Baby Boom at the Daily Show
Don’t know what it is about that Daily Show, but seems as though everyone on set is getting pregnant these days. First off, a big congratulation to funny-woman Samantha Bee and her husband Jason Jones, both correspondents on the show, who welcomed their little girl into the world recently. No word on an exact date or weight, but it is known that she has been given the ever-cute name Piper Bee Jones. Next, congratulation to Bee and Jones’ workmate, Rob Corddry, who has announced that he and his wife are expecting their first child together, due in the summer. And finally, we can expect to be sending congratulations to the star himself, Mr. Jon Stewart, when he and his wife welcome their daughter in February. Fact or Fiction? More Brangelina News
First, let’s start with the truth. A Los Angeles judge has approved Angelina Jolie’s request to legally change her adopted children’s last name. Which means that Maddox, 4, and Zahara, 1, are now officially Jolie-Pitt. However, Pitt’s petition to legally adopt her kids has yet to be formally approved. And in rumored news, according to “sources,” Jolie is expecting twins thanks to fertility treatments. Said “source”: “I understand that she’s undergone fertility treatments to help her conceive and it certainly seems to have worked.” This source seems a bit to vague to be believable. ”Matrix” Star Targeted in Lawsuit
Shame on Laurence Fishburne! According to a lawsuit filed by the actor’s former assistant, Kristel Crews, Fishburne decided to fire her after telling her employer that she was pregnant. Crew had been hired in 1999 to look after the Matrix stars “personal and business needs.” However, Crew claims that when she notified Fishburne of her pregnancy in June 2004, she was told by the actor that he disagreed with “women having children on their own,” implying “that there were consequences to her decision to have the baby without consulting him.” Although the lawsuit states that Fishburne was at first happy about the pregnancy, even agreeing to be the child’s godfather, Crew began to grow worried when he allegedly said he “could not understand why she had not come to him before she made a decision to become pregnant.” According to Crew, once she announced her pregnancy, her work environment grew increasingly worse as Fishburne felt that she would not be able to “attend to his needs after she had the baby because her attention would be on the baby and not on him.” Although Crew maintains that she had fully intended to return to work after her maternity leave, she received notice from Fishburne’s attorney that, effective January 17, 2005, the day she was expected to return to work, she no longer had a job. Fishburne’s lawyers have dismissed the lawsuit, saying: “We categorically deny the allegations by Ms. Crew. It is unfortunate that the visibility of actors causes people to say all kinds of things about them for what we can only assume are their own purposes. We are confident that Mr. Fishburne will be vindicated in these proceedings.” Source: Josh Grossberg, E!Online.com
Pregnant Gwyneth Reveals Due Date
Unfortunately, that revelation isn’t to anyone you know. Rumor has it that Gwyneth Paltrow let slip her due date while chatting with her Proof co-star, Anthony Hopkins. This guarded secret came as the two chatted after the Golden Globe awards on Monday. While the mole who overheard this conversation for some reason doesn’t know what the due date is, they did report that Paltrow went on to tell Hopkins that she “feels great” and is “enjoying being pregnant again.” In other completely unconfirmed Paltrow pregnancy news, according to British tabloid, OK!, Paltrow and her husband, Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin, are considering the name Capone if they have a son this time around. Supposedly, the couple feel the name has character. Sources: FemaleFirst.co.uk; LSE.co.uk; OK! January 23, 2006
Angelina Collapses
A media frenzy is ensuing as reports emerge from Star magazine that Angelina Jolie collapsed and cut her head while down in the Dominican Republic, where she is filming her latest movie, The Good Shepherd. The collapse is reportedly due to her long filming hours in addition to various visits to local organizations and charities as part of her work for the UN. If rumors are to be believed, then Jolie’s doctors have placed her on a “high risk pregnancy alert” causing dad-to-be Brad Pitt to be sick with worry. An unnamed source told Star that Jolie “looks really frail and she’s pale and gaunt. I heard her doctor put her on a high risk pregnancy alert and Brad has been trying to persuade her to go on a bed rest. But she won’t hear any of it.” The fact that she has not had an easy pregnancy, suffering from terrible morning sickness and experiencing fainting and dizzy spells, probably doesn’t help to keep her feeling in top shape either. Various media sources have speculated about her health due to published photos of Jolie with very visible veins in her arms. But according to several OB/GYNs (none of whom have treated Jolie), these extra visible veins are nothing to be concerned about. One doctor chalked them up to the fact that she now has more blood flowing through her body as well as extra body heat. Another pointed out that pregnant women “tend to lose body fat in the early stages of pregnancy which means veins can show more, especially in muscular women like Angelina.” In other Jolie news, Contact Music is reporting that Jolie plans to be a hands-on mom with no help from a nanny. This comes as no surprise considering that she already has two adopted children that she seems to be raising just fine without a nanny. Although no due date has been announced, it is speculated that Jolie is five months pregnant. Sources: NineMSN.com; Jack Ryan, PostChronicle.com; Cris Bergman, NationalLedger.com; ContactMusic.com

Mum’s the Word as Holly Hunter has Twins
Congratulations to Holly Hunter and her partner, Gordon MacDonald, who have welcomed a brand new set of twins into the world. A publicist for the Oscar-winning actress told People magazine: “She had the babies. They are happy and healthy.” No other details were released so we can’t tell you if she had girls, boys, one of each, when they were born, weight, length or any other kind of detail. However, these are the first children for both Hunter and MacDonald, who met in November 2004 while co-starring together in a play in London. Sources: KC Baker, People.com

During a concert performance with his band, Ordinary Fear of God, in Australia, actor Russell Crowe announced to the audience that his wife is expecting their second child. This much more public announcement comes as Danielle has passed her first trimester and is now happily in her second. The proud parents, along with two-year-old son Charles, are expecting this newest addition in July. Source: SFGate.com; NewWoman.co.uk
Damon Having a Girl
It seems like the Dominican Republic is the place to go if you want the latest on a celebrity pregnancy. First Angelina Jolie confirmed her pregnancy to a charity aid worker there and now Matt Damon has confirmed that not only is his new bride four-months pregnant, but that they are expecting a little girl. During an interview, Damon was asked about the pregnancy and he reportedly replied “It will be a girl.” In addition to this revelation, reporters were also treated to hearing Damon speak Spanish, something that his Argentina-born wife Luciana has been teaching him. Damon is in the Dominican Republic filming The Good Shepherd alongside Jolie and Robert De Niro.

Brad, Angelina and…William?
According to the ever reliable British tabloid, News of the World, if the spawn of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is a little boy, he will be named William. Why the unusual choice of a normal name? Mainly to keep family tradition alive as Brad’s full name is William Bradley Pitt and his father’s first name is also William. But how will Jolie feel about this, seeing as how she is not really known for being conventional and that her two adopted children are Maddox and Zahara, somewhat untypical names in this neck-of-the-woods. If an unnamed “friend” of the couple can be believed, then she finds the name William to be just peachy-keen: “Angelina feels that such an all-American name is a true reflection of the rainbow family from all different backgrounds that she craves.” Only time will tell if the world will produce another William Pitt. Aniston Hasn’t Been on the Phone
Apparently all the reports and rumors that Jennifer Aniston had been busy talking with various people about ex-hubby Brad Pitt’s foray into fatherhood are (surprise, surprise) simply not true. First it had been rumored that Aniston had received a phone call from Angelina Jolie herself to help “clear the air” and inform Aniston that she was pregnant with Pitt’s baby. Aniston was said to have wished Jolie the best before hanging up and crying her eyes out. Next, came news that it was not Jolie but Pitt who called Aniston to make sure she heard the news from him rather than those nasty tabloids. Again, Aniston was supposed to have wished Jolie a healthy pregnancy before hanging up and crying her eyes out. These stories were quickly pish-poshed by Aniston’s publicist, Stephen Huvane, who released this comment on behalf of the actress: “All reports about phone calls between Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie are all made-up lies.” So what does Jenn have to say about the pregnancy? “Jennifer is not in the practice of commenting on other people’s private lives’,” is the official word from her rep. Okay, so she didn’t talk to the ex or the new girlfriend, but what about an ex-fiancé of the ex-husband? According to Star magazine, a source has reported that Aniston has been “exchanging tons of emails and calls” with Pitt’s former fiancé, Gwyneth Paltrow. According to Huvane, who also happens to be Ms. Paltrow’s publicist, this is also not a true story. “The reports of Jennifer and Gwyneth burning up the phone lines is another tabloid fabrication. Jennifer and Gwyneth have known each other for many years and whatever personal communications they may have with each other is not something we will be making public.” Looks like Jen should stay clear of phones for a while. Voight to Jolie: ‘Call Me’
Well, Angelina Jolie may not be on the phone with her boyfriend’s ex-wife, but there are some other people who would like to talk with her, namely her father, actor John Voight. Voight has asked his estranged daughter to “please get in touch” so he can be “included in this exciting moment [her pregnancy].” Voight went on to say: “I’m always trying to reach her and send her my love but I still haven’t spoken to her. I wish somebody would help me out and giver her a call.” So just what is stopping Voight from getting to know his only future blood-related grandchild? He called his daughter crazy on national TV. Five years ago, during a TV appearance, Voight said that Jolie had serious mental problems and pleaded for her to seek professional help. Jolie was less than pleased with the comments, later saying: “What he did was unforgivable. He was very public about different things about me and he said a lot of very harsh things.” Voight may not want to hold his breath for that baby shower invite. Source: DailyRecord.co.uk
