I am an accountant and have 6 years of experience with a big 5 audit (accounting services) company. I would like to start my own business and was wondering if anyone has done it and how it's going? I live in a small town with lots small businesses and I believe there's a market but I'm not sure how to start off. I have some ideas but advice, suggestions, tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mrs. W - I am also an accountant with big 5 (tax is my specialty) with 6 years experience. I help my mother start her own engineering firm 6 years ago and she is doing well - it is a struggle having to handle all the admin/office issues. My suggestion is to come up with a business plan and target clients (word of mouth and general networking should get you started). Good Luck!
