Medical Transcriptionist???

Is becoming a medical transcriptionist a good, profitable job?I am a stay at home mom and really need to make more money for the family.
Are there any of you who work from home as a medical transcriptionist, if yes could you give me some info about which online course you took, how much the tuition was, how long it took to complete the course, how did you get the job and if the pay is good. Do you really need to take a CMT before got hired?

Also do you have any other idea about working at home aside from being a medical transcriptionist (ex medical coder, billing, etc)

hi i dont have much answers for you except that i am thinking of doing the same thing. all i know is that a friend of mines ex wife has been doing medical transcription from home for many many years and has been a successful work at home mom, their daughter is now 12 i think. i believe that the pay is pretty decent. sorry i dont have much info because im actually looking for some myself, if i find anything out i'll let you know. i just wanted to share that i know someone who has had success with it as a career.

I think it is a great job. I know there are alot of people who have had success with medical transcriptioning, medical billing, and coding!!

I think it is important to decide what you can see yourself doing and then go for it :o)

You are able to find ALOT of companies on SoHoJobs.org that are hiring people to work from home as a Medical Transcriptionist, or Medical Billing, as well as Medical Coding.

If it is something you have interest in, GO FOR IT !!
