Any Job Protection If Fmla Doesn't Cover My Situation?

I read that for the fmla act to cover you, there has to be 50+ employees at your place of work. Mine is like 12! So, what protection do I have? I'm scared to tell my boss. Won't the Dr. usually only release you after 6 weeks if nothing is wrong? How long can one typically work up until their due date? I plan on working until I go into labor or HAVE to take off. I need the $$$. I do have personal and vacation leave built up that I can take, but I don't want to lose my job. It's a small office. Me and one other girl handle all accounts. I kNOW she cannot handle it alone for 6 weeks (or longer), which means they will have to get someone in there and I'm scared they may no longer need me. any advice or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

If I were you I would contact someone at the EEOC (you can look them up on google) I would ask one of their lawyers for information or advice. Hope this helps

If you are in the US, each state is different. In California, workers who pay into state disability can get 6 weeks of paid bonding leave. There is also pregnancy disablity that provides some pay for the end of your preg/first few weeks after the baby.

Also, find out what your workplace policy is. You can usualy work some kind of leave out but it might be w/o pay.
