Reality for me, but not right away. I didn't start losing the weight right after the baby was born, but by 6 months after the baby was born without any diet or exercise I was 8 pounds lighter than my pre-baby weight. Be careful though, what they don't tell you is that when breast feeding slows down significantly or you wean completely, if you aren't careful the weight can start coming back on. I really think that once you have been stretched out by the baby, it is easier for your body to stretch out again. I ended up right back at my pre-baby weight. I'm not overweight so I don't mind, but I'm not skinny either so I would have preferred to have kept off that 8 pounds! |

Reality for me! I lost all my pregnancy weight (40 pounds!) by 3 months pp without dieting. I'm now, at almost 5 months pp, continuing to lose but more slowly. Oddly enough eating MORE seems to help--I guess you really do need those extra calories, even to lose weight! Not sure what'll happen one we introduce solids but I hope to lose another 10 pounds as I was a bit overweight when I got pregnant. |

Total reality for me. I lost the 36lb I gained during pregnancy by my 6 week PP appt. Now I am 6 months PP and I have lost another 25lb on top of that! I haven't done anything other than breastfeed! |

I say both. I am still breastfeeding my 8 month old and I think breastfeeding has helped me lose alot of weight about 32 lbs (i gained 40) but I also think that while breastfeeding you can ended up mantaining a good 5-10 lbs of baby weight just so you have enough fat stores to provide milk for the baby. I have heard alot of woman say that they couldnt lose the last 5-10 lbs until they stopped breastfeeding altogether but overall I think that is I wasnt breastfeeding I would be heavier overall |

Lost the 30 lbs gained during pregnancy by 3 months pp. The only thing I did was breastfeed... no dieting. Now, I am hoping to lose the 10 lbs I gained from infertility drugs. |

Hmm, I've heard both sides. Luckily it was reality for me as well. I was 134lb prebaby and gained 24lb at two weeks pp I was 118lb. No special dieting or eating or even exersizing. But I slowly gained it back and stayed, now I just found out I'm preggo again and I'm 130lb, and lost a few pounds, again without changing my diet. But I'm also still breastfeeding. |

Definately reality for me. Was around 135 when I got pregnant, gained a whopping 50 lbs, and had lost about 30-35 of that by my 6 week check up. My son is now 7 months old and I've not only lost all my baby weight, but an extra 10-15 lbs. Breastfeeding only, no dieting. My husband is starting to get concerned that I'm losing too much weight. Anyone know if that's possible? Is it normal to lose that much? |

Reality for me. I didn't b/f our first and it took FOREVER to loose the weight - I gained about the same too! With our second I am b/f and have lost a ton of weight - about 8 pounds left to go. So for me - b/f helped me drop the weight quick! |
