON DOUBLE LAYER SUTURING OF YOUR UTERUS! single layer is only done to save time and money in the OR it could save you a lot of pain and possibly your life. ive done alot of research and i found good info on it in ina mays guide to childbirth, simple easy to read and to the point. single layer puts your future pregnancies at risk for everything from abruptio placenta and bowel adhesions that could cause sepsis and kill you, please DEMAND DOUBLE LAYER!!

Thank you so much for pointing this very overlooked detail out. I'm 21 weeks pregnant with #2 and just found out that my 1st c-sect over 3 years ago was a single layer sutur. In the last week or so I've had very bad pain where my old scar is and my new doc is concerned about my uterus rupturing early. I'm really quite scared (and angry). I was also hoping to try for a vbac this time, but that may not be wise given the added risk. I also know that I already have a lot of scar tissue. If only I had known then what I know now!
