Time Off For Medical Appointments

Hello- I was wondering if a woman needs time off for her prenatal appointments if the employer is obligated to give her that time?
I live in the US .. and I am considered high risk and I have an appointment coming up soon that i have to attend and they are giving me a hard time about taking off. Just wondered what my rights are here?
