I am 10 weeks pregnant and I am already having tailbone pain. My OB said its too early to have this kind of pain for pregnency and wanted me to go to orthopedics. I want to wait few days. Any suggestions? or recommendations? ↓

I had this pain when I was about 10 weeks pregnant. I wasn't sure what it was, it freakin HURT! I would feel it everytime I sat up, rolled over in bed, getting up out of bed and sometimes walking. I'm not sure if it was actually my tailbone, although the pain seemed to come from that area. I thought maybe I pulled my muscles at teh gym and had my bf massage my butt...but when I brought this up to my doc, she said it was most likely due to my ligements stretching. If this is what your feeling, it may last for a little while, but it'll begin to ease off. ↑

I had it with my first and then I think I broke my tailbone to top it off during delivery. I am 8 weeks and it is hurting enough that I cannot sit up straight in a chair. I am a little nervous for the upcoming months. I used a donut pillow (from the OB) it helps a bit. ↑

I am only 7 weeks pregnant and I have this horrible pain in my tailbone and I would almost say its in part of my behind. It kills to roll over in bed, get out of bed, bend over and now walking. I have tried heating pads which have done nothing. I thought I was way to early in a pregnancy to feel anything like this but it sucks. ↑

I AM 12 WEEKS PREGNANT AND AROUND 6 WEEKS I WAS FEELING THIS, THOUGHT IT WAS FROM FLYING ON A PLANE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR, I ASKED MY DOCTOR THE OTHER DAY AND HE SAYS IT IS NORMAL. I THOUGHT IT WAS TOO EARLY TOO. YES, I HURT IN THE TAILBONE AREA AND ESPECIALLY WHEN I WALK AND I WALK AN HOUR A DAY FOR MY HEALTH. ↑

Yes!!!! I am not going crazy. I have been having horrible pain in my tailbone for the past 3 weeks and I am now 13 weeks pregnant. I also thought it was too early for this but I now see from the other responses that it is very possible. ↑

I am 8 weeks pregnant and also already have pain in my tailbone. I was worried until I read these other articles where women have similar symptoms because I figured I was way too early to have any sort of back pain associated with pregnancy. ↑

I am 22-weeks pregnant and have been having tailbone pain practically since the beginning... It mostly seems to hurt when I lie down and then try to get up, I don't know what causes it. ↑

I'm on my third pregnancy now and I must say tailbone pain is the first indication I am pregnant. I worried about it at first time. It felt like I had fallen flat on my butt and bruised my tailbone. If your concerned it won't hurt to get checked out, but don't get to worried. Chances are, it's just one of the many luxuries of pregnancy. Good Luck! ↑

You're not nuts....is it possible you have a tilted uterus?...I found out I was prego with my son because I thought I had injured my tailbone it hurt so bad...my doc explained that because my uterus was tilted back so far as soon as it started to expand it put pressure on my nerves and that's where the pain manifested from...and there wasn't anything that could be done about it except tylenol....just something to think about ↑

Thank goodness others are suffering from this. Im 8 weeks pregnant with our 4th baby. Baby number 3 is only 7 months old. For the last 5 days I too have had the tailbone pain, but today is is just terrible. Hurts to walk, sit, stand, lift. I cant really rest because of my little girl either, and I have alot of running around to do with my other two girls at school and Kindergarten. I was thinking of ringing my midwife tomorrow just to see if there is anything that can be done to ease the pain. I never had this with any of my other pregnancys, not at any stage. ↑

I am 37 weeks pregnant and have been dealing with the same tailbone pain since I was about 12 weeks pregnant. The pain is terrible. It hurts to sit, stand, walk, and mostly to roll over in bed. It is torture to get out of bed and go to the bathroom at night. I also have a tilted uterus. My doctor stated that there is nothing to do about it except take tylenol and rest. I was put on light duty at work because of it. I am in agony everyday. I can't wait for this to be over. My doctor said the ligament that holds the coccyx and sacrum together has stretched and possibly become separated causing this pain. I can sympathize with the rest of you. ↑

Okay well I'm sure lots of women are feeling this backpain ... but what have you ladies done to HELP it?? I get a horrible stinging pain right at my bone (tailbone) so massaging doesn't really help. It's like I need to crack my back but I cant crack it in the right place :( It's the worst when I get the stinging pain in the middle of work (I'm a waitress). I was thinking of going to buy a heating pad, or maybe goto a chiropractor ... but I just thought I'd ask some opinions before I went out and spent the money. Any suggestions? ↑

I had the same pain and tried a coccyx cushion. It helped me a lot when I was sitting.
Here is the one I bought:

I'm almost 6 months along with my second child. I've been having trouble with my tailbone for about 3 days and I now get instant relief after being adjusted. I work for a chiropractor and get adjusted on a regular basis. I have to admit I do not have the aches/pains like I did with my first pregnancy not being under chiropractic care. I would ask give chiropractic a try you might be surprised. My first child is now 27 months and she is seen as well on a regular basis. Baby #2 will be under care soon after he is born in December. ↑

I have two kids and I had that exact pain throughout my whole pregnancy. It was constant pressure especially when I would stand..OMG did it hurt! While I was in labor it still hurt! but the good news is after they were born it only took like a week to stop..So there is light at the end of the tunnel. ↑

Im 13 wks and 4 days and the same pain in my tailbone started just 2 days ago... It feels like a light bruise...I never thought it was too serious and my midwife told me to take tylenol and it should fade. I guess this is just another part of pregnancy...they say every woman is different... maybe WERE just all the SAME!!! LOL Good luck ladies! ↑

Hi all,
I am 37 weeks and I too have had a very painfull tailbone for most of my pregnancy:( Have any of you tried a birthing ball? (you can buy an exercise ball, its the same thing) I find that when i sit on my ball it takes all the pressure off of my lower back and tailbone...it also helps with hip pain:) I highly recommend it...they are pretty cheap and very easy to use:) I hope this helped:) good luck everyone:)

I have a tilted uterus and i had tailbone pain with my first child. I am now 12 weeks pregnant and was in extreme pain, I would cry when i would have to get out of my car. My doctor gave me muscle relaxers and the pain is almost gone. He said it would not hurt the baby. It also helps you sleep. ↑

I am so glad I saw this. I have the pain only really when I sit. But it is really bad and it almost feels numb. Like a nerve is pinched? Is that crazy. I am 19 weeks with twins. I am also wondering if anyone else has noticed it is worse when you may be constipated?? ↑

OMG! OMG! I am not sure if I am pregnant yet? I was on the pregnancy symptom forum looking for women who have the same symptoms as me and I couldn't find one that stated anything about the tailbone. So I looked on and found this thread. OMG!!! I have this tailbone pain it feels like a bruise. It hurts to sit and it hurts to get up from a sitting position. i noticed it a few days ago and thought maybe I hit and just didn't realize it. I have other symptoms as well like sore breast and nipples, bloated, hungry, headaches (feels like I have a hangover) and slightly conjested nose. Ladies if this sounds like I could be pregnant please let me know! I am so excited that I found this thread. ↑

(carey on 9-26) I am 18 weeks along and dealing w/ tailbone pain. Mine is not constant at this point, but when it hits there's no warning and the pain stops me dead in my tracks - you must all know what I'm talking about. I also notice it acts up most during bathroom visits. I want to labor w/ out meds but I'm concerned that this pain will get worse as I get further along (bones shifting and extra weight, etc.). I just can't imagine pushing w/ that kind of pain on top of the other pain! Has anyone labored w/ an injured or bruised tailbone w/ out meds? Thoughts on the issue?? ↑
I have tailbone pain now , combined with hip pain-which basically means i sit in bed all day cuz it hurts too much to move. but I also had tail bone pain Before i was pregnant, it was so bad i couldnt walk, i dont even know what i did, i went to a doc they said it was nothing gave me some pain meds and told me to keep it on ice, or to take a hot bath--both help ease the pain. i got a heating pad the other day it works wonders, i was actually able to move around the other day, its a good investment too for when you start getting back pain, hip pain, or just pains.. ↑

i googled this just now because i have also had such really bad tailbone pain and i thought it was normal but after many weeks i thought maybe it was just me. i find the best thing is for me to lay on my stomache and have my husband apply pressure with his hand in a downward motion both on the tailbone and beside it. sometimes it is so bad i can't walk, but after he does this it becomes easier for me. ↑

This is my 5th pregnancy, and I this is the first time I have experienced this! It happened almost overnight, too. With 4 other young kids to take care of, I can't imagine living with this every day! I am not able to function the way I need to! My first thought was that I need to go to the chiropractor. I'm calling tomorrow! ↑

I just posted a similar question about rear end pain in the general pregnancy section. Glad I found this! I get tailbone pain during and after exercise, even just long walks. I am 10 weeks along. I like some other posters have a tilted uterus and I never knew that could cause tailbone pain! That was helpful tio read. I am trying to do exercises that strengthen the rear muscles in the hopes it will help, but i am not a Dr. so I have no idea if that will help. ↑

I thought I was crazy! I've had terrible hip and tailbone pain, that worsens when I stand or lift things. It started 8.5 weeks. I also have a tilted uterus. Thank goodness I'm not going crazy! ↑

I have had this pain since about 5 weeks along and i am 12 weeks now. My dr directed me to go to a chiropractor for help and believe it or not, it's working! The pain is not completely gone, but it has lessened. Also, my dr thought that the baby might be on a nerve back there and be pinching it, which worries me when i become fat and huge,, ha ha . We'll see. ↑
